In case you missed it, the gas factory has the schematic for the "rocket launcher" ammo, which will come in handy later in the game when you have to face more giants. You can scrap the ammo and supplies you don't need and turn it into those big shells that gun fires.

Ammo used to be a problem for me when I first started as well. There are a few places with a lot of dead soldiers in them all who have ammo on them. A perk that makes you find more ammo in cases. And if you find the blueprints, the ability to craft your own ammo and med kits. Also loot respawns every few hours (I can’t remember how long, you can easily look it up though), so remember where you’ve found ammo cases before and quick travel back to safe houses to stock up now and then.
