They first are a little bit more drawn in, like "hey, there is also a giant duck!", then they stay in the city longer so they can meet the duck and participate in the other festivities. I believe it was a great idea to do this, not economy wise, but public appreciation wise.

Whoever was complaining about the tax payers having to pay for this doesn't know how good they've got it. Read a few recent articles on what the Provincial Government is up to in Saskatchewan. That's what bad budgeting and poor decisions are really like. Just be glad the duck is super cute. ^^

The duck is an illegal counterfeit, the original creator is Dutch, Florentijn Hofman, and has already reprimanded Canada. The Ontario government hired a Chinese company for the illegal counterfeit.

Although i am not against the rubber duck, i think it is good. All being said, what she said in the last part "it's the organizer who decided what to do?" is misleading. The government did read and approve the proposal before releasing the fundings, did she not?

Not sure how a giant rubber duck represents anything in Canada, it was a huge waste of taxpayer money. The government back then could’ve spent money on an actual landmark that represents the country that anyone could visit anytime of the year.
