They've already got a problem with burms so I'd understand it if they said "no more exotic snakes" but to hand out permits and then go back on it without enough time for people do adjust is not a good idea. If anything it will encourage snake dumping.
Giving out permits to keep an animal then using the contact information to find animals to kill them or force relocation will just encourage people not to get a permit.
Unfortunately, Florida is such a perfect location for invasives that I agree with the ban... I don't agree with how they went about it, however I full understand just how horrifically invasives like Burmese completely fuck up those ecosystems. And it's not just the stupid people releasing pets either, the hurricanes are a big reason. The facilities are destroyed in them and then they get out. So they can't just crack down on keepers. They definitely should have done it differently. A week or euthanize? That's just not plausible for the vast majority of people and it doesn't do these animals any good.
This event was for Patreon, but we can't wait to get to the new facility where we will have the option to have bigger events to include everyone. Stay tuned!
I’m still devastated I couldn’t go. My CPR course was not nearly as interesting. 😂 I hope patreon people will be invited next year because I need to experience this.
I was a complete stranger to this community with no reptiles myself when I started at ROR. I found out that everyone is incredibly welcoming no matter who you are or what animals you have, if any. Welcome to the group :) -Jess
@@ReachOutReptiles Thank you! I love the acceptance and patience that you practice. So cool. You don't have to own but you should share what you've learned if ignorance rears it's head. With respect. Foot soldiers in any movement can make an impact. I'm on board!
That was just about the most beautiful big snake I’ve ever seen. Mainlands are magnificent but most people just don’t have the experience or resources to keep them. The SDs are still my favorites, if I were able to have snakes they would be in the top 5(if I could have snakes I would have more than one so that’s why I said top 5! lol)
Looked like lots of fun do it again next year. If I were billionaire in would get private inland and invite the people from Florida to move there and no one could stop them from having there reptiles. It is all out of fear and stupidity that this is happening. GOD created the animals that includes reptiles not just cat's, dog's. GOD BLESS and keep up the good work.🐍💖🐍💖🐍💖
Definitely, that would have been a mess without having snake room rules. Planned ahead which ones were coming out, only so many out at a time, only employees taking them out or putting them back, etc. Plus if you know Garrett, you know he has the pattern every single one of his adult "babies" memorized. We've tried to test him several times haha!!
Amazing video as always. My heart bleeds for the keepers in Florida. If you were legally able to buy then and keep them. They should have to pay you the money the animal is worth before you give it away. What a shame 🙈
