The real jet is one of the most beautiful aircraft I've ever seen. I'm guessing the CG was too far aft or maybe the elevator servo failed? I can't imagine an experienced pilot would over rotate so early and stall. Any experienced pilot, which I assume he had to be with a jet of this size, would get to takeoff speed before rotating.
@@garyjohnson4575 not really money, this jet was totally scratch build from regular 1/4” plywood, balsa and styrofoam, the landing gear was machined from recycled aluminum, lots of time spent to build this jet and definitely not the money
Watch the video carefully. I do not see *any* elevator inputs as the nose some off the ground. Once the a/c adopts the very high angle of attack, he seems to be applying lots of elevator to get the nose down but the a/c does not respond. I could be mistaken as the thing basically plummets with the elevators horizontal. Could be loss of radio contact. Could also be a design issue: I am dubious about the relationship of the wings and the tail assembly. The real a/c had rather large flaps that were deployed fully on launch with max elevator at the same time, to get airborne in a short distance. That could also be related to the centre of gravity issue some are pointing to. Judging by the pre-flight everything was at or aft the rear wheels
When the jet turned mid field for the takeoff, I thought why aren't we using the runway that's available. For a high wing load jet like this, you need speed for lift. You can't rotate a jet with this size and wing loading in 50', or even 100'. It's possible an aft CG caused the early rotation? But surely you would know where the proper CG should be, and put it there. Maybe something inside shifted on the roll? For maiden flights, a forward CG would be preferable. It was a beautifully built jet. Sorry about the crash. I see you rebuilt it. More speed is needed before rotating the next time or the result will be the same. That was a VERY SHORT ROLL - too short for this jet.
I can tell ya exactly what happened...he pushed too much elevator way too soon...instead of gaining speed and lift her off slowly...quite possibly tail heavy as well...bad combo
