I don't believe that shit; but its become New York Mythology. We were a running team with two 1000 yard Rushers. Steve smith was an 80 catch guy, Boss, Hixon and them, were fine. Watch the Eagles game, the run got totally stuffed, its 3rd and long every time. How would Plax have fixed that? Great WR's are shiny hood ornaments of an offense. Quarterback Play with Blocking, MAKES THEM famous and Fantasy studs. 2015 Panthers, Every Patriots SB winner, early season its like they have no (famous) Wide Recievers, and they still produce great offense, next thing you know Tedd Ginn and Funchess are must start fantasy options, and Cam is MVP. Duh, no WR's. Last year, The Patriots in September were doomed without any WRs. Even without Gordon; they had a great offense, that could keep up with Chiefs.

EVERY NFL WR who is starter caliber is capable of executing the route combinations that make guys open. It takes a QB to reads the Defense and get the ball out to the designed spot based on what the defense did Post snap. Eli is totally inconsistent in doing that. 2007 postseason and 2011 entire season he did it. 2008, he really didn't, MOST of the time. And he passed in favorable 2nd and 2's 3rd and 1's because the run game was dominant. They shit the bed in the Eagles game, I don't want to hear how losing one player destroys a dominant Run game, can't stop Eagles pass rush, and makes the defense let the Eagles score.

Suburban, NYG fans want to fucking hate Plax and blame it all on him. Guys who don't watch games closely. We beat the Panthers without Plax to get the 1 seed; a great team. The team choked it up against Philly. Plax this plax that, we can't run, we couldn't block Eagles rushes and blitzes, and we couldn't stop them. Sure losing Plax isn't a good thing, but we had plenty of options, Eli just didn't find them, played his shitty version where he can't read a D. And theres NO EXCUSES For not being able to run block on the Eagles. We blew out the Ravens with 264 Rushing yards that year. Im tired of the myth making and excuses, oh if Plax hadn;t shot himself we woulda shoulda. NOT TRUE.

Pittsburgh would've beaten the Giants in the Superbowl that year. The Steelers had all 7 Starters out for the Regulations Season Game against the Giants back to start in Superbowl 43.

Indeed since even if Plax hadn't shot himself, he would have been 34 by that point and while he would have been in better shape than after he just got out of prison, not by much. This can have an impact on whom the Giants were drafting in 2009 to 2011 as well as Victor Cruz's chance of playing. Plus even had Plax not shot himself and the Giants repeats, the defensive problems starting in 2009 would still happen.

I think the Plaxico Burress incident effected the team more mentally than you may think because there was such a media circus around the incident. If he just hurt himself in a game, I think they would have been just fine because of how strong of an overall team they had. But instead, they had to deal with the New York City mayor constantly publicizing the event for re-election, players who were at the night club with Plax had to testify to police about the incident. A few of the players also new he owned an illegal fire arm and may have felt guilty about just letting it slide through out the years. I don't blame Plax! In fact, I feel sorry for him and how one moment derailed a great career so quickly. However, I do think there is a direct correlation between the giants going 10-1 with Plax and then going 2-5 without him. I think its just a shame that the season had to go down this way. I wish I had a time machine just to see how it would have gone down if the incident never happened! Maybe we could have had a dynasty!

We beat the Eagles with Plax in Philly in week 10, we lost with a poor offensive showing at home against the Eagles in week 14 without him. We were 10-1 when the whole Plax debacle occurred on 11/28/08, the only loss being against the Browns, week 6. The Eagles loss was on 12/07/08. Losing Plax and not having a viable receiving threat stymied the once venerable running attack.

That's not true. The Giants were 0-2 without Burress against the Eagles (Week 14 and the playoffs). Both those games happened after Burress shot himself.

Mine too. It really was the best REGULAR season. I saw every game of 1990; and unlike 2008, we LOST to the big dogs, the Bills, the Niners. In 2008 we beat all 4 final four teams, both the SB contestants. "December's Champions" lol.

Popular but wrong, Plax had 35 catches on the year. The Giants Eagles playoff game is a total team collapse. Giant fans are ridiculous about the Plax, because it was self inflicted...no other fan base goes 'if we didn't lose 1 Wide Reciever in week 13 we woulda won the Superbowl". If Tyreek Hill gets hurt off the field and the 2023 Dolphins don't win a SB, its kind of pathetic for dolphins fans to say 'we woulda won the SB with Tyreek'. Plax isn't Calvin Johnson, or Tyreek. No excuses. We sucked vs the Eagles, couldn't run couldn't make a stop.

ehhh the 2005 and 2006 teams lost a lot of defense due to late season injuries. Fun fact, in 2005 the Giants were really really close to calling up Jessie Armstead to come out of retirement for the playoff game because of all their hurt linebackers.
