I agree with you with those words. In 2008 season when Burress left the Giants, the Offense was not the same. Having him in the Lineup always feared the opposing defense's.
@Mike Russo you know who has more INT's than Eli? Peyton, Favre, Marino, Unitas, Tarkenton. All HOF'ers. Are they better? Absolutely. but he'll get in. People will hate it but I rather have Eli in the HOF than Brady w/8 rings.
@@joeysicignano2413 I couldn't watch that play for almost a year because I cried every time. When Plax was in tears after the game while holding his son, I was a wreck.
Respect for putting in Antonio Pierce’s tackle vs the Packers in the 2007 NFC Championship game at 3:28. It wasn’t a turnover, no points were scored, but it was such an incredible and significant play that a lot of people forget about. Thanks for putting that in. Go Big Blue!!!
It truly is a team effort. That first down could’ve cost the entire game. It may not be tyree’s catch but whose to say packers would’ve won had they converted the third that play
Manning to Burress gives me chills every time, just the way he says "Touchdown New York!" and the crowd being possibly the loudest its ever been at a superbowl
People forget about the Ingram 3rd down play but it is one of the single best individual efforts to get a first down in a big spot that I have ever seen
I used to say if they got by the 49ers. In 1981 they beat Philly and lost to San Fran. In 1984 they beat the Rams and lost to San Fran. In 1985 they finally beat San Fran and lost to Chicago. Then of course they destroyed the 49ers and won the whole thing.
Awesome video. Missing the third down catch and run by Steve Smith on the 2007 final drive. One of the most underrated plays in Giants and Superbowl history.
I was at that 2000 NFC championship game when they smoked the Randy Moss + Daunte Culpepper Vikings. I was 8 years old. My dad had to hold me up over his head almost the entire game because the crowd couldn't stop standing/cheering. Best memory of my childhood hands down. I love the Giants man.
i was there too and there was this huge brother in our section wearing a purple fur coat and talking shit to everyone before kickoff. by halftime he left the stadium quiet as a churchmouse LOL
I was in vet school that year and I wasn't following football due to my studies. Is that game worth watching on youtube? I don't know of any real NYG-MIN rivalry to get the bad blood flowing, but I have heard some people say that it's an immortal NYG game.
@@Torgo1969 It's a legendary Giant game, I was born in 2002 so I didn't actually see it but I watch the highlights a lot. There's an awesome intro with Summerall narrating it as well. I think many agree that it was the greatest game in the history of Giants Stadium, just a shame we got blown up two weeks later. That Giant team is so underrated. Here's the link the game: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yaih3Bu9pqw.html
@@jameskreisler6083 Thanks for the link! I had the time to watch it a month or so ago and I'm so glad I did. The insane and raucous crowd is really on another level, as so many have stated. And the Giants came out smoking! BTW, have you seen the Jan 1991 Championship game against SF at Candlestick? That one is my fave NYG game of all time.
@@Torgo1969 Yea man, times like these make me sad we can't experience crowds like that right now. 1990 NFC Title game is one of the most old school games ever, 15-13 final all field goals. Nowadays if you don't score like 25 you lose
Yes. It was 1 against 4 and he won the battle! EDIT: That game was memorable for the drama and the brutal conditions. I've lived in the North all my life, but looking at the field and the red cheeks of everyone, one could tell that the ball and the field were hard as rocks. I would find it hard to be a fan in the stands in those conditions, much less a player getting knocked around on that frozen tundra.
Totally agree with Antonio Pierce's tackle dude. That tackle was career defining. Should have been ranked higher than 20. Also left out was Chase Blackburn's snatched interception from Gronk. Blackburn wasn't even on a team when the season began. He was a real overachiever.
neckisstiff I love the look on mannings. his face is priceless at the end like : " did I just bring my team back with 30 seconds left, did really just do that"
Right before the ball is snapped you see Eli's eyes dart to the left , where he sees Hobbs one on one with Burriss, and he knows right there that's going to be a TD>
Nice compilation. Also appreciate the Pierce play which was one of my top three favorite Giant moments. There’s no undervaluing the Helmut Catch which has so many components. Personally, I like Manningham’s catch more than Wide Right simply because Wide Right wasn’t the Giant’s doing. But the rankings aren’t important...great job getting so many of the best moments.
agreed, and I feel like they are making it a little easier to get in the hall of fame nowadays (even more so in basketball), I think there is an argument that Leonard belongs
LM had great speed, and he never gave up on that play, getting up off the ground not once but twice. But that play doesn't happen the way it does unless LT is equally active and stops Montana's roll in its tracks, allowing Marshall to close the distance. LM gets lots of deserved love from us NYG fans, but I was glad to see Taylor get to recover the fumble forced by Eric Howard. LT was giddy, prancing around with the ball. LOL. That whole 4th Quarter is the most dramatic quarter I've ever seen as a Giant fan, even more so than the SB wins. 2 QB injuries, the fake punt by Reasons, the Marshall hit, the fumble forced by Howard, and Bahr's winning FG. Incredible!
leogerling YOu have to put Eli in tha Hall Simply because of his Brother and BRADY. Brady couldnt beat Eli. And Eli has more superbowls than his brother.!!! LET HIM in lol hahah ;D
Watching montana writhe in physical pain after those hits was almost.... ***ALMOST*** as delightful as watching jerry jones writhe in his emotional pain! NYG FOREVER!!!!
Pat Summeral and Madden , so proud to have lived to hear them call my games! Tremendously grateful that they got to call NY Giants games for all those awesome years!
Thanks for these memories. I am partial to the magic carpet rides of 1990 and 2007, as I did not expect victory in those years. They did not have the best team in either year, but made some exceptional plays.
#6 is probably my favorite on this list. Beating that GREAT Niners team, In San Fran, when they were looking for a 3 peat was unforgettable. "There will be no 3-peat" I loved the hell out of that 1990 Giants team
You and me both. For me, the 1990 team is the greatest in Giants history. The majority dont agree with me, but the numbers and quality of opponents dont lie.
Giants come into Candlestick and beat the invincible 49ers team with a backup QB and scoring no touchdowns (5 field goals). Most stunning playoff game in my lifetime.
@@davidorocks62 Unfortunately, we have 2 chances of seeing a great defensive battle like that in a championship game these days: slim & none. I desperately miss that brand of football.
Play #5 should be higher; Ingram gave an incredible effort to get that first down. The tackle by Pierce is in the same boat, incredible individual effort.
I watched every game post 1984 and the best for me was beating the 49ers in the 1990 NFC championship game. They were going for a 3peat and we're unstoppable. The Marshall hit on Montana was the best.
@@RobertoGonzalez-iw2ee sorry, it wasnt Eli that won those 2 SBs, despite the bogus MVPs. It was the NY Giants, and specically the D line, that won. Eli was along for the ride.
I will never forget Super Bowl 42. It was the first Super Bowl win I got to watch with my dad since I was 5 in 1990 and didnt get to stay up for the whole thing and they lost to the damn ravens in 2000. I remember everyone going nuts in our living room once Burress caught the pass.
Amazing moments. Some stuff you probably could've added: - Hakeen Nicks's 1st touchdown against the Packers where he bounced off a tackle and ran to the endzone. - Ryan Grant fumble recovered by Chase Blackburn. - Phil Simms flea flicker to McConkey. -
Congratulations. . .You made a perfect video. As a Giants fan this makes me really happy. You didn't miss anything and you prioritized the right ones. The Plaxico touchdown makes me even happier than the Tyree catch which I doubt most people think.
@@johnsmith3091 just floated through and watched this video, since the conference title games for the 2021 season are tomorrow. What a great job by you.
Awesome video. Especially the pre-'86 highlights, don't see those too much. Some really good choices like Antonio Pierce's stop, the Manningham TD vs the Niners, and the Reasons fake punt. Someday I'll make plays 31-50 video. It will have Boss's 45 yard catch in SB XLVI, Stephen Baker's TD before halftime in SB XXV, Nicks' 60+ yard TD in the first quarter vs the Packers in 11, Toomer's 50ish yard TD in the first Q vs the Cowboys in 07, maybe the Hostetler rollout and throw to Bavaro to set up the FG vs the Niners, Eli throw to Bradshaw down the left sideline vs the niners on their last drive in regulation when he got clobbered, jay alford sack of brady, pass defenses at the end by Webster (third down especially) vs Moss, 4th down stops vs Falcons, Jacobs 4th and 1 vs Patriots, steve smith 3rd and 11 vs patriots. Maybe the fake punt in SB XXI, the tackle by everson walls when Thurman looked to get another 20+ yards in SB XXV, the crazy punt return fumble recovery in nfc championship vs packers near the end of regulation. Or how about a fumble recovery montage vs patriots, you could include the one bradshaw stole away from them in xlii, that weird illegal bat play in xlii, and then three fumbles in XLVI- two recovered by giants (one semi-miraculously) and the other recovered by patriots but called back by too many men on the field. Yep that would be sweet.
My absolute favorite part of the 90 championship was Madden continuously saying the Giants need a touchdown now if they want to win this game. Nope, sorry Johnny, 5 field goals is plenty enough points for our D
@@richspeck8932 LOL. I rewatched it in its entirety the other day and the memories flooded back. Climbing the damn walls with anxiety and tension and pessimism until that unbelievable 4th Quarter gave us those immortal memories. And it was good to hear Madden giving credit to Howard for forcing that Craig fumble. He always praised the tough guys who don't stand out but who epitomize hardnosed football.
A great run in 91. If Eddie Murray hits the 42-yarder in 83, that would be way up there. Obviously a superior Washington team in both of those seasons. Many great players- Sanders and Johnson deserve 10 rings apiece- but seldom the right combination on both sides of the ball. Keep believing, because Aaron Rodgers isn't going to live forever.
That 2007 Dallas team was freakin stacked, and the 2011 Niners were real good too. #2 seed over New Orleans since they played in SF though I'm pretty sure record-wise they were even. Both like 13-3 I think, something like that.
Great list! Was hoping to see the Chase Blackburn interception at 2011-2012 superbowl though, just because he wasn't supposed to be all the way down field covering Gronk. He went up ans snatched it from Gronk, it was one of my favorite plays of the game
Manningham catch shoulda been number one....on first down...absolutely perfect ball thrown with unbelievable over the shoulder catch on the sideline with both feet in!
Simms was so amazing in that first super bowl. Definitely forgotten how great he was that game. I miss the old Giants helmets. Like the old design a lot more than the current one. Edit: and my god did Montana get ruined against the Giants. Great countdown!
Thank you so much for this. As a 34 year old NYG fan, I love seeing the old plays and then having the more recent playoff games intertwined. Man I loved that LT era defense. That must have been so amazing to watch, they look absolutely vicious.
Yeah it was their first playoff victory in the Super Bowl era so I'm glad they included that play. I remember where I was watching the game at my brother's house on Long Island (though I lived in Brooklyn with my sister at the time)
From a Cowboy fan - GREAT video! Each moment captured, concise, no bloating, just a bunch of GREAT moments from your team's history w/out a bunch of crap in between. Great video!
Thanks for posting! #29, #24, #23, #15, #5 and #4 are some of my favorite Giants moments ever. I always remembered Dixon ripping apart the stadium @ 2:55 lmao. What Eli/Tyree did was amazing...but that Manningham catch will always be special to me. A crispy pass, amazing catch and even better footwork proved it was no fluke. Looking forward to Cruz (and possibly Jernigan) getting to 100%. I feel that with OBJ, Cruz, Randle, JJ if healthy and resigned, Parker and a mid to low round draft pick, we're all in for a helluva show next year. BIG BLUE!
Thank you for bringing back some giant GIANT memories. After seeing the Ingram catch again and hm breaking all those tackles, I would have to say it's a toss-up between that and the Tyree catch. Both were game changing events. Great selection! Thank you!
Its sad that almost 2 years later this is still up to date but hopefully not after this year... great video. This is probably my tenth time watching it
I love the way you put 8 and 7 next to each other. Two incredible turnovers caused by the Giants against SF to allow the Giants to go to the Superbowl in '90 and '11.
Kyle William's fumble was the greatest moment of my life. That was a very stressful game and my dad got to see the giants win another superbowl before he passed. Awesome vid!
John Smith, you've done a fantastic job of putting these moments together. Thank you. I would have made Antonio Pierces incredible tackle a bit higher than number 20 however. It was certainly his career defining moment. Well done John.
