He's being overpowered by Edges. DT are more powerful. He cannot play Guard. He can't run block. Neal has to come in on run downs. Neal has always been a good run blocker. And if they don't run it on thise plays it will ease Neal into pass blocking. Then Ezuedu can come in fresh on passing downs. Eluemenor to LT, platoon Neal and Ezuedu at RT.
The only explanation I have for Ezeudu at LT is that Daboll is either trying to get Jones injured so he doesn't have to tell Mara that he wants to move on from DJ or Schoen is forcing him to prove that Ezeudu was not a total bust. I also don't understand how the starting LT for Alabama who is a 1st round pick can't be better than the disgrace that is Josh Ezeudu. Is Schoen that scared that he might have to answer for the Neal pick when Neal eventually craps the bed on the field.
75 picks up his foot and puts it down in the same exact spot instead of moving towards his target on runs. He needs to tell his "stupid foot" to stay. Still waiting for us to get a player that wants to bring violence to the offensive line. Everyone is soft and technical.
This is Ezuedu's 3rd yr. He is still getting overpowered. He's had 2+ yrs to bulk up and he hasn't. He can't run block or pass block or play Guard. Neal needs to play T, at least on run downs.
Jones isn’t good, but you can see such a difference in his play when he can trust his O-line. When he doesn’t trust him, he’s always looking for the check down and a quick throw. It absolutely sucks that Schoen has put 0 effort into finding o-line depth.
No QB is going to be good when the pressure gets there in 1.5 seconds. Look at 4:33 and 4:41 - The Giants get manhandled even when they are blocking 5 v 4. I thought this could be a redeeming year but with Andrew Thomas out, it’s going to be another mediocre season.
I will never get daboll saying they like him better at tackle when he's shown nothing good at tackle meanwhile at guard he showed some promise his rookie year later in the year
The strength and conditioning coach needs to be fired. Ezuedu, Flott, Thibodaux, McFadden, JMS, all needed to bulk up and did NOT. He should have been fired after JMS hurt shoulder in spring. JMS was overpowered in this game and he doesn't get push in run blocking.
This Oline needs to be nasty, dare anyone to come past the line of scrimmage, we need to be the aggressor we are soft and not nasty at all on the line which is why we have issues they all are soft with no balls or tenacity
Here’s the problem with the OL. DJ is the slowest of processors and he has zero anticipation. He only throws to receivers who he can see are already obviously open, and by the time he throws the ball that window is often already closed. That means he waits in the pocket too long and passes go incomplete. That delay stresses the protection and creates obvious passing 2/3 downs which makes things even worse. If he could get the dam ball out with anticipation everything would work better, but he’s truly incapable of that. His brain just is too slow to process where the opening is GOING to be. Since he only throws to wide open receivers, and he can’t anticipate, he gives up on plays that other QBs could make. So he tries to run, sometimes successfully, but many of the sacks are him trying to run but getting caught. Daboll wants desperately to get explosive plays so he continues to call downfield plays that just won’t work given the above. Daboll gets so frustrated with the above that he tells DJ to just throw the ball anyway. That can work sometimes with Nabors, but DJ can’t anticipate and accurately hit the back shoulder or outside spot, so we just get a ton of incompletions. And oh yeah, Andrew Thomas got hurt.
Daniel Jones doesn't know how to move in the pocket, a few of those sacks he could have bailed out of the pocket, but he waits to long like he doesn't have any pocket awareness.
