I have the 70s Explorer & Flying V, both in Classic White. They are incredible. I'm glad I got them both when they first dropped before the massive price hike.
Alot beats Gibson these days. The prices are ridiculous. Yeh the're good guitars but many companies can rival them. It's down to personal prefference. My Epiphone LP with Gibson pups is killer at a fraction of the price
@marka8738 Yeah, I don't support Chinese companies after 2020....so gibson it is. I mean, they did come up with all these designs right? Never really understood people complaining about Gibson suing other companies blatantly stealing their designs. If the other companies make such phenomenal instruments, as people claim, why do they feel the need to copy other manufacturers' designs? I've owned and played MANY guitars, gibson makes the best mass produced production model instruments on the planet hands down. They definitely were in a rough patch from about 2005-2018ish, but the new CEO has really turned the company around.

You know what I like best about your content Rich? It's all real! You're not sitting in logic, making a perfect track to sync up to a video. You're actually just standing in front of the camera playing, playing! Who ever heard of such a thing? You're a real gigging musician for real musicians not all these little fake kiddies running around with their logic tracks, syncing them directly up to their cams. I love it when I hear you do the inadvertent pick scratch in the wrong spot because I know you're really playing, your peer group can't say the same. Quite frankly, most of them don't have the real woodshed chops that you have as a musician. I really do like the fact that this is all real, can I say that again? Keep up the good work M8, I think God is going to bless you mighty here.
My 2018 Explorer is my favorite guitar and my dream guitar. The neck is fantastic and I agree about how easy they are to play. The grain in the mahogany on mine is stellar and it is beautiful. I love the pickups (BB2 and BB3) and it's just the best guitar I have. When Gibson gets it right they knock it out of the galaxy. I had to wait 33 years for a left-handed model to come out and it was worth the wait for sure.
I bought one after watching this video. Once I heard you play the RATT riffs I knew immediately I was an owner lol. Killer playing and excellent video demonstrating the versatility. 🤘🎸
Fun Fact: Jim DeCola of Gibson (former Peavey, Fender, EVH, & designer of the Wolfgang and Wolfgang pickups) told me that the pickups in these 70s Explorers & Flying Vs are based on the original Wolfgang pickups.
Great vid Rich! I had a Epiphone Goth Explorer for some time( traded that for a Schecter Hellraiser FR that the other guitarist in my band had) and gotta say, it played well, but, weighed a ton,lol! But that Explorer sounds amazing!
Some nice shredding again Rich. Had a few Gibsons over the years. My first was in 1970. They do seem to have some quality control issues at times but there are some great guitars out there. Can't explain but there is something nice when playing a guitar with 'that' name on the headstock.
There are lots of reasons people don't buy Gibsons. Probably the number one reason is price, I have a $300 Ibanez that plays as good or better than any Gibson and if someone were to disagree, I would say they need to spend more time playing and less time worrying about the name on the headstock and how pretty the finish is.I also think that having creepy Mark Agnesi as their spokesman hasn't helped thair brand.
Sometimes, it’s just about the passion man. Gibson has a reputation for a reason and Jimmy Page, Slash, Ace Frehley, Angus young and thousands of other musicians use them for a reason. But I will say they’re not for everyone.
