Great to hear a 'proper' guitar review - I play a 1968 LP Custom and a lot of the time it's 'clean' so always nice to hear a review where you can hear the actual sound of the guitar before OD / Distortion etc. Seems like a lovely instrument, I've played a few Custom Shop Re-Issues, 60th Anniversary models and a few others and they are all impressive (albeit each one is a bit different, which is fine!)

Hey love your videos! That's a killer guitar. The VOS is not apart of the murphy lab. The lightest murphy lab is "ultra light aged" which has some checking, the COA also looks different. VOS doesn't have any finish aging just has a treatment to the finish and aged hardware.

I had a potential buyer try to tell me that cross grain in the finish was checking. It’s my favourite part of a good Gibson top. This reissue is lovely!

Excellent video as always. You R9 looks beautiful. A couple of weeks ago I purchased a R9 Murphy Lab, if I’m not playing it…..I can’t stop looking at it. It would be interesting to know what relief and action you have on your R9. Keep up the great videos👍

I have been playing tons of Les Paul over the years including recent R8 and R9. If you are looking for an AMAZING instrument for a cheaper price go for a high end tokai. I have purchased a LS 384cm which is a Tokai custom shop. The quality is incredible, at least comparable to an R9 if not better and it's the price of a Gibson Standard

Nice top, looks like my CS aged R9, without the thrashing. The prices have gone insane, especially down here in New Zealand. That video was a trip, entertaining though. What guitar did you use for it? I was hoping during the solo, maybe the winged demon guy would start shredding on a guitar so I could see it. Cheers!🤘😈🤘

Great selection of guitars you have. Since you have old school standard and you own a regular custom. Is it worth selling my 1997 standard which is a great sounding guitar that has same pickups/electronics as current custom shop regular customs and get a brand new regular custom . Black beauty Custom always been my dream guitar. I can't keep the standard since I need its money towards the custom. Thanks

I have this same guitar but in the washed cherry sunburst my neck is so tacky I can't stand it. I have a USA Standard Slash, and Modern that are similar. Any tips on fixing this? I usually prefer maple necks because they are so smooth. It's almost unplayable to me. Any tips to smooth out the neck finish?

Hello mate . as always, great video which helps us a lot but there are certain things on that guitar that I didn't like very much... first, as another colleague already said, it is not a Murphy lab since it would bring relic in three varieties to choose the degree of relic that you want and can pay and its corresponding Murphy lab certificate... and yes, it's you, I really like the close-ups of the guitar top, I wish you had done it to see the work on the fingerboard of this guitar and binding. .. watching your video I saw on the guitar some scratches on the back of the guitar that could be from the store itself because it was exposed or something like that... but in the neck-body joint I saw something as if the finish was a bit bad .... honestly I am a lover of Gibson but not of their bad finishes and I would be able to pay $7000 for one unfortunately to find a perfect one I would have to go through 100 stores before that and maybe it is perfect but it sounds bad as usual with Gibson ... I don't know if it's normal that when going to buy a Ferrari, I had to try 20 to find a good one, the truth is absolutely nonsensical... honestly and forgive me for saying this but nobody beats Paul Reed Smith in finishes... one can complain about whatever you want about PRS, but they offer you what you pay for and that's a reality and you don't have to look for 20 for a decent sound and its quality control can be acceptable... as long as we continue paying for Gibson without offering labor perfect, they will continue to do everything wrong because we accept it that way... it's a shame, really... I sincerely hope you don't mind my comment but that's what I feel with Gibson. make the guitars the way you want it doesn't matter if they have quality control failures or they won't sell the same... sorry for saying what I really think about Gibson...😢 With other brands you pay a high level of qualified work and quality in every way, but today Gibson only lives for one thing: money, without caring about the dreams of people and the hard work one does to raise those amounts of money to fulfill a dream and that when you open it you find poorly finished fingerboards, inlays with a lack of filling, wood shavings under the paint that looks and feels lumpy and a long etc...

Fret end nibs don't line up with the frets. Pot cavity has messy finish where the cover sits. $7000 😮

The high end Gibsons need to be played with much more attack, to get the full spectrum of what they're capable of. Play harder & they really come alive. Also, no effects necessary. Just a good valve amp' & a 4x12.

Worst part of the whole experience is the junk Lifton Case. Nice to have, but wouldn't protect the guitar from anything but rain.
