I have both. Just sold the L00 and kept the LG2. I found the LG2 more versatile over all.

You lucky thing for having both (!) I have my eye on only one alas. As it's just for fingerpicking I'm more tempted by the smaller L-00 as I love the size and vintage vibe, and want a fundamental tone with less overtones. I have my strumming needs catered for by my OM-16 Martin.

L-00 was more in your face but not in a bad way. Both of them are very nice for what they should be used for - blues, folk singer/songwriter styles...

Great comparison as I've been looking at both models. In the side-by-side at the end of the video, the L-00 seems warmer and more balanced, with more pronounced mids. Personally, on this showing I prefer it to the LG-2 as I don't like brightness and want a bit more compression. The L-00 vintage headstock script is also a definite bonus, along with the darker burst.

The LG-2 with an inlaid peghead script beats out stenciled paint.

Both are awesome. I have a feeling that the L-00 in this video is a particularly good one while the LG-2 is an average example. My LG-2 is rich and full and I think sounds bigger than the L-00 in this video. I have an L-00 sized guitar as well, and while it is very loud for its size, my LG-2 has more “big guitar” character to the sound. Essentially, you need both!

Sound try the Nathaniel Rateliff LG-2. Normally I don’t like Artist models, but this one doesn’t advertise itself as such and has some cool bling upgrades. And the sound is f*cking incredible!! They really nailed it with that model.

I had a original 1936 L-00 but sold it (regret it to this day) bought a Gibson Blues King which is basically a L-00 but I’ll tell you it was crap compared to the original. Neck was wrong and sounded bland. Maybe custom shop stuff with aged top and correct neck profile will be better.

I played several LG2s along with several different J45s. There's no question that the J45 is the superior guitar. It's not the "boom" of a bigger body, it's just a more balanced and "american" sound. LG2 is cool for sure, but I wouldn't consider it as a primary guitar. Good for a collector to add to the collection.

I can't believe they haven't made a new LG-0 since mahogany is gaining a ton of popularity. I don't think anyone would fault them for making them xbraced as opposed to the original ladder bracing.

Hey, could you guys please compare a gibson j45 with a martin d28? I know, different woods, but they are both the most popular models for these two popular brands, and you could explain to us the difference between rosewood vs mahogany and the classic gibson sound vs the classic martin sound. Gee, you guys really are stepping all over one another and dont seem to have it together. The differences are much more considerable. Hide Glue and a torrified adi top changes everything dramatically, certainly the price by $1500. And I don’t think the same appointments are currently available on the L00. Hides glue et al

@richardlucascronley5128
@richardlucascronley5128 Год назад
Pretty much what the CEO7 is based on, it’s a Gibson made by Martin. That’s part of what makes it so great. But, the longer scale and Adirondack top of the CEO7 makes them a completely different beast.
@johnwashburn3793
@johnwashburn3793 Год назад
@Richard Lucas Cronley Yes, I am aware. I imagine that the wider nut of the CEO 7 would make more of a difference to most players than the 24.9 over the 24.75 scale length, but my wife would say "size matters"

Jazz guitarist Mike Moreno has an older small-body Gibson, and he has a magnetic pickup in the soundhole. I have no idea what amps and pedals he uses, but he manages to make it sound like a jazz guitar, nd I'd be very interested to know how he has achieved this feat. Here's a link to a video of him accompanying jazz singer Gretchen Parlato in a NY jazz club: ru-vid.com?search_query=gretchen+parlato+live+at+the+cachaca+club+in+ny+cminor7add9th

Eastman beats gibson at its own game. East man makes some very good small vintage gibson style guirars . Down to the red spruce tops,long slot is saddles,and black sunburst varnish finishes. A very good value ,and exelent playability and sonic power.

But they don't sound like a Gibson.
@John-wr6yo
@John-wr6yo 9 месяцев назад
@MrStringpicker nothing is going to sound like a gibson,except a gibson. Of course duh... because they are gibsons. Not all consumers can afford an overpriced american made gibson,that is if there still is such a thing. The attraction of the eastman company products is that first of all they are affordable . Thier red spruce tops and torrifactions are more affordable than the big three other major producers. I got tired of gibson just being one way sbout thier products. Just about the same neck profile on all of thier guitars,and red dyed lacquer finish tops. I confess i am a sucker for a gibson banner j45 ,or j55 . Alot of the attraction of the gibson acoustics are adornments and the hype of bling. They are finally producing guitars that sound real good with red spruce tops,but the price is unbelievable,and on alot of them they still come out of the case with plastic bridge pins and shitty plastic ivorioid bindings. For what you pay for todays gibson ,there better not be any pladtic on them at all,and they better do everything short of walking and talking.
