IMO, the stock pups are really wonderful and the guitar is perfect as is. The clean to slightly crunchy tones are amazing, and I'm not really an SC fan. My Pelham Blue model came with a really good setup, Haven't changed a thing yet.
Couple of things. I think the Captain is influencing my improvising and that jam at the end was awesome to listen too before Stairway had even kicked in! My favourite jam thus far I think from a review video.
I think that Capt Lee was thinking about the gibson trapeze bar tailpiece when describing the trapezoid inlays..Honest mistake, probably have done it myself once or twice..BTW I LOVED YOUR VERSION OF STAIRWAY....; - )
I own a p90 and regular standard with bigsby. P90 version is so amazing. I have it tuned down 2 steps and sound great. I loved owning strats and les Paul's. But God rid of all of them and replaced them with midtowns. They are the best guitars I've ever played in my 20 years.
PS I read that the top is Maple. back mohogany and who knows about the sides, probably ply wood, but still a great sounding and working guitar and at the close out special price... just nice. rock on
I know. That's the difficult part. I really love the clean tones the neck area of a Strat can deliver, but it's always incredibly bright and twangy. Still, they sound great. The only P-90 endowed guitar I've gotten to play was a Gretsch with P90s in it. For me, Midtowns are hard to come by while high-end Strats are freaking everywhere. I like the thickness off humbuckers but not the fact that they are so muddy, and I like the liveliness of Strat single coils but not the suped-up brightness
Thanks guys, been waiting for this demo.Very nice clean sounds but it's not really suited to high gain shenanegens.Noise shouldn't be a problem as long as you keep the gain low. Do I prefer it to the humbucker version? Mmm,dunno--jury's still out.
God these are good looking guitars. The headstock is a bit.....iffy, in my opinion, but I could live with that, cause that red one that Chappers is playing is just gorgeous! Any chance of some Explorer or V reviews? =P
Great Demo, love the Pelham Blue guitar, agree with the previous comment on the headstock its not ugly but its reminiscent of a PRS headstock almost, and the lack of 4 controls, its a personal belief of mine all guitars should have individual tone and volume controls but thats just me.
Trap-uh-zoid I haven't seen to kid before, but he did the stairway faux pas & they delivered an interesting version! I don't care for the P-90, but that sounded great.
caps playing may not be fast but every note just fits. its great because he is not just another robot playing scales at a seingle tempo between notes. anyway.......
Midtowns are closer to a Les Paul in size and are considerably less expensive than 335s. Personally, I much prefer Midtowns to 335s. With humbuckers, I find that the Midtown is more versatile and, in my experience anyway, Midtowns play much, much nicer.
