Truly, there are few instruments in music history as legendary as Greeny, a 1959 Les Paul that has basically exclusively been owned and played by some of the biggest names in rock and roll. First, it helped Peter Green put a British spin on the blues for years with Fleetwood Mac. Then, Peter Green sold it to Gary Moore, who used it to rock every jukebox in the world with Thin Lizzy. Finally, it made its way to Metallica's resident super-shredder Kirk Hammett, who purchased it a few years ago and has been playing shows with it (it ain't a museum piece!) ever since.
If Greeny could talk, it would definitely have some stories to tell! Now, our friends at the Gibson Murphy Lab have made it possible for you to be a part of the Greeny story by producing an exacting reissue of the original, and they are truly breathtaking wooden tone stallions! The artisans at the Murphy Lab age each Greeny to mimic the wear patter of the original, and they even reversed the neck pickups magnetic polarity so you can cop that out-of-phase tone that graced so many iconic records over the years.
It's provides a truly wonderful vintage-style playing experience, and we have no doubt it will inspire some lucky Gibson aficionado to plug in, turn up, and rock out!

That’s great example. Sounds awesome. Some guitars are just special and sound better than others in same batch even.

Great sound Greg! I enjoyed that D string up and down the neck hammer on the E string thinga mabob at 1:40 . That was different. .I'll be incorporating that into my arsenal of stolen licks, techniques and other assorted bits of insanity.

BTW IMHO pricing was just messed up. It costed more than real Tom Murphy guitars. You could buy 2+ 1959 Murphy Lab reissues for it. Still they sold. I own Murphy Lab guitar because it was the best sounding Les Paul in the Shop. But I haven’t payed so much more than what normal Custom Shop guitar costs.

The most confused guitar ever...I mean the whole neck pickup thing is one of nature's greatest mysteries and now it's all like "am I a Kirk Hammett, a Peter Green or a Gary Moore signature" guitar? Maybe it's my end of the workweek ears, but this is the first example I've heard where I think that the neck pickup on it's own sounds really unique. And I know that everyone talks about the out phase sound....and it's so "one trick pony" to me, but it's a pretty good trick. The question is whether it has fret nibs and at least one good neck break? Cool guitar.

I love Gary Moore but I’ll always consider Greeny THE Peter Green guitar.
