One of my fathers favorites. He was a truck driver(tanker). Dad passed away this week at 80myears of age. I remember the day he taught me to drive that big truck , I was 14 years of age. Came to this site to reminisce and try to fill an empty spot from within my body. Memories of dad and listening to songs that he loved
You may never get this- as you posted it a few years ago - but I came here for the very reason as you, just this past week, my Dad w/6 million safe driving miles behind the wheel, passed at 85 years old - I hope it gets easier over the years. Blessings.
One of my favourites from the first time I ever seen a big rig pull in our driveway. Brought tears to my eyes then and still does to this day. My Husband is a truck driver and My Father-in-law's a truck driver and my Boys getting his license as we speak. Blessings each and everyone of you, to the true truck drivers🙏🏼💪🏼 may Jesus always bring you home❤
All this brings back from my childhood to. My daddy was a trucker. Hauled milk for Michigan Milk Producers Association. Many times I went with him to Harbor Beach Michigan then down to Detroit. Every night getting home around 10 or 11 at night. Sure do miss him. Had all these songs memorized when I was a child. Bless the truckers who risk their life for all of us.
i ; fell ,I must tell this story, once their was a man who decided to raise a family after serving in the navy, In 1964, yes the time of the atack on PEARL HABOR. This truckers cb handle was ,Easy rider. His over the road trucking carear, lasted 45 years. this man name is. William c Paxson of ALLINACE OH. raised 6 children. My dad pass away in 1995.The most heart worming thing that could EVER happen, when his body was lifted into the hurse, tears flow from every eyes in the lot as t5he TRUCKERS from all ove ths country.started sounding their horns one by one, a true over 200 trucker salute.G OD bLESS'ALL OF YOU TRUCKERS.
Red Sovine was one of the greatest country singers for Truckers. Amazing songs he made. He had some that were not about trucks and those were good to, but most of them seemed to be for Truckers. My grandfather was a trucker for some time. He told me some funny stories.
I just lost my dad 10/27/2021, he had been truck driver for more than 30+ years. I was raised on truck driving songs all of my life, especially my many favorite from Red Sovine, like Teddy Bear, Giddy up go, and Phantom 309.
I'm a 27 year old trucker and all I could do was put myself in this guy's shoes. This is real music, that can make you feel something! Now like the modern rubbish of today. Just copied pasted and spat out the back of a computer.
I was a proud trucker for about 35 years until I was forced to retire being on the road cost me a wife and I missed a lot of my daughters life, well all you truckers be safe
I grew up in a trucker's family. I too know the sadness of dad being away from home just not as stastic as the song. My thoughts and memories as a trucker myself go to those who move this country on trucks. My respect and dedication to the old timers and the mid to the new who handle this job every day of the week.
I live in a truckers family. I know how it feels to be with out a dad. My father is a trucker which he hauls livestock. I respect this song cause of it. But I want to follow in his steps.
When I first started listening to this song it reminds me of the Truckers back Home. Florida. New a few Truckers. Always enjoy hearing this song. Just a word of Thank s for all you Truckers for helping delivering the freight. God-Bless you Truckers.
My name is Tony Paxson like you. d addy would give us kids a ride in that big rig, but we all ceyed, when he left ;because we;all knew it would be 3 week or so before ,Daddy would be home again.HE MISSED BIRTHDAYS, And os much more, I understand, what those songs realy mean, god bless u.
❤❤I loved this song so much when I was growing up I love truckers and all of very beautiful semi trucks when I found out that this was a true story ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Started driving truck in 1987, I'm now 62 and still driving. I passed along my knowledge to my son who is still driving and to those who I trained over the years. I am saddened to see what has happened to the industry, I used to love my job, in fact I never referred to it as a job, it was a lifestyle. Now it's a job, I'm looking forward to retirement now, counting the days.
Trucker wife he's in heaven now but we loved this song and all of Red Sovine music. People just don't understand what the truck drivers go through, have to be there to see it and how stupid drivers can be with the big rigs coming down and they play tag?? no idea what they are doing.
These songs bring me to tears because I used to sit in my late grandfathers lap listening to his vinyl records with him and it reminds me of the amazing times as a kid 😭 they are good tears
Reminds me of Dad. Red Sovine was a favorite of his. He drove a truck at times. As a child of the Depression, and a veteran of two wars, he always had a side hustle or three, trucking was one. He taught me. And I remember Red Sovine on the radio. My much younger wife cries every single time Red Sovine plays on one of the music apps.
This song brings back a lot of great memories when I was a lot younger it one of the best trucker songs I was about 5 when I first heard it playing on the radio
I grew up at the tail end of CB radio and used it daily for fun with my friends, but no matter what technology comes forth, like the telegraph was the pioneer in national communication, CB radio and HAM, these were the first modern pioneers in national mobile communications that will never die. RIP, Red.
some beautiful trucks....love this song, my dad was a trucker, lost him in 2004. i been trucking for 35 years now, doing local now but miss the big road...
Not my usual listening pleasure but today I'm missing my Daddy knowing I'll never see him pulling up in his big rig again. Pancreatic cancer claimed his life and took my Daddy away, from his 7 children.
Every time I go camping my mum and dad let my brother and I pick an album to pick and I always pick the one that says old truck songs because I know this one is on it as well as teddy bear and teddy bears last ride
That was my first words too even before that song even came out too I said the same thing to my dad too he was and owner operator too back in the early 50s too kh
Love this song when I was a kid, still do really, are there some of that continues to bug me. Why didn't the wife leave a note, telling her husband exactly where she was going with their kid 😕
It is, He was gone so long on the road that he didnt know what was going on with his family, and by the time he came back they just up and dissapeared, and nobody knew where they went, and knew how much his son loved trucks and his father. His son was the one with the brand new rig that pulled up around his father and both trucks had the name "Giddy Up Go", thats when they pulled into the truck stop, and got to knowing each other, and then found out his wife sadly died, and rode into the night
That b52 mack good luck that truck had 352 cumines motor that rig was one heck fig nothing could stop it two stick rig only not out interstate I could nt miss gear have stop midow start over
I think of a lot of my trucker family when it was real we run together and no matter what we cross paths and back then and now it's nothing all the truckers in my day wore boots blue jeans and black and we were proud now flip flop and trying to hurt no respect I guess yesterday is really gone and many have passed on like craw daddy country boy Paul Bunyan pop t I really miss my trucking brothers and there many more than ran cross country and they called me billy the kid good bye my brothers we were men
