tatoos are not bad. it is the message on most tatoos that is bad. most people have bad messages on tatoos, but they have good stuff on their tats so its all good and it aint bad. (just my opinion)
Funny thing is I haven’t even sated my personal opinion, but just provided scriptures. In that verses Samuel was underestimating Eliab based on his appearance. @ben Emerson: the reason I feel the way I feel about tattoos is because its a vane thing. Just think about it. GOD and Christ dont need our tattoos to glorify them. They are perfect. We humans get them to adorn our bodies because we think they somehow make our bodies more beautiful then what GOD already made them. As if we can do better.

Dude the info you posted there is miss leading and is not in the bible at all(Leviticus 19:28). is specifically dealing with the pagan religious rituals of the people living around the Israelites. It was a pagan ritual to shave heads, pull hair, cut the body, and tattoo it for the sake of the dead (sun worship). This is what that chapter in Levitcus is speaking about. So it is still wrong to do those thing in that context, or attempt to adopt those customer to praise God.
Our appearance should not be the mechanism to reach sous. In fact God frowns upon that mechanism because it’s not a reliable. God has very detailed instruction on how not to praise him, and for that reason he is not pleased when people mark their bodies for his name sake, because he doesn't like to be worshiped as other God’s are. The word says "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." If you can fake praise, how much can you fake it with a tattoo? This is why God has instructions on how to praise. You have yet provided a verse that states the intent overrides the action.

If I slice my arm with a knife (not a deep cut), and proclaim to be for God, how would that be different than letting a tattoo artist scar my body for God’s glory? Let look at this from God’s perspective, not by man’s ideas. This why it’s a dangerous idea, because where do we stop, who sets the limits? So do we o dedicate how many tattoos is enough based on our emotions? God created us in their image, so we should not alter his creation in a permanent way.
