I don't shave every day either. I wait till it itches and take it off. Although, since Ive been making shaving videos, Ive been shaving more out of the fun of it. Im always plotting my next shave.

Twice a week usually for me and unfortunately very rarely get to use my own razors as i am always shave testing others that i have restored.

it seems to me that straight razor needs only 1 pass, while my Aristocrat #15 Open comb safety would need 2-3 passes for baby smoothness. Also it's funny that i could be daydreaming while using the Aristocrat, but for this i would be wide awake, that's for sure.

Lets be clear. A straight razor from my personal collection will butcher a 10 day beard, let alone every day stubble. You will only need one pass. A straight razor is the sharpest razor because it is hand ground from scratch from a single block of steel, then honed to perfection and if looked after, will last your lifetime. I have had an Aristocrat, beautiful razor, no doubt. However, after shaving with my Gold plated Gillette Aristocrat, i can shave immediately, just for the record with any of my vintage straight razors and take off MORE stubble. How do you explain this? Certainly, you will have to polish up your skin after one pass for perfection, this is quite normal as any Barber will tell you. However, the point is this.....using a shavette razor as most Barbers do for hygene reasons, does not compare to a vintage razor made from sheffield steel, or solingen, or thiers. These places naturally have the best steel ground up from the ground and so create the best steel for your razor and hand ground to prefection. End result, a perfect razor that will last your lifetime, not a disposable thing of the past ....hopefully.

@@pixsellpix agreed, i have to hit an area, from North, South, Vest & East with an Aristocrat to get a baby bottom. That's why i want to try the real deal, until they disappear for good or the bastards "forbid" us this privilege as well. I'll still keep my Aristocrat15 since it is a very damn pretty. How would a Double Arrow 66 be as a starter? I'm trying to find your vids on which to avoid.

@@arncj18 ANY OF MY RAZORS are the real deal!!! THATS THE POINTOF MY VIDEOS. The point of my vids is not for you to buy from somwhere else, it is the point of buying from my etsy site so you know precisely what you are buying. I think you have missed the point of my vids in the first instance. ALL of my razors will give you a BABYS BOTTOM.

Did the razor come that sharp or did you have to hone/strop it first? If so, what did you hone with?

Hi and thanks for your question. The razor was sharp, but not sharp enough to have a comfortable shave with, it needed to be refreshed. When i restore a blade, i always re-set the bevel and start from scratch. I re-set the bevel on a 1000 grit whetstone then progress to a 3000 grit stone, then 6000 grit, 8,000, then 12,000 and finish with a 15,000 grit fine whetstone. From there i progress to a chrome oxide pasted strop, then to a 0.25 diamond pasted paddle strop. To finish, i do 100 laps on a horse hide strop and another 100 laps on a delicate sealskin paddle strop. This proceedure will guarantee a smooth, comfortable shave and pass a HHT* test anywhere along the blade. *HHT means a hanging hair test. Hold a human hair between your finger and thumb about 5mm showing and the bring the blade up to the hair and it will "POP" the hair.

Graham, you are the one who inspired me to grow facial hair, so I have to ask what the end game is with the stache?
@pixsellpix
@pixsellpix 5 лет назад
Good question. Patience with my tache is a must...very slow growth plus the left side grows faster than the right side. If this is a common thing i am not sure but i am always trimming the left side so the right side can catch up. I suppose the end game is a big curly tache. I get a few funny looks, usually from old people and kids who STARE at you without being aware that they are staring until i pull my tongue out at them LOL. I see you have a really fast growing beard there, good for you. In your vid, you mention you have parkinsons disease, how did you find out you had this?

Slow growth and ginger is a dubble-whammy. My right hand wouldn’t quite cooperate, especially in repetitive chores such as stropping and brushing my teeth. Went to a neurologist who saw it straight away. It’s a shit disease but it’s what made me start my channel, so you are welcome, world!

Oh right i see. I saw a video about Billy Connelly, a great favourite of mine and he carried on "performing" despite his illness. Billy said "I have discovered i have Parkinson's disease and i wish i could give it to him back". Very funny guy.
