This grip is really helpful for beginners too, because you can quickly and easily take it off to check thickness, and pop it back on and continue trimming with it centred. Would be interested to see a video on your new kiln installation and how you programme it. Thanks 🙏 😊

Yes, that's another really useful aspect. I should do that more often than I do! I don't think I will do anything on the kiln setup. It's an area that I don't know enough about to be sure I was giving good advice, and it has the potential to go more seriously wrong than anything else I post videos about.

I completely agree on the Giffin Grip... mine is 14 years old and still kicking. Only issue I have is when trimming bowls...if not dry enough, it will distort the rim.

Yeah, I try and make sure I trim everything with relatively dry rims to keep that to a minimum, but that is one downside!

Besides my wheel and my kiln the Giffin Grip is my most useful tool in the studio! I’ve actually learned a lot from you about all the uses, thanks!

I just bought one but I'm struggling with it. It's supposed to self center but the "feet" wiggle and don't seem to center. What am I doing wrong? I should mention mine is the newer version and the "feet" don't look like yours.

Very hard to say without seeing it, but Giffin Grip are quite quick to respond in my experience, so I'd send them a video of it not working and see what they say

This is actually ideal for hobby potters. You likely don’t have the professional trimming skills in the first place. If your time and budget are limited to spend on this hobby, why risk compromising your work and other investments if trimming is taking hours and messing up your work?
