>be wong tou >literally has the best dynamic intro in the franchise >gets casually written off the franchise a couple chapters later what a fucking chad
literally Defiant Charm lol my favorite track in the entire game yet it only plays in Chapter 4 but, i advise to play it via Spotify during the Club Guilty fight. it fits perfectly
I've wondered what would of happened if Kiryu chucked that dude out of the window instead. Wouldn't be the first he's done that. Does Wong still get branded a traitor? If so that's rough.
there is no way they wasted him like that after giving him one of the best antagonist introductions ever, dude had so much potential i was happy he was on our team
It's cool to see that Ichi is finally starting to kick some ass in his dynamic intros and QTEs, you can really tell that he has grown alot since the last game.
Can't believe Wong Tou was such a wasted potential because they hype this guy in the Overseers trailer alongside with Bryce Fairchild and Dwight Mendez.
Every one agrees that this guy was wasted potential, and I think that's why 'that' scene is a tragedy for him too. Because of what he could have been. It felt like he was being set up to join the party at some point, but just didn't. It's a real shame.
coping extremely hard that he'll come back in 9. his theme shall not be wasted. edit: i always come back to this video bc of the dynamic intro. that double deflect of kiryu's kick and ichi's rolling sobat is NUTTY everytime. action choreographer went hard!! LET MY MAN SEE HIS SON.
@@koroo2891 hanawa got shafted HARD holy shit, kiryu didn't even react, especially stings after the shit that happened in gaiden. I think gaiden was written after 8 but got released earlier due to being smaller in scale and to build hype for 8
Spoilers I legit ended feeling bad for Wong. Altrough aformidable opponent on his own right he was saddly outmatched by the big conspiracy. It still hurts he went down so suddendly...darn barrauddas and the traitor
Wong Tou was such a wasted character, he had ALL the potential to be one of the best antagonists of the series, or if not an antagonist, he could have being an unespected friend. Even the sub-plot of his son being kidnapped was left open. Honestly, I get angry by the way Wong was so wasted by RGG
I find it funny how despite having a cutscene where Chitose and Tomizawa walk in with them, they're nowhere in this intro, not even in fighting stance against the other gangsters.
@@guilhermebrasil8333nah, this happens with a lot of bosses like, Dwight only has ichi and chitose, and all the dynamic intros in 7 only have ichi. I suspect that it's because they can't think of good enough things for the party members to do, so they include only the ones they think are needed.
I’m getting tired of RGG having so many BANGER themes play only once or thrice. THIS song, the Barracuda theme, and “Fog” from Lost Judgement. Very grateful that Fog plays like, 2-3 more times in Kaito Files at least.
@@turboshell it only played for about 3-4 times? Should’ve been a LOT more, and I never got to hear the 2nd part of the song until we fight Yamai and waves of his goons.
the dynamic intro is actually interesting, before the title sequence, Kiryu does his iconic roundhouse kick, while Ichiban does a similar move but in a different direction
When you step onto the dance floor and immediatly need to kick some serious ass. Also love that dynamic intro, both to see Kiryu and Ichiban doing some sweet tag team action and to see them realise that Wong Tou isn't going to be such a pushover.
People keep talking about wasted potential as if wong tou isn’t going to return in the next game lmao this is RGG we’re talking about guys. Him and hanawa will both be back. There’s no way characters with this much marketing and lore are going to be killed off like that (or killed off at all, since RGG doesn’t like doing that)
Idk, Namba actually seemed plot critical, serving as Kiryu’s health advisor, alongside being the reason Kiryu made a Bucket List to begin with. I’d say he and Adachi both played fairly well into the story, seeing they were affected by Tatara Channel, unlike the rest of the original Like A Dragon party. Now Saeko and Joon gi on the other hand? Saeko’s plot relavence began and ended with the seldom screentime she spent in the game with Ichiban. Joongi was added so late into the game, using him as a part member was kinda an afterthought, but at least they made up for it by giving him the funniest drink link in the game. But yeah, the way Wong was set up, you’d think he’d have played a bigger role besides one fight and getting sidelined for 3 chapters, only for him to go out like a punk. I do feel like he was wasted potential. Yamai, on the other hand, served his purpose and then some. Personally, I wished Akane was still more plot crucial than she really was. After the final cutscene in chapter 11, she and Ichi really never interacted again. The story was fine, but I feel like we missed out on a few paces, and the story began to rush itself at the very end. Think we should have gotten at least one more chapter to flesh out some of these less utilized characters.
@@gianncmedina7805 both have so much wasted potential. Wong Tou was so hyped up as an important villain in the game but in the end he just felt like a victim to me, not even an antagonist. Hanawa idk much about since I didn't get to play Gaiden yet but I do believe it's a pretty shitty death, I kind of liked him and felt like his death was too abrupt.
A cool intro and a good boss fight. It makes you think that this guy's gonna be a party member or something importat later on but they just kill him off. What were the writers thinking I wonder?
maybe not a party member because he prob would have been on the cover art but yeah it does kinda suck him and the ganzhe weren't a bigger part of the story
RGG must hate the Chinese characters: Lee, Oda, Tachibana, Lau ka Long(yes I know he still alive), Wong…etc all dead essentially and most in the first game we see them in.
Unironically, i actually had it accidentally play out fittingly right for this. Because i unlocked the Casino attire for Ichi right before this fight legitimately, and just decided to equip it. Little did i know it'd actually be fitting to use in the next battle -
Personally, I don’t think Wong Tou is going to be completely shafted. I believe that his _son_ will be important later on. I have this feeling since it would be a striking parallel to Lani becoming Sage of Palekana. They both lost their parents (possibly both to contingency plots by Bryce) at a young age and then become the sole inheritors of giant groups that both have a preexisting connection. In fact, Lani might technically still have serious influence over a huge number of Ganzhe members through the residual brainwashed insiders. I could definitely see Lani sending whatever remnants of Bryce’s soldiers who remain loyal upon the discovery of his illegitimacy to care for and protect the little guy until he can grow up to properly lead them. He could be an ally for trying to protect Wong before his death or a foe who wants to get revenge for the assassination in the safe house. It feels like too much of an opportunity for RGG to ignore.
There's really nothing more to do with Hawaii now that Bryce is gone, unless RGG is full set on just abandoning Japan and making Ichiban be more plot-attached to Hawaii to keep reusing the map. But Wong Tou can return sure, I always figured it'd just be revealed in a spin-off like Judgement or something where Yagami has to fight Ganzhe enemies same with how he fights Liumang in LJ, and just casually reveal Wong Tou survives and is back to controlling and cleaning up the group since Bryce is gone. There are plenty of options for Wong to return, the only problem is RGG writing is weird in that you never really know if they plan stuff or not or they care about fairly safe writing. Hanawa is killed unceremoniously in IW despite becoming a fan favorite after Gaiden came out. So it's clear they didn't know this was gonna happen, because let's say you skip Gaiden, or if Gaiden just didn't exist (which it kinda did since it was only made 6 months while they worked on IW), Hanawa's death wouldn't really be much of a problem, in context of his appearance outside Gaiden he just seems like a face to put with Daidoji, nothing more.
@@PurpleTanooki nah Joon and Zhao were late additions, I'm pretty sure Wong Tou just really had that as his plot. If they had Wong ready to join early on then he'd be there, even without Joon.
Coming back to this after replaying the game lol, has one of the best dynamic intros in the series only to be a complete disappointment and waste of a character Edit: and song obviously, insane theme for a filler guy lmao never change rgg
what a waste of villain space, his inclusion in the game did nothing impactful, either remove him and replace him with a better written dwight, or another set piece
@@charliemcmillan4561 I hate her type of character. She is always doing something behind your back and it eventually gets characters killed and is completely forgiven for it.
what happened to this guy's kid? they showed it like it was such a big deal only to be abandoned later on. same with nishitani and shishido and many other characters. this game is a mess and is below average
Idk If you finished already so here it comes spoilers: They found out his kid on the last Island you Go with Ichiban party, so after defeating bryce they rescued him but what happened after is definetely not explained I can see saying the story is a mess but i think It's REALLY unfair to say It's below average, he definetely has a Lot more of high ups compared to 7 and has some of the most fun content
@@yohschannel5226 yeah took that scene into account. Chitose saying "hey guys pls take care of the kid" to palekana citizens doesn't make a satisfying end to that story you know... Also in my opinion 7 was way better at what it was trying to do. Though I agree with you on the fun times! I had so much fun throughout both games. It's just the finale of this one wasn't satisfactory.
@@ImJamieGrey that's just how I feel, the four, the end of denial and that receive you remix at millennium tower are the only songs in the game i really like.
Compared to the other games, I think you're kinda right. But for me, is not thar Infinite Wealth's OST is bad, is just that the OST of the games before IW was just fucking PEAK
