great review . exactly what i wanted to see . much better review than other youturbers , ( jayz , linus, etc) . i got the gaming oc card this morning and is a bliss . i highly recommend it .
I actually keep my 4090 outside my ITX case with a riser cable. Even if I could fit it in a slightly bigger case than NR200, I don't know if I want to sacrifice the easy cooling.
got my 4080 rtx in a itx case. But those cards really don't need to be any bigger in the future. No way that i will ever buy a high tower case again way to much hassle especially if you game upstairs with a narrow gate at the stairs xD
@@leroygic294 if you can afford it yes, it runs cool, since it has the same cooler a 4090 uses, no coil whine, it’ll get a little noisy if u adjust fan speed but I’ve never had it reach above 55 C while gaming.
Hello. Can you recommend this card? Or is it better to take other brands? Trying to choose between Colorful Advanced and Gigabyte Gaming OC. How noisy is the Gigabyte fan?
@@stefan_es I have the gigabyte OC and the temps are amazing, and even overclocking the core clock to 2950, the temps don't raise, therefor it stays pretty quiet.
I just got a 4080 Aorus Master used and the fan curves with the old bios is a true horror. Unfortunately the new bios fixes a lot of the issue, but having a custom fan curve is still the way to go, the cooler is really good and with 1100 rpm (base rpm) the card doesn't go higher than 75°
Fantastic comparative review, Nada. I agree with the incorrect pricing of the RTX 4080 cards relative to the decreased performance in comparison to the RTX 4090. I will be purchasing the Asus TUF Gaming 4090 here in Toronto, Canada for my primary work station. Here in Canada the standard Asus TUF RTX 4090 retails for $2,199.00 while the TUF RTX Gaming OC Edition retails for $2,499.00. I would rather spend the additional money on the RTX 4090 to receive maximum performance in the professional CAD software and CFD tools that I use. Professional engineering software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Catia and Pro Engineer have always performed better on Nvidia chips from GeForce to Quadro.
I have a big case, and I really wanted that Aorus Master. Now I'm not sure it will fit unless I vertical mount it. damn. I will be ordering one in about a week and a half. I thought I made up my mind on the Aorus master but now its back to the drawing board and figure out which one I will be ordering. wow this is a hard decision.
Couldn’t agree more with the aorus master.. I use Msi afterburner and made it so the fans run 24-7 at 800rpms. It’s plenty quiet and when I need more cooking it slowly ramps up. This cards cooling is actually insane I’ve never seen a card cool soo good. It is almost like water cooling level.. it’s crazy.
I had a high end build in an 011 mini air with a 3080ti. Got a 4080 as a gift and yeah, had to buy a new case, which then had me buying a newer larger cooler, and before long I just had an entirely new build. The absolute size of these gpus is ridiculous
Really weird choice by Gigabyte to set such fan profiles for both BIOS. Hope they come up with a fix but for now I just set my Aorus 4090 to the Silent profile because there's literally 0 benefit for the "Gaming" profile.
@@TechTesters I'll need to do more gami.. ahem "testing" to see the different behavior but if I cap the frame rates to match my monitor refresh it often won't spin the fans. 🤣
@@TechTesters I would assume most buying high end cards spend 2 minutes setting a custom fan curve anyway, personally I hate fan stop and always set a low RPM idle fan profile.
I just got the Aorus Master a couple of days ago and planning on getting the Gaming OC as well. I think the gaming OC will look great in the Dark Base 901 case from Bequiet.
hah i have the same 901 dark base and selecting the GPU currently between Gaming and Master. Personally i don't care how it looks since 901 stands on the floor. BTW i have a question. Did you had any issues with the width of the GPU + cable in that case after trying both of the cards?
@@vqa33 No problems so far. I tried to made sure all the bends were concentrated on the flexible part of the cable and managed to get the connector itself situated as straight into the header as possible. All in all im thinking of just getting a vertical mount so that the connector just hangs there freely without stress from the glass door.
Sounds like a you problem. What monitor doesn't have a display port? The Alienware 3423DW has pretty much been reviewed by everyone as the best OLED monitor, it has HDMI and Display port. Why blame it on the GPU rather than the monitor you chose? For 99% of buyers 1 HDPMI and 3 display ports is enough.
@@Cruor34 Alienware expensive Oled monitor vs great priced oled tv(with benefit of streaming apps like netflix), in my opinion TV way better as a non competitive gamer who want most of the benefits of the cream of the crop a no Brainer. And in my case I have the TV as main display for my 4k120 gaming, and then the second goes to a dolby atmos av system and then a secondary older/cheap 1080p monitor that does not have displayport. So I'm just one that likes to have choice in what I buy in various situations.
@@brettcoles5262 Any issues so far? I've got a used one here for $1k i'm thinking about getting. I've never liked gigabyte but it seems this specific master is on the top of everyones list near the strix and so I might have to go with it as any other 4080 used i'm finding are ones at the bottom of the 4080 lists.
Hello. And how do you like this card after a few months? Can you recommend it for use? Or is it better to look at other brands? I choose between Gigabyte Gaming OC and Colorful Advanced OC. How noisy are Gigabyte fans? Can they be fine-tuned with software?
I was waiting for the xtx to kill 4080 and it didn’t so I got a 4080fe model for 120 off msrp from bestbuy with a 10percent coupon. Pickup is dec31. I really wanted a 4090 fe but seems impossible to find.
How quickly people have forgotten the rediculus 3000 series cost . They started at $3000 and went to $5000 🤢. For the huge improvement with the 4090's , I can almost justify the cost but yes ,,, way way overpriced . Invidiots are crooks through and through
very detailed review. thanks a lot for pointing out the strange fan behaviour and the fact that the Gigabyte models are unnecessarily noisy. especially when considering the reused 4090 size radiators, which are basically overkill for the 4080. sloppy engineering imho.
gaming oc seems like great card for the price and has even real vapor chamber cooler unlike many other cheaper variants from other brands. msi gaming x trio for instance doesnt have vapor chamber. not sure about asus tuf.
Zotac is widely available here in my country but doesn't see any reviews anywhere would love to see how they perform compared to some of the cards here.
I grabbed the Trinity OC and it's fantastic. Zotac is going so far since their old days of having a black and yellow plastic chassis. I promise if you get the Zotac gaming Trinity OC you will not regret it and it's priced right
One thing that is extremely annoying is that the "Gigabyte Control Center" software does not work. Thus, you cannot adjust anything and edit the display.
Hello. Can you recommend this card? Or is it better to take other brands? Trying to choose between Colorful Advanced and Gigabyte Gaming OC. How noisy is the Gigabyte fan?
i heard it from others too about the issue with the fans going on and off , and i saw many ppl saying its easy to do a custom fan profile which u just spoke about hahaha ok will type it anw xD gj
I know that this was some time ago now, but what is your opinion on the lack of bracing on the I/O shield on the Aorus? Mine arrived bent, as although it connects to the PCB, the weight of the card is so much that it would require some more reinforcement there. It seems a bit of an oversight, as other cards that are larger have more screws to the shroud or something.
@@alexs.2069 It's Gigabyte's fault though for not bracing that area. If you look at their previous Aorus products, even the 3080 had another row of screws attaching the IO shield to the shroud. Gigabyte's quality has went to shit.
Nice cards - but over priced by £500, if and when they drop by that amount I’d consider one, but why the 7900xtx is priced at 999 that is what I’ll buy
I hope not, but I fear AMD price inflation will follow Nvidia's.. So I think you can forget about being able to buy a 7900 XTX for less than +/- 1100-1200 pounds as well any time soon.. Maybe later, when the prices drop considerably after sales have flopped for AMD, just like they are doing now for Nvidia with the RTX 4080..
Is that information about the display from the reviewers guide or did you actually test it? DerBauer tried to use it in his video and the software for it simply didn't work. It didn't work on the 4090 either.
Please test the ROG Strix 4080 OC if possible. I am getting incredible scores combined with a 13900k. Don’t get any PSU pulls above 450W and CPU seems not to go higher then 60 degrees avg on several benchmarks. I am impressed with these scores but wonder if it’s Unicorn benchmark.
I am getting a ASUS STRIX RTX 4080 non OC card cheaper than any 4080 super right now. Only option is a Gigabyte Gaming OC 4080 super at almost similar price. (i use gpus for AI and video editing, not for gaming) so reliability is a major concern. Should i buy ASUS strix 4080 non OC or Gigabyte 4080 super Gaming OC. please reply!
1329 euros was way to expencive for the 4080 Gaming OC but prices are what they are and i really needed that GPU to play at 60fps 4k finaly the 4090 was a no go for me cuz its 500 euros more expencive and uses 150watt's more power
@@brettcoles5262 What's the average clock with your 4080 Aorus Master with stock settings ? And what's STABLE overclock that you can achieve with the card ?
I was hoping she would emphasize more on the silent bios and fans going off and on over and over again. I believe gigabyte cards can only start at 30%. They don't gradually climb to 5%, 15, etc. At least that is what it has been like with previous gigagyte cards and my2080 super was the same way. I returned it because I couldnt stand my pc sounding like a dishwasher lol
I'll mention that when it happens of course. It doesn't happen to every GB card and it often only happens in specific situations. I don't remember exactly which other card it was, but I did go into it in another recent Gigabyte video where that was a problem.
The horrizon zero dawn lego piece is more intresting than 4080z, and that's sad Also sad are the rumors that AMD will launch a few reference design cards at first, for their parters to follow few weeks later And we are still talking about cards that will cost above 1000€, so we ll have to wait for after CES to see something reasonable
This stuff with fans behavior normal for gigabyte by the way is not new. I got gigabyte rtx 2060 super same behavior of fans. Is good be fixed manually with software default is no good anyway 59 degrees is way too hot fans to start then. They cant keep it cool if start that late and play something heavy. So best choice for those cards is set fan speed and temps manually with program
Hello. Can you recommend this card? Or is it better to take other brands? Trying to choose between Colorful Advanced and Gigabyte Gaming OC. How noisy is the Gigabyte fan?
If you have noise buy the strix or else go with the aorus. Also there is no coil whine in aorus card but strix has a lot of coil whine mostly. It's just lottery to get a strix without coil whine. But remember there is an Asus tax that is way too much than the aorus 4080 or 4090.😂😂
Gota 3090 suprim x for 820€ a few weeks ago. I'm good to skip this overly priced GPU genaration. To think that the 4080 is starting at around 1500€ here in europe is laughable. Not touching that crap.
@@antoniocampos1151 How's it been? I've got 2 $800 used 3090ti's i'm checking it. I'm scared to bump up my power bill with them but seeing as there's no good used 4080's on the market atm... Idk
The pricing of these videocards is not complicated, they are a disgrace, it's as simple as that.. €1700,- for a RTX 4080, you must be totally nuts to pay that for a RTX 4080 videocard.. These cards should have been like +/- €900,- max.. The industry still thinks they live in 2021 with a Covid19 crisis and crypto mining hype I think.. The real-world market has moved on though, so no wonder the 4080 hardly sells at all now.. People who spend these ridiculous amounts of money on a videocard are just gonna buy the best they can get, which is the RTX 4090..
Wow. I have 4 cm of space left for this dang card. May need to eliminate my push/pull config for my AIO and just go push...if that. A lot to think about. Might need to order another case to eliminate compromising, but I'll measure and go from there.
7:14 . this issue is not fixed till today, gigabyte is the worst in fixing fan curve and rgb software . i own 4070ti AERO because white build, and i have all issues mentioned here. fan spikes, non functional rgb sync with gigabyte mobo. if there will be other white card except overpriced ROG, i will buy it.
Don't bother with the master. RGB Fusion is dogshit and wont even detect the GPU so you can't actually customise the LCD screen. Just to confirm the Gigabyte software cannot detect the Gigabyte GPU plugged into the Gigabyte motherboard. Blows my fucking mind.
Did you install the Intel Serial IO driver? Without it the ASUS Armoury software won't recognise the GPU RGB either. edit: Not saying GB software isn't shit. It is.
