When I downsized my things ( I'm 69 years young) I gave away 600 vinyl albums. I kept 20 and 5 are Gil's this one included where I have it signed by Bilal Sunni Ali. That one is going to me in my grave! ❤

My dad and I have a bad relationship but when I was young he played Gil Scott for me and explained the importance of the songs and how good GSH was at describing the black experience. If I can’t thank my father for anything else I can thank him for passing the music down to me. I’m 40 now and I play GSH for my 12 year old son and I hope he appreciates the music the way I do.

So I had a seizure in April and I had to go to the ER. First person I called when I got out was my dad. I made up with him and now we’re cool again. I’m sitting here with my son typing this hoping that we never fall out like my dad and I did

This never gets old...though I do: at 65 years old, I can still feel the crowd in Crampton Auditorium at Howard U...Gil and the Midnight Band! Thank you, Gil and Brian. There was a fire in our bellies back then, and you fed it for us -true on-the-front-lines-revolutionaries and those of theory and methodical practice. Growing older can be a challenge but the cushions of experience make it not worth trading for anything...This man was a fabric of those cushions #lovemyHowardUandallthatthe70staughtme!!

this is a great live recording and his band is fucking tight as hell they are all perfectly in synch with eachother. I always heard Gil Scot always put on a good performance live and had an amazing band.

Thanks, you can’t stream this album anywhere but here. Wore out my vinyl version and the CD skips. Hard to find and one of my favorites. Introduced to this album when they played 17th Street on W3Soul radio in Saginaw back in the 70s

This was a good album that I listened to probably 50 times in the last year but now this video has ADs for some reason. I will find another version w/o ads thank you I don't think gil Scott would approve of someone trying to profit off his art. Note that all other gil-scott & Brian Jackson albums on RU-vid do not contain ads and no one has copyrights to them on Spotify or Pandora for some reason probably related.
