Very nice you are Teaching me alot I am a 50plus year old I still don't know much about fish because growing up I my Dad Ram use to catch fish and crabs and scrimp so my mom send me to the market to buy fish and I bought spoiled fish and from that day they never send me to the market again And still don't know how to buy fish so you make me learn alot

@ 20 dollars per pound in Orlando I enjoy it regardless LOL, the only way I buy I have to get a piece of the head like you said you will see the slight yellowing. It is very hard to tell regardless, here in the states freezer burns, etc...

Thanks for showing us the difference between gilbaka and curass. But Danny when the fish is frozen we cannot tell the difference. Then they will ask how much you want and will go in the back and bring it. So there's no way to choose. You know the price we are paying, we should have the gilbaka. Take care.

It's a common scam in NY - some dishonest vendors/shops selling kurass for gilbaka .. They add the yellow stuff on the thick skin kurass and pass it off as gilbaka...

Bro I love what you do. I really do. But there's so much that is missing here. I think the tables have turned. Indeed, we were getting 'Gilbaka' in the US that was truly what it's not supposed to be. Basically Pemecou. Mudcats. This is why the US banned it's sale.(There are other dubious reasons too based on what was found stuffed in the body cavity of these fish (think Colombia). The US has been shipping Yellow Cats or Yellow Tail catfish to Guyana for decades. These particular fish exhibit exactly what you display in terms of the yellow deposits of the meat and in the head section. True Gillbacker aka Scaides Parkeri cannot lose their distinctive 'yellowish' hue because they were washed or scrubbed or caught by seine. Furthermore, true Gillbacker have distinct barbels vs other catfish as well as much larger eyes relative to their head versus other imposters. It should be noted catching Gillbacker by seine (though possible on those lucky days) is less likely versus by traditional pole and hook with bait. Again, this is due to their predatory nature. What is the most nutritious unscale fish? Why is gillgaka so over rated? I love cuirass and all the high water, kakwari...people laugh at me when i go the market. Kakwari is very nutritious and healthily and tastier than gillbaka. Danny stop this shit about gillbaka because of you the local citizens can't afford their own simple sea foods. Those people who do colours of fish and shrimps ... that is what you should look into and call them out. If you want a better GUYANA.
