I’ll be 30 this year, I basically watched Kobe all my life he was my favorite player. The news of his death hit me as if he was a family member and I know the whole city felt the same. He was our superhero and the fact that he’s gone still doesn’t seem real. Im just glad players like Gil, Kyrie and others are here to tell great stories and speak on his legacy

My Mamba Moment, that lives rent free in my head to this day, happened December 22nd 2012 at Oracle Arena. It was my 17th birthday, as well as the first n only time I saw Kobe play in person. Man dropped 34 on 41 shots, but LA got the W in OT. 😂 The moment though, was seeing him fall after not getting a call he thought he should’ve gotten, after putting up a shot. As LA is running back to play D, he stays on the other side of the court, waiting. Warriors miss a shot, Lakers come the other way. As soon as Nash crosses half court, he throws a lob at the rim for Kobe n he stuffs it. Oracle that night was literally half Warrior fans, half Laker fans. When Kobe stuffed that lob though, the crowd literally exploded. I felt like I was supporting the visiting team it was so damn loud. 🤣 I was too young to process Jordan being born ‘95, but I’m blessed I got to witness Kobe. 💯 Happy Mamba Day everyone. My favorite Kobe moment is the forgotten moment that nobody talks about, and that is, I think it was in 2013, vs Hornets, he was having bad second half, 0/20fg and 0/10 from 3 point line, he had not scored a fg in second half, Lakers were down by 2 with seconds left in a game, any normal person would pass the ball, heck I've seen Lebron pass the last shot when he was 8/10 in a half, but not Kobe, he shot contested 3 and made a game winner, just audacity to take that 3 in closing seconds with kind of game he was having is ridiculous, and to make it, wow, that's when I knew he was the real goat, no fear what's so ever, make it when it counts, definition of clutch, I saw Trevor Ariza on Hornets bench laughing like did you not think he was gonna go for 3? good times.

Kobe WAS the king of LA. He spent 20 years pouring every ounce of his being to become the best player for the best LA sports team. What Gil said is correct, we watched him grow from a kid to a man, then fall. And he rewarded his supporters with giving it his all. No matter what game you watched from Kobe, you knew he was going to do everything he could to win. And he rebounded to became universally respected by his peers. Being at a Dodger game, and seeing Kobe’s copter fly in, to being shown on screen and get the loudest cheer and standing ovation possible. He was him.

1974, I became a Laker fan, watching Pat Riley, Kermit Washington, and the great Jerry West, coached by Bill Sherman, through the years there were great players, 1979 Magic Johnson got drafted to Los Angeles, Magic changed the way of basketball and how Magic made it more exciting to watch the Lakers, and then Kobe carried the torch for years, helping Shaq win his first championship , given his blood and sweat for the purple and gold 8/24, can't wait for the next Superstar , that will love the purple and gold just as much as they did, and hopefully they never beg for respect like LeBron did, in the Los Angeles Lakers jersey, the great Jerry Buss would be embarrassed. 1- Magic Johnson 2 - Kobe Bryant :Rest in peace 😢

I am a Suns fan. I hated Kobe. No one has ever changed my attitude towards them the way Kobe did. Killed us every postseason. After a while, seeing the consistency and relentlessness to never lose, my admiration and respect was not an option. He converted me. Lebron has and never will do that.

I know lifelong Laker fans that stopped watching basketball altogether when Kobe retired - & LeBron came aboard… Admittedly, I was skeptical at first… I fought it… I shrugged and threw my hands up in the air… But at the end of the day, the Lakers are the gold standard and have always been about winning above all else… so I got on board with it, much like I did when we signed GP and Malone 15 years prior…but at the end of the day, it was Kobe‘s embrace of LeBron that made it all OK…When Kobe opened up his arms to LeBron, it felt like it was OK for the city of Los Angeles to open up their arms to LeBron… and though it never fully felt quite right, it all seemed OK until Kobe’s passing…& though it was great to win the 2020 chip (* or not) in his honor, and have something to smile about when the world was on fire, it’s quickly turned sour shortly there after… Now the Lakers brass doesn’t feel like the family I grew up knowing… Jeannie & company seem to be in disarray… held hostage by an aging LeBron with virtually the same outcome looming every season… It feels like a marriage gone wrong… A divorce that should’ve happened years ago… Dear LeBron… It’s been real, and it’s been nice… But it hasn’t been real nice. 🎤✌️

Kobe was my idol growing up. I'm a Lakers fan because of Kobe. I can say I 100 percent hated Lebron for the first 10 years of his NBA career. I hated that people thought he was better than Kobe but as I got older I realized that's literally the definition of hating on somebody and I never wanted to be a hater. Now Lebron is my favorite current athlete and I've accepted that he's a better overall player than Kobe was. Kobe is still my favorite player ever but I don't think there's an argument for anyone being better than Lebron at playing basketball.
