I love the survivor who's talking about his experience like he's giving a Yelp review. "When I arrived at the scene he could have hit me over the head with a baseball bat or some other heavy object, but instead he tried to use a stun baton which didn't really work. He then pointed a gun at me, but I attacked him and discovered the gun wasn't even a real gun! He tried to punch me multiple times to knock me out but failed, in spite of my own lack of physical prowess. I even managed to get hold of the handcuffs that he was supposed to use on me. I thought he had a bigger plan for me but he just gave up. It was all so unprofessional. Not recommended. 1/5 stars."

This is the opposite of the truth, unfortunately. It's estimated that 1 in 25 people is a sociopath, even more than that are narcissists, and most of them are high functioning. They get away all the shit they do for their entire life because they're so good at lying and manipulation. Frequently they end up in positions of power e.g. lawyers, doctors, politicians, CEOs, etc.

@@sorryplease5071 I'm right there w/ you, man. I'm probly subbed to 8 or 10 channels just for raw interrogation footage, w/ another 4 or 5 or so for analysis. I'm "lucky" enough to have a job (shitty & menial as it is) at which I can pop in my earbuds for the entire shift, & for real after listening to all kinds of content to fill the time I've come to the conclusion that criminal interrogation footage is the best thing to listen to at work. It's perfect. It's quiet enuf to be able to hear coworkers talk to you. It's interesting enuf to hold your attention & help pass the time, while also being kinda monotonous & easy to zone out from if you want. This particular interrogation I've watched/listened to probly five times, & other ones a whole lot more than that...

How did he hope to get away if he gave his victim(s) directions to the garage he rented? This was bound to come up sooner or later. Others (cops) can follow the directions.
@Right_Said_Brett
@Right_Said_Brett Год назад
If you read the short film script which Mark Twitchell wrote, based on his real-life murder exploits, it essentially details exactly how he went about doing things. Once Twitchell had incapacitated his victim by using a stun rod and he had them tied to the table (or a chair, in the film script), he would proceed to tell his victim that if they complied and answered his questions, he would allow them to live but if they lied, he would torture and kill them (a lie, of course. He was never going to allow them to live). At this point, Twitchell would sit at his laptop (described in the script exactly as Twitchell's real-life laptop; with superhero stickers on it) and ask his victim what their password for various online sites were. The sites included the dating app Twitchell used to communicate with and lure his victim and their e-mail address. The reason Twitchell did this was so that he could delete all communications with himself or references to himself on sites, as well as send out e-mails from his victims address, post murder, posing as his victim, to try and explain to their friends and family why the had disappeared. This is why a friend of Twitchell's victim received an e-mail from "John Altinger" saying that he was eloping with a new found love named Jen. What Twitchel didn't count on was that John Altinger had sent a copy of his e-mail communication with Twitchel to a friend, prior to returning to the garage where he was subsequently murdered. This friend then provided that e-mail to police, after Altinger disappeared and said e-mail contained clear instructions on where to go, in order to find the meeting place (Twitchel's garage). Police then followed the directions and found the garage and who it belonged to. Another note of interest from Mark Twitchel's film script is that it details how he was able to lure his victim inside the garage without revealing himself as not being a woman named "Jen"; he pretended to be wary of meeting men off the Internet and used that as an excuse for why he wanted to meet at a garage and not his house. He also said that he wouldn't provide the address to the garage but just the directions to reach it and that "Jen" wouldn't be able to meet him outside of the garage because it might not be safe for "her" to do so. Instead "she" would watch him arrive from inside and if everything looked good, would send a text message telling him to come into the garage. It's for that reason that Twitchel affixed a padlock to the gate leading to the side entrance to the garage. He wanted his victims to have to bend down and enter through the main garage entrance, providing him with the opportunity to take them unawares with the stun rod. Going by the script, Twitchel told his victim that the reason that they couldn't use the gate leading to the side door of the garage was because "somebody else had placed it there and "Jen" didn't have a key.

@dannylukic6536
@dannylukic6536 9 месяцев назад
If he did go to them an hour after the attempt, police would have (at best) investigated an assault. Mark gets 1 year in jail at best. Then he gets out. More likely nothing eventuates. Then he kills eventually anyway. Unfortunately the outcome of this guy's mental illness was never going to change. Just the timetable.

JCS was perfect, Matt Orchard; a close second. I thought I'd never find another true crime channel that didnt speak monotone & slow, or with weird fluctuations, or with AI voice. I would add that part where you talk about people watching gore is because of choice and feeling of power. You missing out on obvious human fear and thing as neurosis: people get into more negative topics so they will be familiar with the ultimate danger so they won't be a victim of it. It's a feeling of being safe from learning about it. Always wanting to be alert and therefore safe.

This effect flies in the face of the idea that what people see and hear don’t influence their behavior. I’m not saying that violent video games make people kill each other, but that humans are creatures of imitation. That’s how we learn. When people see another human doing something, it makes that action seem more permissible. The way the acts are portrayed contributes to this as well. This extends to sex as well as violence, and of course to good behaviors as well.

On the tv show "Lie to Me", they'd ask them to repeat the story only this time to do it backwards. Start at the end and work your way to the beginning. They say that people practice and memorize their stories one way, they don't do it backwards and when asked to, they usually can't do it without messing up and saying something wrong, or leaving something out.

This interrogator is really good...I like him and his soft but confrontational style..I've seen so many interviews where the detectives don't outright say their suspicions and let the offendet continue to lie. I get why they do it but this is far more satisfying.

I was really surprised by that. It goes against all the interrogation techniques you see American police use. Is it a requirement for Canadian police to state why they are initiating an interrogation?

I REALLY like the message that you put into this video. For MANY years I’ve thought that the press does nothing but glorify the murderers when these very tragic cases occur. The victim barely gets a mention while the killer gets all the airtime and attention. It really makes me sick and very sad. I’ve always believed that if the press were to truly start ignoring the sick murderers that it would cause a gradual down-tick in the rate at which these cases occur. I know that may sound naïve on my part, but I really do believe it is true. We’ve all seen how the killers crave the attention of the cameras, reporters, and documentary film makers. One of the main reasons serial killers do what they do is they want and need a sense of power over others and over even themselves. They want and need control and so they forcefully take it from those that they senselessly murder. It overtakes them and they just have to do it so they can feel that power. Then they love to watch the news and read the papers to look for themselves among the headlines on the front pages and reports. It intoxicates them when they see themselves in the headlines and they crave more and more. It disturbs me to even think about it. Robbing them of this would cause a sense of reality to be applied to what they’ve done and no glory would be had. I really do believe that if would make a difference and cause less of the glory seeking to occur by way of senseless murder. I believe that after just one or two murders by someone seeking power and glory that it would stop them in their tracks and they wouldn’t be looking to taunt the police, use the press as a communication device, or do anything more to sensationalize what they have done. This would very much occur after a few cases were met with almost no interest by the press because by that point the killer would know that the press wouldn’t give them the headlines and glory that they crave. This would very much have a dampening effect on what those sick individuals do next. But, of course, the press will NEVER be interested in not giving these cases the coverage that the murderers crave. The press will NEVER do this.

I greatly miss JCS. I’ve always enjoyed True Crime but JCS was one of a kind and I found their channel very early on. I loved it so much. It’s interesting to dissect the interviews and what not while also hearing the story & getting background info. It also gives me even more empathy for the victim because these kinds of videos really show how awful these people are. Thank you very much for making these videos.
