Gorgeous Flowers , as always , Mrs H ! Thank you so much . That was a very relaxing shave Paul . I always enjoy them . Thanks for every thing . I don't know why I don't check instagram , but your pictures are fantastic ! Have a wonderful dinner , and a great week .
Those beautiful tulips made me think Spring Paul. It was warmer than usual here yesterday and in a walk around the yard, I noticed my daffodils pushing up through the mulch. Won't be long now!
Very nice shave, Paul. I've been testing out a few new creams this week, the Body Shop maca root and the Lucky Tiger cream. Both are quite good. For me, I would say that, on balance, I prefer the twist to open Gillettes to the Tech, but many people have great results with them. Cheers, and hope the Hobgoblin Ale and lashings of gravy provided the proper end to your weekend.
Used my Muhle Aloe Vera too today with the only difference that I prefer cream. New Muhle blade in Muhle R 89 Grande, Muhle Rytmo synthetic brush, laddered the cream right on my face, no preshave oil or anything. Closed the pores afterwards with Muhle alum and Muhle Aloe Vera aftershave. Fantastic experience, no burns, no irritation, went down a treat :). P.S.: No Muhle advertising meant, I just try their products now :) P.P.S.: hope everyone else had a great shave too and going to have a great Sunday :)
Very nice Paul 😌👏 I thought for one second there you were starting to over-shave your top lip, I should have more faith 🙄 I've been using a Gillette Tech with US Personnas recently for my head shaves, they're a great combination aren't they (tried Israeli Personnas too, they didn't pair up as well). Thanks again LH for the beautiful flowers 😌👍💐
Hello Paul and another excellent video. I have a ball end Tech that is my birth year and quarter razor that I like a great deal....very good razor. For me, it will be shave #6 of Fatboy February today.
I recently purchased a "No Name" vintage razor with an open comb. I am not sure if it's some version of the Gillette Tech but I received a shave that was virtually identical to yours in terms of extreme mildness but with the blade( a Sputnik)that mowed down the whiskers like a beast. In short, I understand completely where you're coming from.... ;-)
We try not mess your new video. Usually, if I cant see it in time, I add it to favorites and watch later.) Nice shaving mug, fit exactly for soap. I think top cap of the razor ia made from zink alloy, base plate from aluminium. Parsoonna Lab very good blade, good performs. Never seen this balm, glad you like it.)
Saw a Michael Freedburg vid advising against soaking brush and soap together - knot glue deteriorated and brush fell apart. maybe something to be aware of. another great start to a sunday. thanks paul
Very nice shave Paul. Was driven out of bed at 2a.m. from the old arthritis flaring up so it was great to have your video and Mrs. H's lovely flowers for company, thank you both! I've been watching "Hidden Houses" on Plex while walking on the treadmill in the mornings. Love the Welsh countryside and the history! I don't know why the BBC don't pick you up to do these though for your walks and chats are much better than the presenter they have. Mrs. W and my granddaughter planted pepper seeds in pots yesterday so another gardening season begins. Hope you have a relaxing Sunday! Take care, Ossie P.S. Noticed that tiny light floating around twice, it don't move like lint.
Ossie Weinert ah, fellow arthritis sufferer, know how you feel. Keep your chin up and don't let it get you down. Try to stay positive,it can be a trial.
Thank you Gareth. Some mornings I head outside and watch the International Space Station go over, or just look at the moon and stars. We have to take advantage of being up early. My arthritis has been much worse since being exposed to Lyme's disease three years ago so beware of those ticks!
Thanks Ossie, yes that dam arthritis, my great grandfather suffered very bad with it, his fingers were very badly shaped due to it...poor man....hidden houses as yes....hope the seeds do well Ossie, my chilli plant is still going so far....I will take a look for that light floating, thank you.....hope Sunday is going good for you, all the best.....Paul.
New subscriber here. Great shave Paul. The Tech does provide a "mild" shave (some may say too mild), but I find I have to be mindful of its extremely sharp corners and blade overhang.
I have completed my experiment with the *Arko Shave Stick* (_You had mentioned that you would be interested in the results_). It was a wonderful lathering shave stick from start to finish and lasted for *85 shaves*. _I was definitely not stingy with it_. Others may get even more shaves out of it but that is what it did for me. YMMV. *_I’ll always have an Arko SS in my shave den._*
Hi Paul, discovered your channel when your beginners guide was posted to reddit 3 days ago and I went through your old videos and watched several of them. Really enjoying the content. One question, have you made a video using Barrister and Mann soaps / aftershave? If not, do you plan to? Keep the videos coming!
I have an inexpensive Razorock razor that is somewhat like that Gillette you have. The blade overhang has been eliminated, and they call it the Razorock DE1 razor. Also, I have the synthetic version of your boar brush, with the same color two tone handle.
hey Paul love the videos! keep them coming! Quick question if you don't mind. What do you do with the soaps/creams that you have received and do not particularly like or care for? Thanks again!
hahaha i just bought the williams after shave, i mistook it for the Pre-electric shave smelled the same but loove the smell yours says Blue Ice on it mine Aqua Velva, and on the Deo spary Ice Blue
Thanks for letting me know what this razor is because I picked one up at a good price and I could not ID it. Personally I cannot go without Thayers Medicated with hazel for pain relief on sensitive skin as also I cannot go for roast pork with no apple sauce LOL!! Oh and the baby potatoes are really nice out here in Australia too (ex apt Sussex born)
Hey Paul, nice video as always! Do you own any other aloe vera soaps you can compare this one to? I personally have the Haslinger aloe vera which is kind of the referece for me, as it is a really wonderful soap and it is so inexpensive! Just a few days ago I tried the Edwin Jagger aloe soap and compared to the Haslinger which is very natural and I would guess unscented, the EJ has a really nice, classic scent. Unfortunately it let me down performance/protection wise even though I was on my razor/blade "feel good combination".
Edwin Jagger sandalwood soap was the first soap I ever used for my first DE shave. I had about 8 cuts, most of which were due to excess pressure and my technique. I've used the soap numerous times and agree that it's protection is lacking and it's not the easiest to lather. Today I had a pretty good shave with it but I think Williams Mug Soap is just as good in the protection area. I wouldn't mind a cologne with the scent of the Edwin Jagger sandalwood, though.
That is a shame the performance wasn't there in the shave, I only have this Aloe Vera shaving soap, I do have other soaps with Aloe Vera added with other ingredients shall we say, but nothing on it's own like this, hope to get more though, as I enjoy the scent....all the best...Paul.
Those are the Personna Lab Blues with a special coating for hospital use. atblades.com/products/double-edge/surgical-prep-blade-3/ Accutec purchased the Personna/Gem line from Energizer a few years ago and their descriptions are lacking. Note the line of regular double edge blade descriptions: atblades.com/product-category/double-edge/ There's a number of different catalogue #'s and two packaged ones, but with little description. Some don't even mention they're stainless steel. See page 3 of their catalogue has the med preps: atblades.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/AccuTec-catalog-Personna-Medical-Blades-2017.pdf You'll find all their other blades on page 21 here: atblades.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/AccuTec-catalog-Personna-Specialty-Blades-2016.pdf
You're quite welcome. I just answered first because Paul had a very busy night with the fans at his post shave meet and greet as you can see here: i.imgur.com/KBe0hf5.jpg
Hi Paul, do you have a link to where you got the Med prep blades from? I ordered some from ebay but didn't look nothing like yours through writing on the blade was all smudged.
The link has gone from when I bought mine, they are Personna Med Prep Blades....here is the blades, but this seller is in the states not the UK, but will give you an idea of the blade. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100-Personna-Medical-Prep-Double-Edge-Safety-Razor-Blades-Super-Sharp-/172350232507?hash=item2820dfd7bb:g:35EAAOxyaTxTVrwW
Hi Paul from South Wales. I am always wary when shaving around the nose and mouth. I thought that it's best to wet the face between passes or am I wrong.
Best way to be , wary....and very good idea to wet the face between passes yes, I don't as I don't need too. But all helps the skin and shave. Cheers Stephen.
It also helps to refresh the soap on the brush. I leave the face wet between passes without drying off. The soap dries out and thickens a bit in the bowl or on the brush, so even if you do what I do, you'll still get the pasty lather that Paul likes, but not the kind of post shave enjoyment he sees here: i.imgur.com/KBe0hf5.jpg
Paul's post shave fan get together found him on the dance floor with BBC weathergirl, Carol Kirkwood, and Paul pulled out all the moves: i.imgur.com/KBe0hf5.jpg
Don't remind me. I've had two hernia operations and that's the kind of 3 pass shave you would rather not have the surgeon's assistant performing, unlike Paul's post shave get together with BBC weathergirl Carol Kirkwood: i.imgur.com/KBe0hf5.jpg
Yes,I have the red handled one and the coloured part pops off and you can add any kind of weight to it (I fill it with water),and it makes the brush feel a little heavier.I don't use mine anymore as the handle is too small to get a comfortable grip.
thank you for the fast reply:) I really want to buy a vintage razor but I am a bit put off by some things I read about brass and aluminium being bad for your skin and the like. What I like about the gillette razors, for example, is that you don't have problems with aligning the blade and with butterfly type of razors the doors open and close in unison not like the modern butterfly razors. And those razors are old like 60 years at least.
Only a year late to comment! Saw this after taking delivery of my first vintage, a ball end tech in a bakelite travel case, complete with some rusty gillette steel blades. Looking forward to giving it a go tomorrow, but will use a new blade.
Having to shave everyday, I am beginning to really.like my Techs. Mild but efficient. Great video again Paul. My video on our recent weather ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RPHLgnURpdo.html
