A first time attempt at a video made from still pictures (some from Schantz Organ Company)with audio from yesterday's recital by Dame Gillian Weir.Hopefully I'll do better next time.
Mushel's music was banned in the Soviet Union. I was at a recital by Ian Treacy, organist of Liverpool Cathedral, who told how his predecessor had played this toccata as an encore, during a tour of the USSR, to great acclaim, at a recital attended by Party luminaries!
You're welcome...there is more,I just want to do it right so it may take a while.I agree Dame Gillian is the "cream of the crop" in the organ world. Thanks for your comments.
That was great....thank you! Any more of this fabulous Dame (Gillian)??lol In truth though she really has to be at the very top of the heap in the world of organists. Sounds like an amazing programme. Have you any other clips to post?? I do hope so.!!!!
Thank you for sharing this. Otherwise we would never get to hear this. Why was Mushel's music banned in the Soviet Union? Did they coat Riverside's interior to make it less sound absorptive? Thank you.
