Tina Louise, 89, the last surviving member of Gilligan's Island is rapidly approaching the age of 90 . Hard to believe this classic TV show is nearly almost 60 years old. I remember watching it as a kid growing up in the 1970s (numerous reruns). I am now 57 years old ❗

jaysona-Dawn Wells was forbidden to show her belly button, but on more than one occasion, if you looked closely, the top of her shorts slid down enough to show the forbidden belly button. Same with I Dream Of Jeannie.

I absolutely love these little gems you come up with that add a new & interesting dimension to our favorite & familiar shows!!! I love these types of "finds." My favorite is the flags flying at half mast (JFK Assassination) during the Gilligan's Island intro. Nice to use these nuggets of information when watching these shows with friends 😊

These are good finds! I've seen the turtle race episode far more times than I care to admit, but never noticed the ring. The scene where Skipper makes Gilligan taste all of the food they try to feed to the turtle still cracks me up every time I watch it.

There are several shows that depict inconsistencies. Some are like you said where they wear their real life wedding bands, some who were supposed to wear a band and forgot. I have also seen where the character gets married on the show and later on they have a more extravagant ring than what was shown.

timothyweers-Like in Get Smart. In season five 99 gives birth to twins, a boy and a girl, but they were only shown in one other episode than the one in which they were born (And Baby Makes Four).

@@drcmac Out of all the castaways, Natalie Schaeffer (don't know if I spelled it right), lived the longest, passing away in 1990 at the age of 90. So it's only a matter of time before we know if Louise'll surpass her as longest lived castaway.

I loved that show when I was a kid still do! When bob Denver passed his wife told Warner brothers never air that show again. Her reason because she felt he was bullied. For few years it stopped it's on Tubi right now.

Oh, I think if I can forgive the series for having Thurston Howell wearing modern glasses in the rescue movie in the 70s I can overlook the rings! Haha! Maybe it's like Fred Flintstone once said about the wives! Their rings "must have some kind of radar in them" and "no wonder they never take them off!"

My favorite show to rewatch is Bob Newhart and the single character Jerry wears his wedding ring often AND the other actors call him by his real name, Peter. I guess I don't think it's real because it doesn't bother me,lol

Someone in the comments mentioned this as well, I thought it was her *Movie Star* image too but since it was on her left hand, it definitely was her wedding ring. 💍Also sometimes it may very hard to remove a ring and maybe she called to set and she could not get it off fast enough (or maybe her finger swollen and she can not remove it).

This is the first time seeing Tina's wedding ring. It doesn't distract from the character of unmarried Ginger. I have picked up on Bob's tobacco stained fingers occasionally in some scenes. Considering Gilligan didn't smoke, he shouldn't have stained fingers!

I think they also set up the scenes of this one because she was probably showing a little bit pregnancy wise. She looks like she is behind props, and wearing the white smock is reminiscent of maternity wear of the time. This makes me wonder if leaving on the ring in this episode was actually on purpose, kind of like today where pregnant celebrities hint at a "baby bump" or are placed behind a desk or whatnot in tv shows. They usually want some kind of subtle acknowledgement to share (presumably) with the child when it's older. Kind of like a "wink" at close friends and family. It may have been similar with Gilligan, maybe it was an anniversary and he subtly wanted to signal to his wife. Just a theory.

Its pretty common to forget that someone is wearing something. There was a few times I was looking for my glasses and my mother said "They are on your face where they belong". Another time I was in the shower and I forgot to take off my glasses. :/

I didn't know Tina was not married in the show, they never said so that wasn't shocking to me, but I knew Gilligan wasn't married and that did confuse me I did see that in the episode when I was really young and it threw me off.
