I absolutely guarantee that if India had won they would have paraded the trophy around India for months its a shame our guys aren't able to come back home and have a ticket take parade
They should have picked an alternative 20/20 squad and let the boys come back home and celebrate. There is no point in forcing players like Smith and Head to play a meaningless 20/20 series after the WC.
Australia The Best Team in Cricket history 6 World Cups and counting. They won World Cups in 5 Different Continents 1. Asia (1987, 2023) 2. Europe (1999) 3. Africa (2003) 4. North America (2007) 5. Oceania (2015)
We all know who the number 1 team is in ODI cricket - India!!! So lets not be childish about it and pretend it's Australia because of one match. We all know it's not true in any way shape or form.
Also as a side note I really feel that the best way to revive ODI cricket is to go back to playing Triangular & Quadrangular tournaments, like we used to play back in the 90's.. we need more multi nation participation instead of just boring bilaterals
While I agree with that, it just seems highly unlikely for cricket to go back to that template. This World Cup proved that all it takes is for players to adapt quickly to the format and click at the right time. With more T20 games and Test Tours over the next 4 years, it's only probable that Cricket sticks to the current template unfortunately. We'll just have to make do with the bilaterals :')
absolutely agree with you on that - I am not even following the current odi series in South Africa, simply because I don't really care how they do, because the results are inconsequential and the gmes barely competitive. In a triangular format, there is always the chance of a weaker team punching above their weight and thus brining in the possibility of eliminators.
The umpires had a decent game, but to say they did Aus a big favour not giving out Marnus conveniently forgets the poor decision to give out Steve Smith to a ball that pitched outside off and hit him outside off!
@@naumankhalid3961 Smith beat India singlehandedly in several ODIs, including both high scoring and low scoring games. So if he stayed Australia had a very good chance.
Vaughny was bang on with celebration. Living in Australia for sometime now I feel cricket has lost its sheen and importance with younger population as it was earlier. This would have bedazzled the kids to take the sports.
the media pumped the Matildas to the hilt and they were widely celebrated for coming 4th. But Cricket is a white man colonists game, media dont want to promote that.
A win for Aussies for 2 generations perhaps. Congrats to them. Started feeling the missing Aussie 'never say die' spirit after sandpapergate. Finally things are changing. Well done Pat Cummins
Australia was one virat kohli catch away from winning their first World Cup game, But good that they polished up on it, and compensated by Travis head catching an absolute screamer, Completely changing the course of the game
@@Won49 no I was referring to the group stage match when India was 2 runs for 3 wickets, and kohli’s catch was dropped. Australia’s fielding then was almost as bad as Bangladesh but it improved
@my_father_sorry_i_am_lying_now it doesn’t matter aussie squad was strained from test championship final and bilateral series that ended a few days before World Cup, They still won it, in India in front of Indian fans and modi in the modi stadium
I’ve watched a few episodes of your podcast. It’s been good listening to you guys. I’ve been following Cricket since 90s and following Australia closely since 1999 WC. Saw the Aussie dominance all over my teenage and the twenties. I’m not like your average Indian spectator who will cry like anything upon losing a game in a sport. I loved how Australia outplayed the Hosts in their own conditions. The best team of the tournament had no clue what was going on. But I believe there should be playoff’s in cricket too as one bad day shouldn’t be the decider.
I am Indian and I have a problem with a cricket final not taking place in Eden gardens, I mean Eden gardens is what lords and mcg is to england and Australia. So, it is a heritage thing, plus kolkata is not dry- so celebrations is not an issue 😂
@yo-bx9kp your pitch backfired you! Winning in India is a challenging task and our boys did that! You guys didn't read the pitch well! Your greatgrandfather's were Steve Waugh, punter and there playing 11 don't forget that! We know when to perform and when not to! India played well no doubt about it! But when it comes to mental toughness and never give up attitude they are a bit behind. "Come on Aussie come on" How many hundreds did India score in finals😅! Indian legends say that they evaluated themselves in front of mighty Aussie who are you?😂
@yo-bx9kp my father your son has 6 cups compared to your 2 cups! Where did our father go wrong? I hope he rectifies where he went wrong! You are more of communal than the cricketing facts never mind your point of you! Gooday mate! 😂😂😂😂
@yo-bx9kp you have mistaken mate am an Indian staying Sydney! Even I hate our neighbouring begging bastards! I have been following Aussie right from the time punter and so do now! I think you got it!
Vaughn on his high horse about India setting wickets they want. Exactly what England did for their team of flat track bullies with no clue on defence and what Stokes actually bragged about asking for and getting for the ashes series. It’s only doctoring when India does it. Of course Vaughn isn’t racist despite what he has consistently been saying about the tournament and what he definitely “didn’t” say to the Asian guys at Yorkshire
My word that idea from Gilly getting the pod on the road in India has me buzzing already. Should be done. It can definitely be sold on Gilly's and Vaughan's face.
I've been waiting for this episode. Vaughany; buckle up! - If I had a run for every time Michael Vaughan made a spot-on prediction, I'd be out for a duck! - Cricket matches can be so unpredictable, they're almost as hard to forecast as Michael Vaughan's next tweet about the game - I'm starting to think my backyard cricket skills might just get me a spot in the commentary box next to Michael Vaughan! - If cricket matches were as quick as Michael Vaughan's witty remarks, we'd have to go back to timeless tests! - Bowling a perfect yorker is satisfying, but not quite as satisfying as watching Michael Vaughan eat his words. Go Australia!
Fantastic podcast. Rivaled even The Grade Cricketer. Also, thank you Gilly for mentioning DK's cricbuzz video. Someone had to call it out. It was beyond cringe.
Had to watch a 2nd time to comment, but c'mon boys get a production team and tour Aust for the up-comming Aust summer test series with live podcast's ? ;) But another great show, Im sure other guests will line up to be picked ;)
I read somewhere the games in India are for "catching up with the backlog of commitments over COVID". Basically, there's money involved, the various boards have agreed to play a certain number of games, and they did not play for nearly 2 years, so calendar will be overcrowded for a while till they catch up ? I think its shortsighted and will harm the game, but that's just me.
Absolutely ridiculous the boys aren’t coming home together with OUR WORLD CUP 🏆 TROPHY playing a no one cares T20 serious 🤷🏻♂️ anyway CONGRATULATIONS AUSSIES 6th World Cup done Australia PROUD 🇦🇺❤️🏆🏏🇦🇺
Definitely. Just way too good. India were delusional thinking that they were going to win. Australia were confident. India was over confident. Rohit said he may have batted if he won the toss. The part conditions played was over rated. Australia attacked India relentlessly and India folded.
Definitely take this on the road guys. Excellent cricket commentary in the great spirit of the game. A blend of expert insight from some legends, liberally sprinkled with Aussie knockabout larrikin humour. It's like a mix of Roy and HG and TMS from the olden days, with Brian Johnston, Henry Blofeld, John Arlott et al. In those halcyon days, the TMS broadcasters were booked for the whole day whether there was play or not. And given English weather, there were more than a few days when the pundits had to blather on for the full six hours of non play. The bottom of many barrels of cricket anecdotal BS had to be scraped to keep the banter going through the hours of dreary drizzle. Since cricket has a passion for obscure statistics, this body of lore was given a strenuous workout, with random cricket trivia questions. One of my favourite moments was when, BJ I think it was, struggling to keep the chat going well into the fourth hour, posed the question: 'Who was the first man to take a test wicket in his dinner shoes?' 'Oh I can answer that', chimed in Arlott. 'That would have been Keith Miller, during the Invincibles Tour of 1948.' In those days, just after the war, men were especially keen to enjoy every moment of life. Keith Miller was a party boy, a huge handsome chap, and one day of the Lords Test he came straight from the night club to the ground, without his cricket kit. He appeared in the dressing room in his dinner suit and patent leather pumps and nothing else. Captain Don Bradman was not impressed. Being such a giant it was not easy to find some cricket creams that would fit him but it was achieved. The boots however were impossible, Miller sporting a size 15. As punishment for his unprofessional behaviour Bradman made Miller, suffering an epic hangover, open the bowling and run up into the wind for an 8 over spell. And it was thus that Keith Miller was the first bowler to take a Test wicket, at Lords no less, in his black patent leather dinner shoes.
Is Australia's cricket team the most dominant international team in any sport? The only comparable one that comes to mind is probably the All Blacks in rugby.
@yo-bx9kp 😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣 Perhaps consider the words one of the greatest humans of all time, Gandhi, for guidance before you make subsequent embarrassing pronouncements: "an error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation" Last time I looked (which was Sunday 19 November in Ahmedabad😎), in tournament cricket it is the result in the last game, not the first game, that decides a tournament. India has played two finals against Australia in 2023 and been beaten comprehensively in both. Sachin Tendulkar is statistically the best one day batsmen but only has one world cup and one Champions Trophy while Ricky Ponting has three world cups and two Champions Trophies. Kohli is statistically the greatest current one day batsmen but only has one world cup while Steve Smith has two world cups and a T20 world cup. Mohammed Shami got most wickets in tournament and has won one ACC Asia Cup. While Starc has two world cups and a T20 world cup. Perhaps you need to consider the words of a truly great Indian: "Speak only if it improves the silence"
Forget the ticker tape parade, we should honor Travis Head and South Australia at large by: 1) Mandating a pink shorts day (nod to the late Premier Don Dunstan) 2) Eastern States to put back clocks by 30mins for one month in January 3) Accepting real footy is the SANFL (vale the pretenders AFL, NRL and Rugby) 4) LIV Golf at the Grange in perpetuity 5) Adopt the broad /a:/ PALM vowel country-wide 6) Adopt the word "fritz" for devon country-wide 7) NSW to (finally) cede Broken Hill and Victoria the Mallee and Wimmera to SA
Meh about England I find it funny that during their greatest white ball era Australia have matched the amount of white ball trophies won. I do feel somewhat bad for India I can't imagine the disappointment it would be like Australia dominating a home WC only to lose at the MCG.
Can’t believe Vaughney had the audacity to bring up Inglis being English, how many imports players have the English had that are not actually English? They have SA, Kiwi, & Aussies all been in their team over recent years.
The day the name Rahul will not be available in the Indian team..& Reshab will be available we will be able to beat Australia.....We have done the hardest thing on the Earth beating Australia in the test series twice in their home ground ....so anything can happen in cricket....But yes we know now y Australia is the most competitive & greatest side for the last 40 yrs ....India should learn from Australia how to play in knock out stage
Are Holland and the Netherlands the same? What is the difference between Holland and the Netherlands? The Netherlands consists of 12 provinces but many people use “Holland” when talking about the Netherlands. The two provinces of Noord- and Zuid-Holland together are Holland. The 12 provinces together are the Netherlands.
Get Ashwin Guys… You can tap his brain of cricket with so much of passion and enthusiasm… Olly and prof if you do your homework you would get him there…
They didn't post 300 on a slow pitch in Chennai against India ( first group stage match ). So if you understand Indian pitches you won't say this. That's why everyone want day games on world cup now.
Wait what, Vaughany a Sheffield Wednesday supporter ?? All this time I thought he was a top bloke, always loved his commentary … never again … at least Joe Root supports Sheffield United … probably why he’s always miserable tbf ⚔️⚔️
You should be on chepauk. Don't have to be for a match day too. Just a practice session, entry of Thala Dhoni and the crowd goes crazy.!!! We miss MSD era!
So Australia defeated a 1.4 Billion nation with multibillion Board and fans, while Australia being Actually a Football Loving nation ? , Ouch😶 , Outside SouthAsia , Cricket is considered as an 🦗
Australia in wc finals altogeather a different gravy. 1999 pak best odi side lost wc 2003 india best unbeatable lost wc 2007 srilanka best odi side lost wc 2015 NZ best odi side lost wc 2023 india best odi side lost wc Aussie too good in finals ❤
When dew is the boss ... seriously icc have to make odi t20 cricket as full day Game especially in icc events like World cup Otherwise it Become Majorly one sided
Conditions and pitch advantage Aussies.. Australia fielding was the difference.. Not sure who ordered to give a slow pitch which is backfired India with the result.. Credit to BCCI ..
What is the achivement of Vaughn even he not the best batsman why he is here bring great player of England he is twitter batsman only bring some legend batsman then talkative person being a fan bring great cricket not michel Vaughan common man what show is this or don’t make any show like this gilly you know
in my opinion, we cant claim to be the greatest cricketing nation until we match, at least, the womens achievements and that both sides hold all the crowns simultaneously
I've been saying this for some time now. Real time for Indians to get done with Cricket and let the sport die it's eventual death. All that money and all that overwhelming support just to be trophyless for a decade is simply not worth it. Plus, no one outside the subcontinent watches Cricket religiously, and a WORLD CUP should not be simply 8 teams competing 😂 I guess, maybe they can leave the IPL money making machine turned on for a while, but we seriously need to focus on other sports.
True, look at India's neighbour China where it was earlier almost at par with India and now China gives tough fight to USA and Russia in Olympics medals tally for the top three spots...Olympics an event which involves almost every nation on this planet.
And u pls dont forget same Aus defeated ur same team in WTC 2023....not winning icc trophies for the past 10 years wont define u r the best team.... Just a choker in front of Aus when it matters the most. Beating and winning the wcup in ur home infront of 100 thousand ppl supporting just the home team and going pin drop silence everywhere around the stadium😂😂😂😂, its really like a single Lion beating 10000 of hynaes at their den.
@@MikspaOrdan lol only the top teams play in the WTC final, so while we are disappointed our team didn't win, we know how good it is given that it consistently has made the test championship finals, and has won or drawn series everywhere - including South Africa (2011). And it is okay for us not to win in mickey mouse formats such as T20, it is just a revenue generator, the real class is in test matches.
We all know who the number 1 team is in ODI cricket - India!!! So lets not be childish about it and pretend it's Australia because of one match. We all know it's not true in any way shape or form.
Says "let's not be childish about it" then does some insane mental gymnastics. How about we stop playing ODI games and just give India a world cup trophy every year?
