You are the Bob Ross of hot rod shows. A pleasure to watch and a refreshing change from the frenetic shows populated with bearded and tattooed knuckle-busters. Jim Hollingsworth, Spokane Valley. '53 5 window 350/350.
Your videos are the best I've ever seen. I learn something every time I watch one. My 53 is a one ton dually stepside. You have inspired me to move the gas tank, install A/C and now I'm doing disc brakes. I saw your screaming eagle banner. Thanks for your service! Bob mason El paso, TX
Hey Steve , hope you are doing well , I've watched all of your videos , we are about the same age , I too am building a chevy truck , mine is a '52 , just to let you know because of you I went out and bought a couple of sharpies that you can click in and out , ha , they are really handy , thx again and keep up the good work
THAT STAINLESS IDEA IS BADASS!!!! THAT WILL CLEAN IT UP A BUNCH!! The only thing I'm surprised about is that you have drum breaks in the rear! But I love that truck. I can't wait till my 53 3100 is done, im gonna use the same motor you are using
I really like the format of your videos. I'm building a 53 3100 with a I6 292, 4-71 blower and 3 Rochester 2 bbl carbs. Backed with a Tremec TKO 600 and Frankland quick change rear end. Keep them coming.
I love your unique idea on the brake line, looks fantastic! years ago I built a 62 ford short box with a 425 olds engine and trans, my problem, was in fact that proportionate valve. I never did get it right, so I just went stock I will be looking forward to the upcoming videos. love the build so far! I love Idaho! stay happy stay safe.
I would definitely mount it on or near the master cylinder for easy access and to keep it out of the road grime. Love your videos. Hope to use your great fabrication ideas on my own truck.
Hi Stephen. I would love to put my 2 cents worth in, but I am not a brakeman. I think from now I am going to call you the tool man. Every time that you post a video, you have a new tool or two. Ha-Ha. Thanks for sharing.👍👍
Looking good you got some great ideas.. i am also building a 53 Chevy but min is on an S10 frame going evrything new to i went with copper lines on my truck...
I'm sure it's too late now but I think it would be cool to have it under the cab and a small Hatch door like the battery box has for easy access without going under the truck
I am just about to start a build on a 51 five window. I've been watching a bunch of your videos and I have to say you do a great job. Right now I have two questions that I haven't heard you mention. Whose front suspension kit, and rear four link kit did you go with? I'm sure I will have more questions as I get into my build. But those two items I like what I see and it would help to know what brand they are.
thanks for the comment, the front and rear suspension components I bought from a company called total cost involved, they had the best price at the time. There’s a lot of great companies out there now, fat man fabrication , speedway motors just to name a few.
Hi Steve Dwain here again lol I’m wondering what you will be using for your E brake set up ? Stock pedal or have you found a better pedal set up , I’ve been looking on the web but I haven’t come across any pedal set ups other then the stock ones
Hi Steve from a 53 owner down under in New Zealand. .you do great work and it has inspired me to do some changes to mine. I was looking at a 4 link where did you get yours or did you make it? Did you do a video of the installation? Cheers Dave
Hi Dave I got my four link from a company in California called total cost involved but you know it wouldn’t be that difficult to build it yourself there is a company in Canada called the Paul Horton builder series and he sells all kinds of kits that you weld up yourself to do your own four link.
Hey Steve. What size tubing are you using. It looks like 1/4”, am I right? I’ve watched all your videos and have implemented many of your ideas. I’m 73 years old and building a ‘52 Chevy 3100. Keep those videos coming. Thanks
Well Steve. I took a guess, that it was 1/4” and we ordered the 1/4”. I sure hope that won’t be a problem. I’m sure I could use either one, what do you think?
What I can remember Mark is quarter inch brake lines were used 30 years ago because of drum brakes and the fact that they needed more volume of brake fluid for the modern systems with front and rear disc work better with 3/16 but the whole physics behind hydraulics would tell me that it shouldn’t matter I know that doesn’t answer your question if you’re going to run drum brakes in the back you could use a quarter inch line there and then the 3/16 for the front disc brakes
