I am also 49. Had you people been older when the show aired, it is likely you wouldn’t feel the same way about it. You are looking at it through the eyes of a child. It is nostalgia that brings you here, not the show. Most people who watch these old shows on RU-vid are hopeless losers who have not accomplished anything of note, so they revert to their childhood in an attempt to escape the reality of their miserable lives. My dad used to curse and tell my brother and me to get that bearded bastard (Michael Keaton) from Family Ties off the TV so he could watch the news. It takes a stunted, childish mind to watch this stuff. I feel sorry for myself for wasting my time here and I feel sorry for you folks as well. We were losers in the ‘80s and didn’t know it. Time has revealed that reality.
Nell Carter was and remains the heart and soul of this show. Her presence is felt in this episode and the entire series. I miss her. To me she was never a black stereotype. She still represents!
@@erikbunty2016 yeah it was like a totally different show by the end when they moved to NYC and the Lawrence brothers were basically Nell’s adopted sons and the girls were gone. But at least Nell and Addie (Telma Hopkins) were like the Lucy and Ethel of the 80s 🤣
The Official Iceman I learn about Nell from another youtube video i now feel bad I didn't know her until seeing her resting place and it's sad that Dolph Sweet has no resting place but I like to think that when someone's ashes are scattered it is like they are with us
I just loved Carl he was tough and strict on the girls but deep down you can see that he truly loved them with all his heart he was one of the best characters just like James evans on good times
Oh, how I miss the my 80s childhood! Katie was thumping through with one of my favorite 80s treasures: 16 MAGAZINE!!!! I still treasure this show and its cast to this very day. #80sfan4life.
I really liked Sam in Season 1, her being the tomboyish younger daughter with a pure, sweet, naive, innocent side. And glad TV back then wasn't garbage like it is now. Lara Jill Miller has been voicing kid's shows since she was Kari Kamiya in Digimon back in '99. Even with her as an adult at 53, I still see that sweet, innocent, pure, naive, former child actress that was Sam Kanisky in Gimme a Break. She said the late great Nell Carter was like a second mom to her.
"The Allentown Lawyer" Lara Jill Miller is one of the great actress in many television shows from late 1970's to 1990's when she plays the voice of Lisa Loud in Nickelodeon's hit cartoon The Loud House since after WWE Payback on May 1, 2016 (four weeks prior to NET. 3.0 coverage from Sentul International Convention Center in Downtown Sentul section of Bogor, West Java, Indonesia featuring special performance by Omi, Jessie J and Dawin)
That was so funny when Carl came into the kitchen and he saw Julie and George kissing and he screamed. That was like Fred Sanford faking a heart attack when he saw something that drove him nuts.
@@joespitler3929 Copy that; 'Hilll Street Blues' was never the same after Michael Conrad passed away. Both shows are marking their 40th anniversaries in 2021.
@@albertadams2095 haha love that episode and when the part when Kim touched that dudes leg. I think it was off script by countess and she was secretly pregnant there. Pregnancy hormones. Lol
The show was no good after Carl died, and was even worse in the final season where Kari Michaelson -Katie, and Laurue Hendler-Julie, were written out and Lara Jill Miller-Sam, made only occasional appearance. My understanding is that the two actresses playing Samantha's older sisters really wanted to stay on the show, but NBC decided give the series an overhall and retooling, which is what I think killed the show. The first 4 seasons are the best imo.
L.O.V.E.D This SHOW GROWING....R.I.P MISS Nell Carter....an the entire cast. God bless you all......you where my make make believe family......🌺🌹🌷🌸.....
@@sd31263 He sure was. That's the problem nowadays with these wayward youth. They never got hands put on them when they were out of line. Now you see them attacking the elderly and disabled for sport. They need that extra tough love.
@@wilykat'attacking the elderly...' gee i wonder where they learned it from? blows my mind u dont see the irony. nice to know you're an domestic abuser
Mike Darnell, who played Julie's friend, had appeared in the Saturday morning series BIG JOHN LITTLE JOHN as Ricky Martin (really), and he became an executive at the Fox tv network in adulthood.
Before the anime Digimon: Digital Monsters, Voice actress Lara Jill Miller played Samantha ''Sam'' Kanisky, the youngest daughter who is bit of a tomboy before Season 5.
I had forgotten all about this show, and yet I can remember the song 🤣. Funny I can remember a song from my childhood, but I can't remember where I put my glasses most of the time only to find them on my own head 👓👀😱🤣
A fellow's invented see-through film; he calls it "cellophane." Another has built a parachute for jumping out of an airplane. Remarkable things flow endlessly from out the human brain. Indeed, what a remarkable age this is!
@@joespitler3929 it doesn't do to call someone a bitch. She was still upset that her mom died. It happens. The most important thing was that they made up
One, what kid is brave enough to say didn't you ever suck face to their parents? Two, I would be extremely embarrassed to even say that. I so with Carl on that one 9:50
Who in their right mind would say "suck face " to their parents!??? That was out of line. I was a little taken aback because Julie seemed like she had no interest in that little runt... Oh well!! Lol
+Tami Hayes It's a joke. You're supposed to think they aren't interested in each other. It might've been that since they were studying the sex stuff they decided to try it out themselves.
