There's no doubt that Photoshop is a more complex program in comparison with GIMP. However, GIMP is the best choice for any artist and designer who is willing to make quality content without spending any money. I'm very amazed how GIMP still remains a serious competitor to Photoshop despite being relied on donations and moral support from its fans. Anyways, great video!
ok , so i dont have paint 3D which is what i would normally use so im currently looking for photo editors or as i searched youtube for youtube thumbnail makers. after searching around youtube and reading your comment fellow comrade Rick i decided you made my decision for me i want good quality Photos for when im moody and wanna create videos or for when im moody to burn disk. im going to take the time to learn Gimp. Comrade Rick i must full heartedly thank you for conforming my decision. Because of you i know what i must do now.
Something all the comarison videos I’ve seen tend to miss is that Photoshop updates frequently malfunction or ruin features and the only way to fix it is to delete and hope you can use an older version. And that Photoshop regularly has trouble when you use a graphics tablet and users spend hours trying to find out why everything is suddenly not working.
from my pov gimp has a lot potential to reach krita level digital illustration and photoshop level editing but it just doesn't get enough attention and money donations compared to kirta and I know gimp problems but still its a decent software if used correctly it just doesn't get what it deserves and I feel the devs lacks direction on what needed and wanted
Haha Photoshop is so powerful & common among artists & ordinary people nowadays. What do you expect from a software that became a verb in the dictionary 😄
@@_bbie if I'm looking to make a side hustle out of my art then gimp is my best friend whereas of I'm looking to invest in a career for my art then photoshop is my love..
@@nxp2619 LOL. even many professional jump ship into using GIMP recently and create astonishing design using GIMP and Inkscape. adobe is now struggling to find their new customer and the lesser their user are, the more expensive their product becomes as they will squeeze every penny their user can pay until they turn dries. If not because of official school program or courses that favor Adobe products and "Industry Standard" thingy, they will never stand a chance against open source software. The downside is, if open source become like Adobe kind of situation, they can tend to become pay software in the future due to popularity (Im not making an evil assumption here, just stating concerns). And let's hope that never happen in the mean time. That's why I voluntarily donates to keep them alive.
GIMP is more user friendly? No, Photoshop has very familiar interface. Except if your presume that you bring two kids who has never seen any of them. Then yea maybe GIMP become easier.
Indeed. Their UI is one clusterfck to navigate in the first place. Inkscape is a lot better UI experience and a lot easy to handle. During my first half year using it, im still having confusion using it. But when i get to use of it, it just turn easy and smooth. Yes i do make some mistake navigating around it despite how long i have use it, but boy, opening gimp feels like using windows 95. So old and soulless. Plus they still implementing destructive editing like adjusting colours, and it will permanently stays in the value which is so damn frustrating when you just find one simple mistake. I hope when GIMP 3 arrive, they will no longer applies to destructive editing. It just don't make sense nowadays.
GIMP being faster is an outright lie and shows that the video creator has no clue what they are talking about. Photoshop uses a LOT less processing power than GIMP thanks to the fact that it is capable of using both the processor and the VRAM of the computer, making photoshop MUCH faster than GIMP. GIMP uses only processor which means that you need to have a powerful computer if you want to avoid lag.
