You could put a pipe inside with holes to make an extension. That would be really cool for jobs that need a higher lift. Appreciate the videos 👍

Nice Job Derb! Night and day difference. Don't lose anymore weight or you might blow away in the wind!

You did a fantastic job with this one only thing I would add is since your boom is pipe find another pipe slightly smaller so you can telescope it and pick up things higher

Derbador good to see a young man trying his best. There are so many worthless panty wastes out there it’s enough to make you puke. So how much weight are you going to rate your pipe boom for? I probably shouldn’t even start this conversation but here it goes. I grew up in a boilermaker family. EVERYBODY in the family was/is proficient in metal fabrication, general engineering, and welding. Also very proficient with Oxy acetylene rigs. We were all too old or passed away to have had plasma cutters at our disposal until the last 15 years or so. Back to the point, I feel concerned for your safety if you plan on loading your pipe boom any more than with 700-800 lbs and that is with no more than 20-25* angle on you boom. assuming you used schedule 40 pipe at the least. I get the cost savings of the pipe over I beam or square tubing but what you lose in carrying capacity and side to side stability far out ways the $ savings in my humble opinion. I wish you would have used a nice piece of 6” x 6” x 3/8” I beam instead. That I beam would have been able to pick four times the weight easily and that's without a strong back on it. Your slit cut for the mounting end of the pipe also is Perty shallow too. Perhaps when you cut your steel component fitment joints you could make your (fitment) joint tolerances tighter. One it would save you the considerable expense of time, cover gas and welding wire not to mention so much heat concentration in critical structural areas when welding out your components. Just a couple of suggestions. When the gods at Lincoln, Miller, etc made wire feed machines they instantly made almost every JOE a... WELDER/FABRICATOR DELUX! Stick with a stick welder or tig rig. When you become proficient with electrode welding and can run verts and overhead welds without any dropouts, suck back, or porosity pockets you can sell your wire feed to the next apenis (apprentice) . I did not mean to pick apart your project or design I just felt concerned for your safety and that of others. Also your reputation. It's nice to see someone who is not afraid to get there hands dirty or try something most people wouldn't dream of doing. Best of luck to you, R. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸🇺🇲 👀 Hey derb if you have time look at my Gin Pole truck Video. It lays itself back on the headache rack no chains needed 10,000 lbs ramsey worm gear wench I can lift 1,500 lbs like it without 2 parting with a snach block. I've snaped the cable when I picked up a 3,500 lbs junk car. I know you'll like it. Mine is a 79 f-350 with a 460!
