I’ve got their Silent Service and I absolutely love it. I get that Sub feel (case, on the fly adjustment, date cyclops window, creamy smooth bezel action, great lume, chronometer accuracy, and low key bling) which is what I’ve always wanted. It’s a fine watch and I got it because it’s an homage.
Owner of a Ginault Ocean Rover. It’s amazing. Keeps perfect time; Rolex quality and looks with customized features that make it look better in my opinion. I’ve got the blue and gold bezel with sand lume plots. Red seconds hand. Looks incredible
I sat near to an older gentleman in a pub recently. He had a real sub on and I had the OR, he didn't know it wasn't a Rolex. He kept going on about how much better the subs were compared to the Datejusts. I just agreed with him!
I just bought mine from Chrono24 I am wearing it now . I have two Tudors and a Rolex OP. This Ginault ocean rover II is a functional tool watch. this is a keeper.
I'd wear it, no problem, it's a nice watch. The man makes the watch, not the other way around. A nice watch purchase is supposed to be fun, and there is nothing fun about having to jump thru hoops to buy a watch.
If that watch would be released by rolex for an anniversary edition, I believe that the waiting list would be quite interesting, as well as the Grey market. Let's be honest, it looks better than the last few generations of subs.
I returned three tudors and kept this watch the first Tudor was a 41 bb heritage that shit weight was a pound on my wrist then the bb 58 39 strap was flimsy and then the bb58 bracelet never fit right I mean bb was a waste of time and money what sense did it made. I love my ginault It is a good watch and no one cares what watch your wearing I mean a man in America could put on a pink dress and no one seems to care. Therefore no one care about your watch
I have the exact same model. Kept it and got rid of my BB58, so brand name isn't the be all and end all for me. This is the Sub Rolex should have made. Best of the 5 digit + best of the 6.. The quality is undoubtedly up there, and to all the snowflakes crying about the brands history, get a life! Haha
Been wearing the Ocean River 1 everyday, religiously, since 2019, very accurate, very nice and very well done! Sent it in for service and I’m sure it will be just as nice as day 1. I can say it was worth every penny and I wish I could afford the O.C.2 but that’s the way it goes.
If you want to support Ginault, if that's where you sent to service, that's fun but in case you didn't know, the movement can be serviced by anyone. FYI.
I don't have any issue with this watch. It's a greatest hits of the last 30 years of Rolex. That's a 5 digit case with the angled brushing on the tapered lugs and slim crownguards, but it has the insert from the sd43 and glidelock from a 6 digit. Every other homage I've seen looks like a shitter version of a Rolex with weird proportions. This is objectively a great looking watch.
Absolutely agree - 99% of homages get something wrong on their versions . The only thing this doesn’t do right is homage one particular model. Instead it homages the best of Rolex . 🎉
Something about this wants me to hate it, but I can't help thinking it actually looks really good. For a non-watch collector who needs a good tool watch and isn't bothered by brand recognition, this is probably a really good purchase. Even as a submariner owner, I'm actually quite impressed with this!
Ginault in my opinion is actually a much better watch than the Submariner for many of the reasons you mentioned but I always say this is the Rolex that Rolex should make but will never make and it has all the best features ceramic bezel glidelock slim leather case milsub hands bgw9 large indices and beyond all that its hand built just for you when you order it that's something you'll never get from Rolex and on top of all that the customer service is the best not just in the watch world but just in general combine all of that with these are just being assembled by two individuals by hand and the fact for me is it having all the features that I really want that I can't get in an actual Rolex is the reason why I have 3 ocean Rover 2 and asked to have the Submariner removed from my Rolex a.d-list
Barnet is looking good. Seriously thinking about doing myself (my hair is likes yours Pre procedure) How much and would you recommend the company that did yours?
To me, this is a "best of" of all previous Divers from the company with the five-pointed crown. case: Sub Ref. 16610, bezel: Sea-Dweller Ref. 116600, bracelet and dial: 116600/116610/126610, minute and hour hands: MilSub, seconds hand: own design. This is obviously the design the original should have today - but regrettably has not...
@SLVRFOX88 Yes, mine came 2 days ago . It's a well made watch the bezel and glide lock work flawlessly. The bracelet is very nice. It's a steal at the phase 1 price .
its a problem is you let it be a problem... who cares if you are wearinga a watch that looks like a sub and its not? wear it with pride and dont worry about that
I think we need to be honest. It's a copy not a homage. A homage would be something like a christopher ward Sealand gmt being a homage to a rolex explorer 2. This, at least in my worthless opinion, is a direct rip off. But if you're going to copy a watch it might as well be the Submariner! 😁
Yeah I’m not a buyer. Not for me anyhows. But looks good for anyone that likes it I say go for it. I’m just at a stage where I don’t need another f’n watch…😮
Ahh conflicting . I owned one in 2019 .. yes quality is there but for me the homage thing was just too much . If it’s your thing it’s your thing and you will be getting a decent watch . Think it’s 1300 hundred add 30 percent in taxes and import charges to the uk you will be talking 1700 .. personally I would rather spring for an oris or a rado captain cook , cracking watches with no homage controversy..
I have OR2 and SS by Ginault, absolutely fantastic value and quality for the money. I also have 4 steel sports Rolex watches, which just hit a different nerve. Both brands great in their own way, but does beg the question what do you get physically for the extra £6k for a Sub vs the OR2.....answer is an in house movement and a $billion marketing budget 🤔 😆
@@watchandrew agreed. It’s the movement that makes the difference. With all honestly, the power reserve is much superior on the Rolex and the accuracy is just better. But all and all, I love the Ginault. It’s just so refined.
It doesn’t say Rolex, so yeah I could wear it but like you I’d have reservations, at least omegas are distinctive and they look like omegas. But very nice 👌 anyway
Not the biggest fan of homage watches. But I have to be honest and admit a few years ago I nearly got one of these . But I just couldn't get by the whole Sub rip off thing.
People wear Tudors - if they’ve no issues with those homages then what’s the problem with this one? Personally I find the sub somewhat dull and ubiquitous- so this and the real deal itself are not my wheel-house.
Tudor is a sister company of Rolex…& in any case, no Tudor model looks like any of the current Rolex lineup; they take vintage cues from older Rolex if anything. Tudor v Rolex is not the same comparison as this piece of junk pretending to be a modern Submariner 😂
… not really an argument …if it’s the same stable then it’s not a homage . What Tudor sports are the is the dna of the Rolex group but also quite different which is fine ..
@@thegorn Do some Googling, my friend. My point had nothing to do with making a "better design". It has to do with some very troubling allegations: pretending the watch was "Made in USA"; hiding the real owners of the company; possibly having been manufactured by a company that makes fake Rolexes -- not homages, actual fakes, also known as counterfeits. Ginault may be a good quality watch, but I'd recommend reading what's been uncovered before making up your mind.
I’m actually quite surprised this company still exists, thought they were issued a cease & desist notice from Rolex many moons ago. However they were all (reviewers) in raptures about them about how good they were. Never been a big fan of the sub really, so not really one for me.
Your opening monologue “it’s a carbon copy”.. displays your ignorance. Name the Rolex reference it’s a “carbon copy” of. You can’t. Because it doesn’t exist. It takes the best parts of the Rolex 5513, the 14060M and 114060, and melds them into one. It’s what’s called a “fantasy homage” being the watch that people wished Rolex would make, but they won’t. Plus it adds its own Ginault flair with a dark blue bezel (a better shade that the white-gold sub blue bezel), and the red seconds hand.
Oh come on! You too? No matter how much quality it has, it will always be a wannabe. A watch that wants to be another one has no interest for me. Give me an SKX or a Hamilton Khaki, and I'll be 1000 times happier wearing it on my wrist than that copy, which is also expensive.
Then you don’t understand the concept of a pure homage, which strives to make a better submariner than any submariner ever made, by taking the very best of the 5513, 14060, and 114060 and putting it all together into a brilliant piece that Rolex will never make, but should. People who sprout “copy” or “clone” are lacking in understanding, proudly displaying their extreme ignorance.
Supply and demand more than anything. Simple economics. Manufacturing costs are but a fraction of what the watch costs. You’re mostly paying for name, marketing, a bit of R&D, and fat AD margins.
@@thegorn AD margins are not higher than any other lower end "luxury" watch, which is what a Rolex is. The biggest difference is $$$ spent on advertising.
Are you aware of the amazing and deceptive and disgusting and absolutely filthy criminal history of the owner of this brand? I've done my own research. It's hard, all the info is online. But it's so likely that this owner is an absolute crook. It's disgusting to be proud to wear one of these.
He who is without sin cast the first stone. I doubt you are without sin so save the speech. Does the man make a good watch or does he not? Apparently he does.
