At least Ginny had a reason to be MIA this episode. Her father she never sees for months is back and she wants to spend time with him, she just found out her mom was lying to her about everything. The series never address the fact that Abby put duct tape around her thighs for her jeans to look good , when I saw that I thought wow I wonder how how the show is going with this but the issue was never addressed, I think out of MANG , Abby get the least storyline and character development and I wish they focus more on Abby in season 2

I totally agree with you, but it's pretty clear in the show that Abby's got anorexia and bulimia, it might have been easy to miss, but the scene where the dooshbag says abby has whale legs, she goes to the bathroom to purge, and when ginny wants to go into the bathroom, Abby's washing out her mouth. I really hope abby gets focused on more next season, hopefully it'll be good

However other friend groups need to talk their problems out with each other instead of laughing and then putting their problems to the side and then thinking everything is fine when it’s not. She has major warning signs for someone who is going to self harm or kts. Her friends didn't care about her and dumped her, she has body dysmorphia and an ed and on top of that her parents are getting a divorce. Her whole life is crumbling and no one is going to notice it until its to late.

In one of the final scenes when Ginny is looking for a place to sit in her school cafeteria you can see Abby sitting not even touching her food and then eventually just throwing it all away. I get that she was upset and that would explain why she wasn’t eating, but that scene mixed with the whole tape around her thighs thing makes me think she’s going to have an ed storyline next season

Tbh I kinda hated Abby at the start for the shoplifting incident, but apart from that I found her to be an interesting character with a lot of backstory. Instead of acting like you know everything, take time to listen and understand) "I'm sorry, but I've had a lot of family stuff to deal with too" (This makes them feel like a burden and a selfish person for bringing up what they've been struggling with. It makes them not want to talk about it, build a wall, and keep their feelings inside next time for fear of making everything about them) "It's not just always about you" (The person brought this up because they need help and this immediately shuts them down for trying to do so. Once again, makes them feel selfish, weak, and terrible) "I had sex" (Though funny comments may help in some situations, its best to steer clear of topics when the conversation has a serious tone. This make it seem like you don't care about their situation, you weren't listening, or you think your small situation is more important than their struggles) "You can be a real b****" (Acknowledge that a trauma like a divorce can cause a lot of sadness and anger in a person. Be understanding and kind. Don't make them feel like they're the problem. You can call them out nicely if they're being rude, but try not to purposefully provoke them.) I feel like the girls handled this situation poorly and the ending was not realistic. Abby didn't even get the help or acknowledgement she needed.

as much as i agree with the comments mentioning how "ginny makes everything about herself", let's not forget when nora, abby, and ginny shoplifted and when one of the cashier's specifically called out ginny for shoplifting, nora and abby just stood by and watched. they never defended her or reassured the cashier that they were also involved. in all honesty, out of everyone in MANG, max was the only one with the best and relatable personality and didn't deserve any of them. nora is fake, abby is rude, and ginny is a spoiled brat who is ungrateful of everything her mother did for her. :) bye now i'm done ranting mwuah

Look at the scene where her dad went to the school, Abby was about to vent to her and she cut her off. This was put in there intentionally by the writers to make her seem ignorant. Abby was CONSTANTLY pushed aside and the one time she stood up for herself Ginny jumped back in with her selfishness - “We all have our own stuff to go through” which while true, was only said to dismiss Abby’s struggles and concerns. Ginny went on to say “I’ve had issues, it’s not always about you” which is hypocritical because it’s NEVER about Abby and it’s ALWAYS about Ginny. She was the most insensitive and annoying person there, and I think that sentence drove Abby over the edge to slap her. Max was obviously wrong as well, but maybe in the heat of the moment it was easier to focus on one hurt at a time.

I just finished and I have to say, Ginny became extremely unlikable. I don't really understand her character or who we are supposed to think she is. In episode one she's portrayed as this shy, quiet, girl who is studious and then by the end of the episode she's sleeping with the neighbor who she has known for like five seconds. It doesn't make sense. She was ungrateful and complained about her mom keeping secrets but then the second she finds something out, like the gun, she goes and blabs to her friends. I wouldn't tell her anything either if I was Georgia. Georgia is definitely a little psycho but I felt like a lot of Ginny's anger was misplaced. Even the essay situation; while her poem was great, I don't feel she had a reason to be upset she didn't win. She was rude to classmates and chose to stay friends with people who already showed signs that they weren't good friends from the beginning and then she blew off people like Bracia who were trying to be nice to her. Then she only wanted to be friends with Bracia after her other friends dumped her. I just found her extremely unlikable but perhaps that's what the writers are trying to do to show a character going through her teenage years.
I think the main reason why she got with Hunter because she wanted to feel accepted. Everything she did throughout the show was in order to be accepted in a friend group that was obviously toxic. She had never had friends before so she was willing to do whatever it took including accepting Hunter as her boyfriend, sleeping with Marcus, straightening her hair, shoplifting, excetera excetera. Even though she isn't that likable, it's a pretty well-written character, because it represents those kinds of people who feel like they would do anything just to be accepted, including changing who they are as a person.

Abby was clearly very vulnerable in this scene and acted on her emotions instead of logic, which is understandable when someone is going through a time of crisis. It was pretty obvious something was going on her with and none of her friends gave her the time of the day, especially Ginny when she knew exactly what was going on. And then when she's literally crying and talking about her parents divorce Ginny literally made the situation about her (and what makes it worse is the fact that Ginny is the pretty much the reason for her own family issues). And I'm not saying Abby is a saint because someone needs to put her in her place too, but Ginny deserved that slap one hundred percent

i applaud Abby for speaking the whole truth. she seems like a loyal, honest and compassionate friend. the girls here needed to hear this because they have no boundaries in their own life to the point that their insecurities made them into hurting themselves and others. they have no love for themselves, which caused them to struggle to be themselves. that’s why they not only hurt themselves, but also hurt other people too; especially to the other ones who are a genuine friend. Abby seems like one of those good friends because she has gone through a lot of pain to the point that she understands what it’s like to feel so much pain. she’s very empathetic and the girls need to see that.

Abby is too nice lol. She was so shocked when she slapped ginny and immediately slapped herself bc she was sorry. If i slapped ginny like that i wouldnt regret it one bit.
What I don’t understand is why Abby didn’t cuss max out. She had s3x while her friend was suffering, yet she went after ginny. Either Abby is kicking the dog- instead of going after max and norah, she’s taking her frustration out on ginny because it’s easier for her to do so, or she’s racist, or both. Anyone who defends ginny getting slapped is either blinded by their hatred or ginny and / has racial biases against ginny since she’s half blakc. Any logical person could see that ginny is far from perfect, Abby should have held Norah and max to higher regards since they were her friends longer. @@byehi5612 girl stfu abby wasn't racist she was jealous for the first few eps. She clearly considered Ginny a friend otherwise she wouldn't of called her too. She was probs too angry to listen to Max after Ginny said that. The way u hate her sm that u reply to every comment is a red flag
