I never understood children who still wanted to have a connection with the parent that wasnt there and sometimes even discarted the parent who was indeed there. It's sort of religious in that sense. Not that it has anything to do with God or anything, but more so knowing the truth about yourself, having an origin of some kind and where you came from. For me personally, growing up all I wanted was my dad. I had him in my life until my parents separated and I always felt his absence. Of course I chose my mother after I saw why she wanted away from him, took me a long time but I got it. But I do still find myself missing my dad from time to time.

This hurt…I recently cut contact with my dad in may of 2022 and he would always manipulate me saying how evil my mom was and that it was all her fault. They were divorced since I was three. I finally cut contact with him because he went to far. He said that he would never lie to me and that anything my mother or stepfather said was all lies. I knew that was a lie immediately because my stepdad and my mom are the most important people to me and whenever they talked they would look me in the eyes. He only talked when we were driving or he was doing something else. I asked him what happened the night my mom left him and took me and my sisters with her. He lied, he twisted it to make him seem innocent and that my mom had left me alone. That didn’t happen… mom was in the kitchen. He hit her. Over and over. I was sitting on the couch to the left of the tv under the window to the kitchen/ dining room watching mulan eating a blue popsicle. I know this cause I saw it…for ten years I tried to push it back but then for once and after thirteen years of manipulation…I cut it off. I honestly can relate to these two because of this my mom went through having to deal with her child being taught she was evil.
Oh, my heart breaks for you! I'm a mom, and I married a guy I thought was the love of my life after 8 years of dating (5 of them while I was in university) he seemed perfect! But almost immediately after getting married, I saw a change, and a year later, when I graduated, I started seeing that he was not ok. He started showing signs of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (I had just graduated as a behavioral health specialist and working in the field). I tried to rationalize it, wanting to believe it was from a head injury he suffered in a car accident 6 months before we met, and I went into cognitive dissonance. We had our only child, a son 5 years later, and things got progressively more dysfunctional, but because I wasn't facing it head on, his control over me and our finances intensified to where even my friends and their husbands noticed. Anyway, by the time my son was 5, he said, "mommy, I think we should go shopping for a new husband for you." I was shocked and heartbroken. I responded, "honey, my husband is your papi, that means we would not be living together." Then he said, "mommy, if it's good for you, it will be good for me." This blew my mind, he was FIVE! So I realized how much he had been observing, and I had his openness to it. I asked my husband for a divorce and he threatened to take my son away from me and poison him against me. He had the means, and his racist parents (who hated me from the start) were ready to ruin my life. I couldn't risk losing my child so I stayed and tried to make it work. Over time, my husband turned my son against me by talking down to me, gaslighting me, hiding his alcohol and drinking gallons a week, being disrespectful, and he spent most of his non-work time watching Nascar or stupid TV shows in the den and never wanted to go out on road trips, or fun activities with our son. I was the one who taught my boy to cook, bake cookies, mountain biking, white water rafting, was his cub scout and sports mom. But by covid shut down (2020), things had become so toxic that I knew I had lost my boy's respect and affection. He was taking his father's side on everything, but he didn't know his father had become physically abusive. That's where I drew the line and filed for divorce. My son became angrier with me and he joined the Marines. He wants very little to do with me, and he is all I have ever lived for. I'm so glad foe you and your mom, that you have come out of your cognitive dissonance and I pray my son will too. I highly recommend that you, your siblings. And your mom go to therapy. It's what I hope my son will also do after he gets done with the military. Sadly, by then, he'll need it for so much more because he chose that path out of desperation. Thank you for sharing your experience and I hope I didn't bore you with mine, but I wanted to share what mothers (and also some fathers) go through unjustly in a toxic relationship where the kids are the ones to get hurt. This is why moms and dads are important in the family. Moms play a role that dads can't and vice versa. That's why they complete a family. I believe that many parents have different styles of parenting, and that's completely normal. The parents play an important role in a child's life. Even if there's only one raising a child. Like myself, I come from a broken family. I grew up mostly having a mom. I only saw my dad once and never again. So, maybe we should understand the pain they go through, it won't hurt to just acknowledge the hard work of our mothers and even our fathers. As humans, we have our own capacity, of course. Moms and dads get tired too. I'm not saying that we should be sorry for whatever we did to repay our parents' sacrifices. All im saying is, maybe we should try and understand their pain. Acknowledge the hard work they do. The least we could do to comfort them is try to be there for them. For sure, it is different in every household and history of the child. Whether you come from an abusive home or you've been left out in your own family, of course it would be hard to be there for your family or to forgive them. But maybe as children, we should strive to become better for our future selves ☺️ just an encouragement!

I think the writers did such a good job at making Ginny an unlikable character that when she does something normal or even good, people think it's the most unreasonable thing in the world. I don't like Ginny's character at all, but I think that the decision to try living with her dad was a very healthy and mature one. She's struggling and wants to see if it change in environment will help that and that's not unreasonable. We all know Georgia loves her daughter literally to death. No arguments there. She is the definition of a ride or die that would kill for you live for you, go to jail for you and everything in between. But she has proven herself to not be the most stable environment. And while I don't think that makes her a bad mother, I do think that this attempt to guilt trip because she felt hurt was not her best moment.
Georgia’s unawar at this point of the season that Ginny knows about the murder. The whole point was to get away from her mom because she needed time to think since she was talking with a detective. Imo, that’s by far Ginny’s biggest mistake. Georgia did that protect her, whether or not Ginny understood the reason. Not discrediting Ginny for her feelings because it’s valid, but she also needs to understand her mother too.

I honestly don't like how Georgia gets so much praise. The girl is literally experiencing anxiety and is so afraid to tell her mom what she's going through. Ginny is a victim of narcissistic abuse and child neglect. A lot of you feel that she is ungrateful because she wants to leave a toxic environment but that’s what she needs at the moment. I hate that people are hating on Ginny. She wanted to go live with her dad. She had just found out her mom killed someone and she was hurting herself. She didn't want Georgia to know. Also Georgia doesn't believe in therapy. Zion encouraged her to go and it helped her. I know that Georgia went through alot when raising Ginny, but it doesn't mean that she isn't allowed to be mad at her or to act like any teenager (ungrateful) I just don't understand why Ginny gets so much hate.
I felt bad at Georgia. Yeah she killed people. But she does it for the family. And Ginny can hate her. But doesn't mean she had the right to disrespect Georgia. She has to be thankful for what Georgia does for her. Hating someone doesn't mean you don't have to thank that person.
I saw my dad one weekend a month, 1-2 weeks on summer, a week on Christmas, talk to him on the phone once a week - it was my mom that sacrificed everything, she was a single mother of 2 since I was three. Once my addy asked if I had to choice to spend more time with him if I would like it. My answer is still the same: “Dad, I love you, don’t get me wrong but if I have to choose between you and mom… mom is going to win without a second thought”. My mom is my entire world.
Ginny’s forced mommy issues to be edgy when she’s an ungreatful kid who doesn’t realize she had a great mom that didn’t abandon her, abuse her, starve her, or discourage her from her hobbies and dreams and friends. It makes me so upset. She’s so lucky to have a mom like that and she’s too spoiled and blind to see it.
Ginny knows nothing about her mom. Imagine finding out your mother's a criminal and all you get told is she did it for you. I personally would blame myself like Ginny does. Her poem was realistic. You just look at it as a viewer who knows Georgia's past.

Georgia never tried to understand Ginny‘s problems. She always made everything about her - how she sacrificed everything for Ginny, how much she went through for Ginny, basically blaming Ginny for the way everything had turned out. Ginny literally blames herself for Kenny‘s death because Georgia said she did it to protect her. Georgia is totally narcissistic and some of y‘all don’t even see that. Putting the blame on Ginny when Georgia is the one responsible for the whole shit they went though shows how easy manipulated you are. And let’s not forget that Georgia is also responsible that Zion doesn’t see her often as she always ends sleeping with him and then doesn’t even try to talk with him about this. Zion then leaves both as he thinks it’s the best for them. Remember when she kidnapped Ginny from Zion and thought his family would take her away from her even though they literally told her she can stay in her life? Georgia has been anything but a good mum to her and Ginny had been anything but a good daughter to her. They never had a mother-daughter relationship. Georgia never acknowledged Ginny‘s problems. She didn’t care she was hurt because of Georgia‘s actions. Even during therapy she made everything about herself and wanted to know how Ginny and her therapist have been talking about Georgia - she wanted the full control over her daughter‘s safe place, a safe place where she could talk to another black woman about her struggles as a biracial child growing up in mainly white areas. Georgia had been totally ignorant when it came to Ginny‘s problems as a half white, half black girl. She was willingly teaching her that everything a white person does that could offend Ginny is racist. Of course she will think the policeman in the pilot episode who stared at her is racist, but not teaching her about her culture and her dad‘s mother language. Ginny stated that she felt alone most of the time because she had no friends as she constantly moved around because of Georgia welcoming different partners not only into her life, but also Ginny’s as well. Imagine your parent has a new partner every few months and they will sacrifice your well being to move into their life. These are only very few I just named. There are way more reasons why I think Georgia shouldn’t be seen as an angel while totally ignoring Ginny’s struggles. Georgia had choices in her life and she only made bad ones.

Like as someone who was raised by a toxic narcissist and went to therapy for years I can see all that and I also made a similar comment on Instagram. I think people only see the good sides of her cause there where actually some, but that’s the whole point of narcissists. There is lots of love but also lots of underlying abuse which is very hard to detect especially when hidden so good and if you never knew any better.
I mean this is stupid as the season progresses Georgia does try to understand where Ginny is coming from. In E7 she admits that vulnerability is not a bad thing. She did everything she could for Ginny.
It shouldn't be all up to the mother to teach both sides of a child's roots. The father should have picked up the slack as well. Putting all the blame on the one parent that was there is a bit unfair. Everyone has some blame in this.
Georgia was so consumed with her own feelings, she didn't see that her daughter was suffering. A lot of people blame Ginny and I get it but it's not so cut and dry. Georgia is a textbook narcissist and it's really hard being the eldest daughter of a narcissistic mother, especially one who went through hell so you could have a better life. I can be grateful for all you did for me but still suffer from your parenting methods.

Exactly he neglected her by not being around, Georgia made mistakes yes but she was ALWAYS there. when I was a young girl my father was never around. He wasn’t a good person, but know what affected me more? Him not being there that’s what affected me more, now I’m trying to make up for lost time I’ll never get back. (spoilers) this may be an unpopular opinion but Ginny not being able to process that her own mother, Georgia, is a m*rderer is very reasonable to be too much to handle. Yes she should respect Georgia more but she should also have a safe person to process this and I’m glad she eventually had someone. She understands why she did those things eventually but even later on in the series it doesn’t take away that scary feeling of knowing you are around a murderer and scared as to if she may do it again for the sake of her. Being there isn’t always enough. It’s heart breaking what she went through and how hard she fought to keep, love and protect her kids. But there was never stability. And it’s not easy to understand and empathize with parental sacrifices until your a parent or just fully mature and healed. I’ve lived it.

My bio father left me and my mom when I was in 3rd grade. One year later, turned out he had married another woman. The next day, we looked for him and my mom asked for divorce. My childhood was mostly about me and my mom so I didn't have a hard time loosing him cause he was never there even when they were still together. Since then, never even once I heard anything from him nor met him. He became a total stranger. When I got married, he had to come because we needed his blessing. He came with his 2 daughters, he said they're my sisters, he said he was sorry and cried but I felt nothing. Like I didn't care what he felt, and the only thing I could say was "it's okay." My mom hurted so bad and she never allowed me to meet nor had any contact with him. I don't hate him, but I don't want to talk to him either. I want to respect my mom because she's the one who sacrified everything for me, she did everything to make sure I have a better life. So when he started to approached me after my wedding, I sorta felt like I was forced to be close with someone I wasn't willing to know. I didn't tell him that I was pregnant nor when I gave birth to my lovely daughter. Even when he came to visit but didn't find me in my house (cause I was at my mom's house that time), my family said I was out of town. I know for some people, I should take him back and forgive him. But it's not that easy for my mom. So it's not easy for me too. Maybe one day, I could, but right now, I want to prove to my mom that I'm with her. Cause she's also my everything.

Yes, Georgia deserves respect for protecting ginny, and being there for her. But honestly, this isn't her best moment. I personally wouldn't call this adult/motherly behaviour. The things she's telling ginny are true, but they aren't ginny's burden to bear. It's not her fault, that her mother was there, and her father wasn't. Being in this situation, having to "choose" a parent, isn't healthy for a child, even an older one. Just my opinion🤷🏻♀️

Georgia had to do everything herself while her dad enjoyed life cruising around the world and when the tough part of parenting is over and the kid can finally talk and think, zion comes back acting like a hero here to save the daughter.
