TV Tokyo* can frig right off! I had to re edit this 6 times!! was blocked 5 times. the last one was exactly like this except without the text over the video. Here's the video of openings im reacting to since TV Tokyo doesn't know what fair use is. Watch along with me I guess. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aFIhebJ7NaU.html Also, I had to poop halfway through and I have a damn booger in my nose...what a time.
@Lay o theres a thing called fair use. They are abusing the copyright system. If the content is transformative then you can legally use it, which this is. I cant fight it because they are a giant corporation
Everything has actually been there from the start, the aliens invaded before the series actually begins, it follows the story of an ex samurai who lost in the war and just basically wants to live his life carefree. Gintoki, the MC is 27, Kagura is 14 and Shinpachi is 16- he basically gets stuck with both of them while running his odd jobs business. It leads them on a bunch of wacky adventures to introduce the large cast, and their decisions and actions as the series goes on kinds create a snowball effect to the ending of the series, it goes from bright comedy to dark as the series ends and the MC's past comes back to haunt him. It is a slow burner but an absolutely rewarding series to experience from start to finish.
I think someone put it best when they said one of the genius concepts of this series is that you're seeing these characters in their "natural environment." Initially you are starting off with not too many high stake scenarios, adrenaline rush fights, or even a sense of goal or direction. You are simply following the day to day life and antics of these quirky deadbeats in a postwar world of a sci-fi Edo period Japan; along with many other misfits of this world trying to get by. But know that this chill and seemingly laid back world has a way of subverting your expectations the further you go. Just when you think you've got a read on this as some slice-of-life comedy full of nonsense parodies, running gags, and oneshot stories, it suddenly 180's to a heartwarming or dramatic twist full of life lessons. And the more you uncover about the characters and the world's darker pasts, the more you start to realize this anime isn't what it seemed initially. Not many anime series have managed to achieve the level of writing that this series has accomplished; especially what with the fact that the creator was improvising most of the time. And I can definitely say that it was the series I never regretted watching or reading in the end; especially because it ended strong last year with a movie.
Well, Gintama took place in Edo era Japan. But in this case, instead of the Americans showing up in Japan, the aliens shows up instead. The aliens (also known as Amantos) brought technological advances to Japan. Which lead to certain chain of event that left samurais powerless and subsequent banning of swords. One of these samurais are Gintoki (main protagonist) and Shinpachi (main character with glasses). Together with Kagura (red haired main heroine), they formed the Yorozuya (basically meant "odd jobs" or freelancers). Gintama is an excellent mixture of a slice of life anime and action. It is 70% comedy and 30% action or drama. Its transition from serious to goofy (or vice versa) is completely good, to the point that it ranks high in "Top Anime".
Yeah gintama is mainly a comedy series with serious arcs Also aliens have actually been apart of the show since the beginning, the red haired girl is actually an alien(she's super strong and always carries an umbrella for protection against the sun
I am 90s guy that grow up with pokemon, dbz, one piece, bleach and naruto. I didnt noticed Gintama untill a few years ago. But to me Gintama is def my most fav anime along with one or two other mainstream ones.
This is the funniest, weirdest most random anime you can watch. But it’s also one of the most epic and badass shows you can watch aswell. This is a mainly comedy series that is very episodic but there are serious arcs in between where the underlying story starts to unfold and we get some really good fights. Gintoki the main character is one of the best in shonen. Hilarious and badass. It’s a very unique show and what I consider to be the best shonen cause unlike shows like one piece and Naruto, Gintama breaks the 4th wall and make a ton of references to other anime and Japanese media and doesn’t take itself seriously much until it gets serious
Gintama is a show you probably want to watch only after you've finished a bunch of popular anime. First, it'll help with all the comedy references. But the main reason is that it'll be hard to enjoy any other anime afterwards. It's the most absurd and juvenile show I've ever watched, but also the most heartwarming with the most enjoyable characters.
