Gipsy Avenger vs. Obsidian Fury (Giant Robot Fight) | Pacific Rim: Uprising | All Action 

The problem with Pacific Rim 2 is that it makes the Jaegers smaller, more lightweight and WAY faster. It makes the movie feel less serious and more of what we felt like making those toys fight each other as babies.

Gotta love how the ice doesnt break for thousands of tons of steel slamming/sliding on it, but breaks when they need it to. This is kinda like that scene in Polar Express where the pin broke the ice, but the train didnt, but that was more believable.

The problem with this movie was that it treated the mechs like they were people in an action movie, instead of giant, building sized hunks of metal weighing thousands of tons. Edit: First off, I didn't know this would get so many replies and likes- second, y'all have pretty good points.

Bro is it just me or did the plasma cannon in this movie feel like it was just a blue flash and nothing else Man I miss the old plasma caster from the first movie, that thing was sick

The first movie will always be the ONLY movie I will ever consider in the series, the first movie was just so good

Obsidian Fury was definitely one of the coolest Jaeger designs ever. I just love everything about it

it's funny that right after this fight was over, they were asking the pilots (they thought it had) to be inside to come out and surrender, they had just crossed the jaeger's head with a sword and hoped that there would be a live pilot to go out? Lol

they really dropped the ball on having Obsidian Fury being piloted by people and having a plot around that on top of having other rogue jaegers

Definitely fun to watch. Watching giant robots punching each other will never not be awesome. Even if the story of why they are doing it sucks.

why do they keep telling each other what to do verbally, their brain is literally connected. they should've known what to do without even communicating

0:44 is some of the coolest stuff in the franchise. I know people hate on the speed and weight of the new Jaegers but Obsidian slicing with those chainswords is so cool.

2:50 I don't like how they just punched through Apex’s chest. That's a lot of metal to just punch through it like that. I mean, they just punched him in the stomach with a running start and nothing. Even though he got slashed, it was way too shallow to compromise his chest's armors' structural integrity enough to get punched clean through with just a punch. They should've activated their Elbow Rocket which would've made it believable.💯🤷‍♂️

I think I miss the old gipsy because the old one has better armor in it this looks cool but it look like a suit to me

This is like, the only somewhat good fight in the movie.

You know what, I will give the scene at least this: after causing what I guess is critical damage and an opening to the chest, they stuck with the that as the target at least.

People say the first movie is better, but Pacific Rim 2 can give us this awesome fight between giant robots

My problem with this movie despite liking it was the sheer difference between 1's Jaegers vs 2's. In the first, they were slower more cumbersome, and had major weight behind everything they did while in the second it is the exact opposite. It made the feel and sight of them as they are colossal mechs. Yes, the argument 'its the future' 'their tech has advanced so much more. In my opinion, it both gives and takes to make the movie feel wrong if you are a fan of the first, but if you've only seen the second this is not a problem. One of my favorite takes I read was, 'the first one is mecha V kaiju the second one is more like power rangers' which summarizes these movies well.

This movie had some awesome ideas: Jeager vs Jeager fights Impostor among us (direct reference) Kaiju x Jeagers (the infected drones) The mega Kaiju People making jeagers from scrap Sadly it had a terrible production, but it's still an enyojable movie to watch on a family movie night

It's unfortunate. If the plot was tweaked a little here and there, the acting was improved a tad, and they made the jeagers more heavy and mechanical like in the first film, this could've been a great sequel! The plot on it's own isn't bad, especial the involvement of a rouge jeager such as Obsidian Fury

Best giant mech vs mech fight up to date. Excellent graphic & special effect. This cgi were more complete & detailed than the 1st one. Daytime full cgi were extremely difficult compared to the night time fight.

This fan project is insane! Closest thing we’ll get to a sequel

The thing I liked about the first pacific rim conpod scenes is that the conpod moved and it felt like you're actually inside the Jager and it was more emersive

Like people said: It feels like power rangers now with how mobile and undamageable the jaegers had gotten. To address why it doesn’t work we refer to the old jaeger designs. Working with nuclear reactors often as the primary fuel source. Striker eureka, being the fastest of all the jaegers at the end of Pacific Rim was marginally more responsive. The tactility in the joints made it much more capable of complex movement akin to actual human movement but there was more weight and momentum need to get a strike in. One strike to the chest by the category 5 caused severe haemorrhaging of vital fluids despite the heavy steel construction. Overall, older jaegers were made with much heavier material to make the blows more impactful and to protect vital weakpoints of a jaeger The newer models are: -Taller -Lighter -Much more tactile -Very energy efficient* -Somehow more durable Armoured warfare dictates that you cannot have the perfect trifecta of armour, speed, or firepower. At least, not to perfect mastery. Yet these jaegers are able to leap on top of buildings (demonstrating mobility and the lack of weight), are able to cleanly punch through other jaegers (lack of armour, more firepower) and simultaneously tank hits most other jaegers would not (somehow more armour) 2:27 onward: glancing blows by plasma chainswords would be one thing (edge alignment), but the cutting on the con pod should’ve ripped away some material if not depressurised it. Then the headbutt…oh the headbutt…the thin, glass screens you just rammed against another equally as strong structure didn’t break. As for the asterisk to the energy efficiency: it’s explained that gypsy avenger has two reactors to ensure steady flow of fuel and electricity to the frame, yet thrice I believe we see it short out on power, is incapable or rarely used to fuel purge and the smaller mechs run on small batteries somehow found in the now hallway like innards of the fallen jaegers. Rant over this movie wasn’t a true sequel and should rightfully be forgotten and only remembered as a “what not to do”

Awesome seeing the each of their weapons with combat fighting moves, and a Jager vs another Jager. Although it does look better having a Jager vs a kaiju fight/ battle rather this, Jager vs Jager.

Movie was bad, but at least its still entertaining.

The way the Jaegers move and fight it looks like it was taken from an MCU movie, specifically anything with Iron Man. The big difference, of course, is that Iron Man's suits are just that, a much smaller suit designed to cover a single person, whereas a Jaeger is supposed to be a giant, hulking mechanized robot.

Ngl, I do love the killing blow Gypsy Avenger pulls off There is something so satisfying about a clean torso punch Suppose it's a melee version of a bullseye

Y’all can keep complaining about the flaws, I’m just here to watch robots fight giant monsters and evil robots.

Jaeger pilots do a drift. Where their movement and thoughts synchronize. The scenes here make it look like they have to keep communicating to make decisions. notice how the other pilot didnt see the missiles while the other notices a split second earlier, where in truth they shouldve seen that at the same time. The 1st movie didnt make this mistake. Or maybe these 2 guys are just not drift compatible

Its too smooth, one of the reasons i loved the first movie were the slow, ponderous, clunky movements that gave these things weight. Its why cherno alpha was my fav. But these are too smooth, for all eye know these things could be two normal sized men in suits. There's no size or weight to these things.

I have to say out of all the jaegers in this film the only 2 that moved more like the first film were november ajax and obsidian fury as they moved slower than the rest which made them both (especially obsidian fury) feel more like a strong slow powerhouse of a machine. Obsidian fury has to be one of the only good parts of the film

It's weird how after they kinda forced the movie out they cancelled all future plans. Del Toro wasn't available, Hunnam wasn't available due to filming other projects. So why would they go ahead, do a new script and everything? They probably knew it wouldn't be recieved well but they still made it. They couldn't of waited for both Toro and Hunnam to be available?

You know what, I don't hate this movie. The first one is definitely better in just about everything. I still like what they tried to do in this one, even if it's not executed very well.

This movie is still enjoyable despite all it's flaws but it could have been even better than the original if it was a prequel about the first kaiju invasions before the jaegers and then the first jaeger V kaiju fights

I love how they tank the rockets instead of dodging and are fine, but in Sydney they dodge them and get an entire building of innocent people killed. They really didn’t understand what made the original work, did they?

I thought this movie was decent but the problem I have with it is that I thought Pacific Rim was a movie that didn't need a sequel and this movie did not feel like Pacific Rim but some kind of Optimus Prime VS Megatron type of feeling.

As much as this movie sucked, they had great action sequences, especially with Obsidian Fury

The one thing I have to give this movie for was the choreography of this fight, it was fairly entertaining to watch and I honestly thought this movie had a chance to be good during it, The starting sequence kind of sucked, but once we got the fights with Obsidian Fury I was hopeful, There are some obvious mistakes with it but it was good, That hope unfortunately went out the window right around when the Hybrid drones started showing up, and everything after that just went downhill fast.

The chainsaw move was ok but they made it look light in the second movie and fast

If you pay attention, in all fights scene, Jake sync with Gipsy movements better, demonstrating he is a very talented pilot

Its sad that the plasma canon just turned into a knockbock gun since when gipsy shot obsidian fury he only got knocked back nothing else and the mega kaiju it does like no damage it only makes sound and knockbacks enemies except for kaijus apperently
