GOD there's just something about this movie that feels so good, each time i watch it - it's so weighty, there's detail in every little thing, the body language of the Jaegers - timeless, Pacific Rim will always be timeless, and i wish its legacy had better followups

Gotta love when Raleigh tells Mako to vent the coolant and says he'll hold it. This is her first time in a Jaeger vs Kaiju fight so she doesn't have the experience or mental strength to command a Jaeger on her own, while Raleigh solo-piloted Gypsy Danger back to shore after his brother was killed. He can absolutely handle Otachi single-handed for a couple of moments while Mako disengages from direct body control to perform a secondary non-combative Jaeger function.

This is how a big robot move, not like dame ninja in Pacific rim 2

I know it’s been said so many times by now, but I want to add my own little bit to the pile. I love how in the first movie everything feels so heavy. The jeagers feel like a waking skyscrape, not a plastic toy doing backflips off of buildings. Every punch feels, for lack of a better term, juicy. Everything has sooo much more weight to it and I love it.

One thing that I love about this scene is that all the damage done by Gipsy Danger is unintentional, they’re trying keep the city intact. When the boat hit the buildings it was because it was knocked out of it’s hands, when Gipsy hit a building, it was either because he missed or was knocked into it, even when Gipsy was walking on the road it stepped over the highway instead of just walking through it.

From start to end pacific rim 1 is total satisfaction movie , but with pacific uprising i had to fast forward it to watch something better

I don't think people understand how visual physic works in the comment section, and also especially for the director for Pacific Rim 2. Things that are a lot bigger would seem to move slower, even though they're moving in incredible fast speed. Their body looks like they're moving in slow motion, but what is really happening is that the sheer size of the giant robot encompasses your peripheral vision. That is why the first Pacific Rim looks so much better and realistic, and also the attention to small details on the robots and kaiju... Pacific Rim 2 was a slap stick that didn't put attention to the realism of making us feel like we`re watching an actual giant robot battle. Instead we have motion capture of animated fighting. The reason why it feels fake compared to the first one. Hoping ppl in the internet would understand -_-

Coming back to this clip after many years, I've come to realize how crushingly resilient Otachi was. It's tail was doused in liquid nitrogen and it had an organ brutally ripped out and all it had in response was a ravenous battlecry. These kaijus were truly apocalyptic creatures.

The sound effects in this movie are amazing. From the weighty footsteps, to the clicking and clanging of the gears. Pacific Rim is just a great time all around. GDT really put a lot of love into the first one.

Im still peeved that when this movie first came out, i couldnt find anyone to say something good about it. It is a solid movie that will look good in the next 10 years or more, solid characters and story. Wasnt untill the second one came out and made a ton of mistakes that everyone went hack to the original to praise it.

I like how they went for the Kaiju's main method of attack first. They ripped off the first Kaiju's back to stop its EMP blast, and with this one they wasted no time in tearing off the acidic sack in its mouth. It's one of the reasons why these fights are so well choreographed and designed. Even without the pilots, you can feel that the Jaegers are alive and humanlike because they learn as they fight. Gypsy Danger knew to watch out for the tail, and the acid spit and made sure to cut them both off, leaving the Kaiju defenseless.

It looks so good In 1080p in 60fps..Quality. When i first saw this in 2013 i fell in love with it. Then the sequel came and ruined it for me.

I went to see this in the theater and within ten minutes knew I HAD to take my kids to see it. We went the next day. They had no idea what it was about. I remember my four year old yelling with excitement when the first Kaiju breaks through the golden gate bridge. Easily one of my most memorable movie moments.

Despite them being acrobatic in their fights you can always feel the weight of them and their punches. There are very few people who can pull it off in a movie like that. Del Toro knew what he was doing. I still love this movie and can't wait for a sequel (there is no such film as Uprising).

Pacific rim 1 blows my mind each time I watch it.. one of the best scifi movies I've ever watched ❤

God, the fights in this movie are so well paced. There's rarely a wasted moment, everything that happens flows into each other. Gypsy drops in on Leatherback and the first thing she does is rip off the EMP generator. Then when Leatherback looks dead, Gypsy pauses as her last mission failed when the Kaiju was mistaken for dead. So, more plasma rounds are shot into it's chest until the only thing it's ribs are protecting is the burning remains of it's organs. Otachi shoots acid, Gypsy immediately rips out the sack the acid was spat from. Etc, etc. And everything has weight and scale to it. When Gypsy is searching the streets for Otachi, we see with a single step it's passing multiple high rises. There's also an effort to destroy as little property as possible, shown we Gypsy steps over the little sidewalk overpass. Gypsy could have easily walked through it but why destroy more than what's necessary? The blade Gypsy has, was only used after every other possible means of destroying Otachi was off the table. The swords on Striker and Gypsy are shown to carve through Kaiju, but spill thousands of liters of their radioactive blood all over the place.
