The manager of Girardi's Frozen Yogurt wants to make sure his employees understand what the corkboard in the back is for. (A character monologue written & performed at Comedy Death Ray by Joe Wengert)
I came back to this video literally after 10 YEARS because I randomly thought of the line and tone "I'll give you another example!" and had to rack my brain for where it was from! Still hilarious.
I keep coming back to this video over and over again because I think it's one of the best written monologues I've ever heard. This character and the world he inhabits is so fleshed out in such a short amount of time. After just 3 or 4 minutes the audience goes from a little confused about where the premise is going to totally on board and loving this character who's like very genuine and personable but also extremely literal and totally unable to grasp the humor of his young employees though he's trying desperately hard to do so. You feel like you're in the back room of the yogurt shop and laughing at your boss yourself. All in 8 minutes. Wengert is so good.
Okay, so I didn't get it at first, but then I read @TimothyRedburn 's comment. I watched it twice, and I'm starting to understand the metaphor, but there's somthing missing still.
