The problem with discriminating based on hair is that it always ends up being a stand-in for racism. Of course people should look professional - I've known people in my family who's grooming habits are in the toilet and its gross. But unless it smelled or something, its just a stand-in for racism. So happy this conversation is being brought up, I have been in the position where for a job I was told I couldn’t have dreadlocks.. When it came to the time of brushing my hair out, I cried, the strength my locs had given me was being taken so I could in turn take care of myself. No one should have to experience that feeling. If you are qualified for the job and the only thing holding back someone to hire you is hair, it is time that not just businesses owners but everyone is educated properly about locs!! So thank you 🙏 for using your platform to talk about The REAL in life that many can relate to, and bringing positive energy and intentions to many subjects. 💞

Jokes That Go Too Far ----------------- Honestly back in 2016 when I saw this happened... AT FIRST I loved that they added a Latino cast member!!! I'm not Latino but I was glad! I'm a minority that loves to see other minorities represented & given the opportunity to show off their talents... HOWEVER this stuff that Melissa said either were for attention for the new episode that she was supposed to be on for the first time ! That's not right for you to write stuff that you know is wrong but you write it anyway! Humor is medicine however it can also be poisonous... You know what I mean! At the end of the day just be careful what you say about about a person no matter if you're joking or not ! I mean look at Roseanne... 2 years later we talked about this season and she made a " joke " that fell flat relating to race & she lost her job! Rejected For An Opportunity Based on Hair ---------------- swear if it was a white woman with " locs" it would be this ora of " OMG LOOK AT CHIQUE , UNIQUE LOOK , HOW DID THEY GET THE BRAIDS & THE COLOR " Like it wouldn't be questioned if it's a whit person wearing them... but let's not act like it's also a form of prejudice in a way , it's a double standard on both sides and I don't think it's fair ! Jenne I'm so in love with u but I'm way too old when I was in Vietnam I got a dear John letter from my wife saying she found someone else well I started see a vietnamese lady and fell in love so when I left Vietnam I tried to bring her home with me but because my divorce wasnt finalized the military wouldn't let me well China took over Saigon and I heard they killed any woman who had an American man so my heart was broken I tried to love I tried marriage and other things but I never got over her so whatever happened in ur life move on I went 20 years no marriage and no love so please dont do what I did and I'm not saying I didnt try love again but the love was never the same I've really loved twice in my life once when I was young and once in Vietnam all the others were not true love because I couldn't let go so please dont be me live ur life to the fullest I'm 67 just waiting for my time to be up I'm catholic so no taking my life I know I'll never get to heaven but not bad enough for hell just enjoy life wish u the best
