Thank you for rescuing him! Many people wouldn't. Parrots will usually seek out people when they are lost. So glad you picked him up and decided to keep him. You're doing a great job!
@@snowflakehunter lol care to explain what you mean by that? What quote exactly from the video are you talking about? Because all you said was that it isn't a parrot, which is false. How does that "tie onto" anything that was said in the video? Waiting for your explanation, this should be good. And yea, some people (like you) really are dumb.
You have a beautiful harlequin parakeet. It is a male as the cere (nostril area) is blue. Females are tan or a whitish color. Yes, it’s young. Younger parakeets have many dark lines all the way from their nostril area going up. As they age, these lines advance and less lines are seen closer to the face. PLEASE be careful if he has free rein in your home. One mis-step or closing door could lead to tragedy. Also any Teflon based pots or pans are bad. They give off an odor that humans can’t detect, but which will kill birds. Also any type of air freshener, scented candles, cigarette smoke etc could affect its health or even cause its demise. Please look up food diets for parakeets . Ice cream is not good. Thank you for not abandoning this precious bird! God bless you! 😊❤🦜
Thank you for your bird wisdom. I was thinking of getting a couple parakeets, but I am still undecided if I want to commitment. So until I am 100% sure, I refrain from getting them. But thank you for the knowledge you shared.
If you’re going to keep him flighted, please be super careful of doors and windows. When you close a door, make sure he’s not around. Keep the toiled lid closed at all times. Be careful of pots on the stove. I could go on and on, but you get the point. Safety is so important.
I had a friend in Houston whose two budgies were stolen from her home. She was heartbroken, and so after about a week to let her grieve, we all pooled our money and got her two budgies. You can never replace a beloved pet, but you can always find room in your heart to love another one. ♥
That's a beautiful and compassionate gesture from you and your friends! Losing a beloved pet is indeed heart-wrenching, but your act of getting her two new budgies shows the resilience of love and the capacity of the heart to welcome new companions. It's a testament to the bond we share with our feathered friends. 🐦💖
sadly the world out there isnt budgie friendly, they can fall prey to hawks, cats etc.. and the fact they are domesticated means they wont find food nor water. also depending where you live they can die through bad weather conditions or freeze to death at night. and then there is the "how high is the chance" that a human recognize the bird he is watching is a budgie and the budgie itself is willing enough to let it be catched or picked up etc.. so yea, i also hope your bird found a new home 20 years ago but the chances are slim that he made it :(
@@hito1988We had a lot of wild budgies in our area. So there is probably a good chance that he found new friends, too. It doesn't get to freezing where we lived.
Yes I thought my baby girl budgie needed a friend also, now I have 12 budgies 8 years later! Turns out the friend I got her was a boy, they all look the same when they are babies, but the boys only have one thing on their mind and that is making more babies!
I'm glad to hear you appreciate the joy that these little characters bring. A buddy budgie could indeed be a great idea for added fun and companionship. Thanks for the suggestion! 🦜💙
I saw a white thing across the street, my mum went out, caught it and it turned out to be a baby bird, we think its a Canary Finch as its yellow / grey. He did used to sing like mad which was amazing but he's getting old now, losing his feathers, and only tweets when I say hi to him. He does make it clear when strangers (even other family members) get near his cage he isn't happy. He has been a real joy and I dread the day he'll go to Feather Heaven.
I love parakeets 🐦and had one when I was kid! Lucy flew onto our balcony from somewhere, obviously escaped from someone's aptm, just like Baby. 😆 Such a pleasure to had that bird as a part of our family! 🐦❣️
What a delightful coincidence with Lucy! It's amazing how these feathered friends can find their way into our lives. The joy they bring as part of the family is truly special. 🦜💕
He or she is in love with you. When I was about four we had two Perrakeets a yellow and a green one. My dad could whistle like Field Lark and he'd get close to the cage and whistle and the Yellow Perrakeet would inch upto the ti him and chirp and rub against the bars and the green Perrakeet would get so jealous and and make chirping ruckus. They were the cutest little things.
I once had lost two budgies during a move. Their cage fell apart outside. After searching and crying for days, I could only hope they would find such sweet love as you are giving this little bird. Thank for caring.🌹
@@CuddleBuddiesChannel Absolutely! And it is confounding that people ever used the term "bird brain" to describe an idiot while birds are some of the smartest creatures on the planet.
I sincerely hope he escaped and was not just dumped to die - the latter is more likely from a monster of a human being. Thank you for giving this beauty a loving life,.
That sounds like such a delightful and heartwarming story! Parakeets have a way of bringing joy and becoming cherished members of the family. What a special bond your grandmother had with her feathered friend. 😄🐦
A cockatiel landed on my farm one time. Took me 3 days to catch him. I ended up getting him a birdcage, which I'd bring outside on nice days and allow him to fly free range around the property and then bring him back in in the evenings.
Budgies are really sweet, very interesting, and much easier to look after than a larger bird. Many years ago we had a budgie, Harvey, that lived to the ripe old age of nearly 8. ❤🩵💙💚🤍
Harvey sounds like a wonderful and long-lived companion! Budgies do have a special charm, and their smaller size often makes them more manageable as pets. It's heartening to hear about the love and care you provided for Harvey. Those eight years must have been filled with countless precious moments. 🐦❤️🌈
I don't know how anyone can be in a bad mood around one of these little featherbabies. They're so relentlessly cheerful! My bird is also named Baby, but he's a cockatiel. Very sweet and affectionate, can't imagine life without him.
Keets are funny little clowns ❤. I used to have a group of about 6. They love toys made for parakeets, which used to be a lot better than what you can find these days.
Budgies are tiny parrots, if you know how, you can potty train them to go in a certain spot, they can learn to talk, understanding them might be a little difficult, their voices are shrill and more birdlike than other parrot species, you can teach them all kinds of really cool stuff. Unfortunately their lifespan in comparison to other species of parrot are very short maybe 15 years, even the love bird and cockatiel live longer than that. Of all the parrot species, budgiers are unfortunately the most abused. Not so many are nearly as lucky as this little dude.
I found a budgie outside too! He was my bestie. Passed away in 2020. People just let them out sometimes. It’s so cruel. Congrats on finding such a little gem
@@CooperGal24 It happens both ways unfortunately. I had a budgie in high school that accidentally flew out an open window but got her back 1 week later after placing an ad. A classmate's father let her budgies out the back door because he was tired of them. He was kind of mean.
I had the same thing happen to me, but with a Cockatoo. Only difference is it knocked on my glass door and when I opened, it invited itself right in like it owned the place. 😆
I had a parakeet fly in the window eleven stories up in a high rise. Never knew where she came from or how old she was. I had her for six years until she died. She was very sweet, and I loved her very much. She was not tame, but I always felt that she was grateful to be in my home.
What a remarkable story of your high-rise visitor! It's clear she found a loving home with you. Even if not tame, the connection you shared speaks volumes. Six years of companionship and love is truly something special. She was lucky to have you, and it's evident that your care meant the world to her. 🏙️🦜💕
Thank you for your sweet reply. That parakeet led to a thirty-seven year love affair with birds. I haven’t had one for awhile, but I do think about it.
They originate from the Australian inland desert. They live in colonies of millions. It’s an amazing sight to see them in the wild. Highly intelligent and highly social.
I had a budgie when I was a kid and he LOVED fingernails. Whenever we put our hands on the table palm facing down, he would run to each fingertip sing as if they were either babies or a partner. He would try to feed them by regurgitating seeds 😂😂
Also have clean cage, fresh water every day, some vitamins in the water now and then, and protect it from cold and wind, they easilly catch cold. these little guys deserve the best. And have a piece of cloth over hie cage when his asleep for the lights.❤
I found one just like that when I was a kid. I was swimming in a pool at a relatives house and the parakeet landed right on the edge of the pool! He hopped on a finger and came with us. We bought some birdseed on the way home and he ate it in the car sitting on the headrest!!! He spoke and said his name was "prettybird"...
I had a green and yellow parakeet that was fantastic. He'd be on a curtain rod in my bedroom and I'd walk down the hall and hold up my hand with my index finger out and he'd fly right to me and land on my finger. Years later I got another green and yellow and a blue and white. The green and yellow was as good as my first parakeet. The blue and white one however, was a demon. It never liked me getting near it. That thing had a mean streak.
I had parakeets as a kid. They make great pets if you really are prepared to take good care of them. I have always loved all birds big and small. I feed all the wild birds in my backyard every day. But this makes me want to have another little feathered friend inside too. He found his perfect mom! 💕
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience with parakeets! They truly are amazing feathered friends. It's heartwarming to hear your love for all birds, both wild and those in our homes.🦜💕
Somebody's parakeet escaped and lived for years in my local park. I'm in the north of Scotland so it was quite impressive how it survived the cold... and the hawks.
She seems like a really sweet and genuine person. This little birdie hit the jackpot. Maybe I should go to the park and hang out under a tree. I'm domesticated too but I can't find a sweet owner.
That is extremely sweet. Why not have a loving relationship with a bird if that bird gives so much to your life & you to his. All animals are sentient beings after all. Birds are a lot more intelligent than people think. Enjoy him whilst you have him in your world, it's precious.
My mama rescued a baby sparrow whose mom was nowhere to be found. Fed it like a bird mama would by chewing food for it and having it eat it off her tongue. One day she didn't realize she had left the back door when he was flying around the house. She was in the back yard crying and calling, Chippy Chippy to about 20 birds sitting on a telephone cable. A neighbor friend said you will never see him again. She kept crying and calling when a few minutes later Chippy flew down and sat on her shoulder while she walked back into the house.
Chippy continued. One evening when he was flying around the house, we could find him anywhere. Then we heard weak little cheeps. We traced the sound to behind a very large bookcase where he was trapped. We got it totally unloaded and moved in minutes. He fell to the floor and Mama saw his little leg was broken. she splinted it with a toothpick and stayed awake all night cradling him in her hand and giving him water. His leg healed perfectly and he died of natural causes at whatever age is old for sparrows.
Wow that's fabulous, glad your Mama's tears turned to joy & Chippy loyally & with love came back to her , the carer & the person who loved him/her the most. Lovely story 👏👏🤗
I have almost the same story! I caught a female blue budgie along a trail near my house in 2018. She had been obviously dumped, as she couldn’t really fly, and there were no homes nearby. Just in case, I put ads everywhere trying to find the owner… but no-one claimed her. She’s still with me today!
hes so gorgeous look at that all around blue and then his wings are all white??? he is so special and thank you for keeping him hes an angel, and he liked you from the get go💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Unfortunately some birds are abandoned, but some accidentally fly out an open door or window. Mine was an accidental escapee but I got her back after a kind family answered my lost budgie ad.
In this time of Social Media Validation and attention seeking, I can’t help but wonder if this is a script… a baby budgee out in the cold, suddenly happened upon by a kind stranger that never liked birds and happy ever after… seems a lil too good to be true. Just my Humble Opinion
i had a similar experience. i didn't know anything about birbs, and in fact, was slightly scared of them, because a hummingbird, moving fast, ran into my face one day, and it hurt and made me bleed. but then i started living with someone with parakeets, and now i can't get enough of them. theyre so sweet!
Oh, what a journey from a hummingbird surprise to falling in love with parakeets! It's amazing how our perceptions can change. They truly are sweet and bring so much joy. Welcome to the wonderful world of feathered friends! 🕊️💖
I have never seen such a playful and enthusiastic budgie. Pixel and Kiwi come close, but Baby looks like he leaves them in the dust with the way he wrestled with the scrunchy and chased the egg.
I love to see no cages ❤ I do think certain pets should be in pairs. I would love to know if house birds poop everywhere? or do they go in a litter tray?😅
You can go anywhere in the world and come back with a animal friend!! These exceptional creatures are all around us!! That's what makes life worth living!! It's all about our furry friends!!❤❤!!!!
