Actually, John and it's diminutive, Jack, are often interchangeable. But since it's not really shorter( e.g. Robert/Bob), then it's confusing. The best and most famous example of John becoming "Jack" is President John Kennedy. His family often called him Jack.
This movie must be one of the most unrealistic movies ever: a man turning down Jessica Alba repeatedly in that situation? That makes Marvel movies look like documentaries and Star Wars seem like a science lesson.
As a Malaysian, I'm feeling really proud that our culture was shown in Hollywood eventhough there is some misinterpretation in it. Love from native Iban people from Malaysia 🙏🇲🇾
It's always fascinating to me to get to see other cultures and ways of life. Even if some of the details are off you can usually get a feel for the cultures and people.
@@chideraalexanderdex547 no, the sex gift (ngayap) is only allowed with the women parent permission. ☺️ But ngayap doesn't necessarily to do sex, it can just be a dating. In Iban culture, if the person doing sex with their partner, they must marry as soon as possible.
Fun fact: 🎬 The film's production team actually built an entire village set in Malaysia to bring the colonial backdrop to life. The attention to detail really transported me back in time! 🕰🌴
As A Malaysian myself, I’m really proud that Hollywood making a movie about Malaysia. Even though the movie is 6/10 for me, I still happy to see it. Love my country!!!!! 🇲🇾
And to further disrespect Malaysian culture, they just had to cast a hspanek woman to do it. Hollywood - relentlessly throwing Asia under the bus, just like they did with One Piece🙄
Just hearing them describe the situation of the dictionary whatever thing as Jessica Alba is standing there in front of me would cause me to n** my pants in front of everybody. "You will have sex with Jessica Alba. Again and again and again..." "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!"
@@dakingataleedo She can leave whenever she wants. She has enough money to attract a very wealthy man. Smart, beautiful, and classy women tend to marry up.
Yeah, Jessica Alba is an absolute stunner and still is her and Jessica Beall were my two favorites in the early 2000s I used to say that was my dream three-way. 😂
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus Christ loves you so much that He died for your sins and rose from the dead. If you repent from evil ways, believe that Jesus has paid the fine for your sins on the cross and confess Him as your Lord, you will be saved. You see, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, that's why Jesus Christ, fullness of Godhead bodily, lived a perfect life, fulfilled the prophecies and law, shed His Blood at the cross just so you could be forgiven, reconciled back to the Father, receive God's love, be made a new creation, whole, sanctified. It's not about religion and what good works you can do to earn salvation, it's only by grace through faith in the finished works of Jesus Christ. Read God's Word, preferably start with Gospel of John, pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you, give you wisdom and revelation that way you're born again and see your life changed by the Spirit of the Most High. Much love and God bless you!
sometimes these recaps does be about some great movies. When i watch the recap, i sometimes regret not watching the movie. this was a must watch movie. oh what a twist
to be COMPLETELY honest romantically i did do do and/or will SOMEWHAT like jessica alba because she's LITERALLY always had and still has an EQUALLY REALLY attractive face
I was so in love with her by the time this movie came out i didn't even care it wasn't that great. I watched this movie like 8 times. Hugh Darcy Carried this movie.
the Dayaks in Borneo malaysian headhunters worked with Australian, Z Special Unit and asked them to return to cutting heads of the Japanese in WW2 the Headhunters got paid for every head they took very Brave men the Dayaks
I am glad we were finally told us who Jessica Alba's father was, because I thought they were insinuating that they were brother and sister for a while their.
They keep calling Jessica Alba "Selma" and I keep thinking "Selma Hayek" because they are both insanely hot and it's distorting the picture of what I am watching.
I didn't see Jessica Alba, when I was in Sarawak. :o( I watched this movie years ago and even wrote the IMDb plot. I like re-watching the movie in an abridged version.
Seen the movie. I do not know if the term 'sleeping dictionary' really does exist, but I have added it to my vocabulary. The film was not great, but definitely nice to see
@@dialecticalmonist3405 well it was in the movie. Not sure if it was a real thing in real life, but it doesnt seem too far fetched. I have had a couple of 'sleeping dictionaries' (aka girlfriends who spoke a different language and helped me learn it).
Came across this drama recap very intferesting story line as history tells us, that the European people explored the natives in Every part of the world for its natural resources, silver gold turquoise diamonds, herbal medicine in the name of Colonization. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the way We live. Its called the the 3 M's ,missionary, military, and monetary .😊
Dude Jessica was so freaking dreamy. so many Actresses start out as what i would describe as perfect, and then its like hollywood just "forces" them to lose weight and get plastic surgery, its so sad to me.
You could've picked so many hollywood actors to prove that frustration and you picked her? She has had little to no work done... and she's still dreamy imho.
Very interesting movie; never heard of it. Thanks for the great recap. And although this one tries to add more characters with redeeming qualities, it's, of course, another example of European colonizers ( the Brits and Dutch) wreaking havoc wherever they are welcomed.
you mean when they get impregnated with a white man? Easy. Put the burden of fatherhood on a nativeman...and escape the collective white guilt, just like the character Henry here...
I'd be reluctant to sleep with her right up until I found out that she was there by her own choice. At that point the stunning beauty that is Jessica Alba would become completely irresistible! There are other women who are as beautiful a Jessica Alba, but damn few if any that are more so. She is amazing.
@@guest6398 If I thought she was there against her will I would not sleep with her regardless of how beautiful she is. I do not share my bed with anyone who doesn't want to be there, period.
Who the heck is Jack and is that the sake as John? They keep switching names and looks like the same person. Plus, in the credits, there is no Jack. What the heck???
I don't think she was really pregnant. Most likely, her mother told her to say that, to keep John. Just guessing, the full movie would have cleared that up.
============================================ I once visited the house in Sheepstor, Devon, England, ============================================ that was built by the Rajah of Sarawak Amazing that such a family had such a beneficial effect. Sarawak sounds as if it is a great place to visit, and has a great history. /
@@JJ-yc2sv While I'm sure you are right about Malaysia, the rest of the world drives like America. Only Britain, Australia, India, South Africa, Japan and a hand full of smaller countries drive on the left side of the road. About 35%. China, Russia, USA, Canada, South America, The Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe, The Netherlands, and most of Africa drive on the right side of the road and the wheel is on the left. So we can work the transmission with our right hand. Since 90% of homo sapiens are right handed.
If you don’t like the colonizers you can always go back to living in a jungle with heights and sticks. You don’t want to use any of our colonizers technology!
actually sam if you had watched the movie instead of breaking leftist you would realise the movie does an amazing job at highlighting the benefits and the negatives of colonisation in an open and frank way challenging the viewer to draw their own conclusions. It didn't push a narrative it just told a story. Everything that is wrong with current day cinema.
