One day i wear a dress at class a person insult me, she say :”you always wear dress it makes my eyes so itchy omg” and i told them “then scratch it it won’t be itchy anymore” :)
the ironic thing is, when i was younger my father used to forbid me from dyeing my hair black because it would look “unnatural” and make me look “depressed”... he was totally fine with me dyeing it blonde or white or reddish. learning about asian attitudes towards bleaching hair made me realize it’s totally about what’s the most common hair colour in a country. people just tend to judge anything that stands out.
I had the same experience. My parents refused to let me dye my hair black, because I wasn't "allowed" to be "emo," or "goth," or, "look depressed." (I was/am suffering from depression but that honestly wasn't why I chose black. I remember being very bitter when my younger sister was allowed not long after to dye her hair some brighter color.
Why would he associate black hair with depression lmao. Almost everyone in my country has black hair, and we are just normal human beings not depressed people lol.
@@hatehighnotes1704 well in my country natural black hair is extremely rare. especially southern parts of the country where i live. the majority of people are blondes and rest have varying shades of brown. my hair is dark brown and it’s pretty much the darkest natural colour it gets around here, unless you’re a foreigner. that’s also why he thought black hair would look unnatural. dyed black hair, especially on teens, is often seen as something goth/emo/depressed kids have. on adults tho dyed black long hair is more often seen as heavy/death metal related, which is for some reason seen as cool and completely fine with pretty much everyone. well adults can pretty much dye their hair to whatever colour here without people making assumptions. it’s mostly just teens dyeing hair dark that people seem to judge the most.

@@henkkahenrik4183 Interestingly, a lot of people (here) don't see another color positively. Most of us naturally have black hair, and some of us (especially the elderly) are so proud of it. They don't usually show it, but when they see people they know with another hair color, they sometimes say that they look better with black hair, because it suits any color. My mum is different, though. I naturally have reddish brown hair and she keeps on telling me to use ointment to make it black or darker at least (because our religious belief don't allow coloring hair). Of course I ignore it, hair color isn't important for me. But I feel annoyed from time to time.
In certain countries, you’d definitely stand out, and I wouldn’t put it passed someone to make a fuss of it. I had pretty vibrant hair for a while and (luckily) I got a lot of sweet comments on it…..but then there were some people on the older side who looked at me like I was from another planet.
older people have mindsets from when they were young :) they never saw people expressing themselves though their appearance, so they believed it was wrong to. sometimes things set in stone are too hard to rub out

All the time. You know the only thing that prevents my mom from letting me dye my hair was that she was afraid that people would judge. Hell yeah they did but I still did it anyway. But it felt good haha

Girlfriend, I JUST looked at this today(Monday August 30,201). The fact that old woman said "that makes you look like a foreigner"got me angry and she was chastening someone that's not her daughter. I so happy that ALOT of women stood up for het and made feel beautiful. That warmed my heart heart

I'm from Italy and I've done a lot of colors on my hair, and I've always been judged, sometimes loudly. One time I had short lilac hair and I was in a store with my mom, we got a few meters apart and a young guy who was there with his girlfriend insulted me. I didn't hear it, and his girlfriend didn't respond I think she wasn't listening to him, but my mom was right next to them and she got mad. The girlfriend shot a terrible look at him and they went away, but even the sales assistant thought it was ridiculous to insult me for my hair, especially because it was 2014 and he was as young as I was. Not everyone is like this, I've also received a lot of compliments and beautiful words, but mainly bad looks from random people on the street. Not to mention the fact that if you dye your hair red then you're automatically a whore. I've had red hair for half of my life, I've been told this thing since I was in school.
Omg so relatable. My natural hair is reddish brown and my mum keeps on saying that I look like a b**ch. She keeps on telling me to use some herbs to darken my hair color (black hair is the "normal" one here), because my religion doesn't allow coloring hair. one thing i’ve noticed from the video is some people defending the girl said “you’re not even her mum why are you caring?” but thing is..my mum talks like that to me all the time- stuff like “you’re disgusting, and ugly. why cant you be pretty like those models. when i envisioned having a daughter i imagined someone beautiful etc etc” and i’ve learnt to block out those kinds of stuff or else it would really affect my self esteem. but is it only acceptable when your parents say those stuff to you? when the person saying it is your mum does it, then, make it okay?

This video almost made me cry because I have extremely curly and kinky hair, and people used to bully me in school for it and some still do, they made me feel like I should change myself, but I never did and now I've learned to love it and I truly believe I am beautiful
@Hailee Briella was the insult for the colour of your hair? or just for the fact that you dyed it? cuz i can KINDA understand if they think red or purple or green is just ugly, but they are ok with the conventional blonde, so they are insulting the aesthetics of it, versus some people are just very old school and think dying hair is like getting piercing, tattoos, and all that stuff, they think its for low life street kids or something.

I've also felt that way when I dyed my hair blue and purple everyone mocked me as a "bad boy" but I don't think that's a guarantee never judge people from the outside maybe from the outside they have colored hair tattoos but we don't know what kind of heart there are actually many people whose clothes are polite and closed, it turns out that his behavior is a bastard :)
Man, this hits close to home :/ last year i dyed my hair half and half and my mom actually keep telling how much she hates my hair and how i look like a cheap girl. After i dyed my hair back to black my mom suddenly ask why i dyed it back. I can relate to it, I've deep black hair and I did ombre highlights in blue and purple . I met some people staring and spewing shit about me, so i had to be the rude one and tell them to shut up. Well anyways it's good to see that people do stand up for others at times.
