Okay, basically. 1. Grandma is weirdass cult queen 2. Grandma wanted his demon hubby to have human body 3. When Alex was born, Granny was very insistent to have Alex because of #2 4. Mom thought it was weird so Alex was kept from Granny 5. Granny was still insistent so when Charlie was born, Mom "gave" her to Granny 6. Whatever human soul was in Charlie's body was gone as an infant, already replaced by Paimon 7. Mom and Dad basically raised a demon king as their daughter 8. However, Charlie's body was not fit because it's of a girl's 9. When Charlie died, they had to have Alex experience all that shit so he would be "vulnerable" 10. Alex died from the jump and Paimon took over his body. Happy ending.

The first time I watched this movie I felt so bad for the son... Like his reaction is so realistic. The way he broke down and went into a trance. I think I would’ve done the same. Plus throw up. I don’t think I wouldn’t get out of bed or eat.

Ari Aster is a genius horror film creator, his horror's have deep plots that immerse you and make for a better and actual story, unlike most 'jump scare' films. The moments just drive you to insanity as you watch them, the same way, and is far better than any monster reveal in, say, The Conjuring etc.

I definitely don't think you were being over-dramatic. I watch horror almost exclusively and this one really messed me up. It's a really well-done movie but boy was I miserable while watching it.

Nah, she's right on this one. I consider myself a horror movie connoisseur and this movie messed with my head, weeks after watching it. This one is not for the faint of heart. And yeah, I watched it 3 times

Low key you’re right about gunning it and hitting an animal full speed instead of swerving or slowing down. If you hit hit fast enough, it’ll go flying over the windshield instead of into the windshield at your face.

Truly one of the best horror movies in terms of “horror”. Usually I’m good after the theater, but after this movie I was shook lol. Props to the people involved in this

i love the implications in this film, and one of them is that the reason why the mom is so hateful towards her son and basically dreaming of killing him is because in her subconsciousness she knew what would happen to him if he lives (all her male relatives die young, preventing paimon from having a host).

we all have to admit that ari aster is one of the most unique and amazing directors. His ideas are so interesting and he makes astonishing films.

I saw this movie in theaters, and I have to say that it is one of those movies that reminds you of why the move-going experience is so important. The theater was packed. The hype was high. The first few moments of the movie began, and you could already tell that the mood of the room had changed drastically. Absolutely nobody was prepared for that car scene. The tension in the room leading up to that scene was steadily building, but quickly transformed into extreme levels of anxiety, as we were all left staring at Alex Wolff's character's face for what felt like an eternity. The theater was so silent during that scene, that you could hear movie-goers in the lobby down the hall. From that scene onward, no one felt anything but anxiety, tension, and obscure horror for the rest of the film. 11/10 theater experience. It speaks volumes of just how amazing this movie is, and why it is, in my opinion, should be added to the "classics" of the horror genre.

For someone who is so scared of everything, you are an absolute CHAMP for making it all the way through Hereditary?! I think this is definitely one of the more harrowing ones out there I kinda enjoy a horror film but I couldn't stop thinking about this one for three whole days after watching it, so major kudos to you for this :)
