Which movie is funnier, this one or the sequel??

Robin Williams absolutely brought his A game to this movie. If only the real life board game was this fun and exciting.

The hunter being the same as the father was actually part of the game. (It's pretty clear if you listen to the clue about him, but most people are distracted by other events at that point.)

Robin Williams held back his typically manic personality during the day so as not to make the kids feel uncomfortable. He would vent by doing three straight hours of improv at a local comedy club during the night.

RIP, Robin Williams, we love you, we miss you. It's been 10 years since he left us.

The little girl is played by Kristen Dunst. She was already so talented as a kid. Just in Interview With The Vampire, she was such a great Claudia. And ofc the rest of her career, she’s been spectacular.

The “father to son” reunion scene in the end always brings me to tears. When I saw This at 5-years-old upon release it didn’t, but life finds a way down the line.

If she's never watched Robin Williams before you should watch Hook and Dead Poet's Society to give a great idea of his range.

Although they all did a good job, it was definitely Robin Williams that made this movie as good as it was. He wasn't just a comedian, he could certainly act as well. A fun movie but tinged with sadness for the obvious reason. Thanks for the reaction guys, you both seemed to enjoy it as did I.

Kirsten Dunst has been just so so talented from that age (and even younger in Interview With A Vampire!), till today. 😮 RIP Robin Williams. Will never not miss you.

Oooooh if she's interested in seeing more of his stuff, Mrs Doubtfire is an excellent one to get into as well. I think that's one of his I really loved most but he has a lot of really great ones. Hook was a rendition of Peter Pan that was fun. Old Dogs is a bit more recent of his silly ones as well.

Robin Williams was and always will be a talented genius. Classic and nostalgic. Happy new year you guys.

I had the Jumanji board game growing up, and even though the box wasn't nearly as cool as the setup they had here, there was always a bit of thrill playing it. Love this movie. Love Robin Williams. I know most people probably associate him with the Genie, but this was his defining role for me growing up. (Dead Poet's Society is my favorite of his now as an adult.)

Most don't realize that the bad guy chasing Alan is also his dad.

Man, if you thought Kirsten Dunst was good in Jumanji, you should see her in Interview With The Vampire, where she was cast when she was 10 years old, even 3 years BEFORE Jumanji. She was maybe the best child actress ever. Like others have been great and do good in adventures and comedies and stuff carried by adults, or where they carry kids/family movies where it's lighter and not as demanding., but Interview With The Vampire, is a dark brutal serious adult movie, and SHE carries a significant chunk of it alongside Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. It's nuts.

About who hears the drums. It's not just kids that can hear them and I only noticed it after watching the movie several times: "Jumanji: a game for those who seek to find a way to leave their world behind." That's what all the kids wanted for different reasons. Allen wanted to go away, Sarah wanted to be there for him, Judy and Peter because they lost their parents. They might not have realized it, but they wanted to leave their world behind. That's exactly what the game gave them and also taught them that maybe their world isn't so bad. Why did the pelican take the game? Because the game hinders and helps the players. It creates obstacles to overcome, but also helps them by keeping outside interference that would stop them playing away. The game bends time and space, materializes flora and fauna, creates a localized earthquake and a monsoon inside a house. I don't think you can destroy it with non-magical means. I didn't watch the new movies, because I always figured a sequel would be the same just in a big city. Take New York and see it taken over by the jungle as the movie goes on. Especially with modern possibilities. I realize it's just me, but what I saw of the new movies looked cheap to me. In comparison. In that regard, 'Zathura: A Space Adventure' (2005) was a good successor.

Kirsten Dunst is the little girl, she played in Bring it on later in life. You should have her react to Mrs. Doubtfire with Robin Williams in it. I don't know if you've seen the movie, but thought it would be a good one for her to see some more of him and his acting skills/voices he does

"Don't worry, it's just a pack of wolves." Just shows you right away what the game has done to those kids. After playing it, a few wolves seem tame by comparison.

Robin Williams is one the great ones, who truly had range. he could make you laugh hysterically (Moscow On Hudson, Good Morning Vietnam, Man of the Year, Old School), he could mkae you feel warm and fuzzy (Mrs Doubtfury , Hook ) or he could make you cry your eyes (Dead poets Society, Bicenttennial Man, Patch Adams, Good Will Hunting and Fisher King). And only criticism you can hear that he made people laugh so much they had to take re-takes because of that. He was one of the kind and truly missed.

I would have burned 🔥that game as soon as it was over.

Robin Williams was not just a wonderful comedian and actor but human being, he is missed. This movie was so much fun. At the time it came out we were amazed by the realism of the CGI animals because that was so advanced at the time, now it looks flat. Bonnie Hunt is always delightful and makes any movie she is in better for her being a part of it. Return to Me (2000) is one of my favorites. My favorite Robin Williams movies: The World According to Garp (1982), Moscow on the Hudson (1984), Good Morning Vietnam (1987), Awakenings (1990), The Fisher King (1991), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), The Birdcage (1996), Good Will Hunting (1997), One Hour Photo (2002), Insomnia (2002).

Carl's poor police car was the character that suffered the most in this movie hahaha.

*This will forever be THE real"Jumanji"!!!* 🤩💚 A couple of reasons this is better than the sequel(I've seen only the 1st of the 2...it disappointed me so much that I refused to watch the sequel):1)the stakes are much higher. If you get trapped in a videogame only _you_ are at risk,here the whole _world_ or at least the whole _town_ is potentially at risk!2)There are deeper moments,like...I've always *LOVED* how Van Pelt said he wasn't shooting Sarah and the kids but _specifically_ hunting Alan because _he_ was the 1 rolling the dices! It's a little detail but stood with me for almost 3 decades!😵3)I see no plot holes.Since you said you've already reacted to the sequel I can mention them:1)after the protagonists go back in time they still remember their adventure and that's not possible because _they literally went back in time_ to when _ALEX_ was playing in the '90s and 1)I assume Alex wouldn't have left the game in the school where they found it and 2)even if he did,they wouldn't have found him in the Game the 2nd time so their game should have been different and they could have even possibly lost without his help so how is it possible that they seem to remember the exact same adventure we saw them living in the movie?!?And how is it possible that inside Jumanji there was a place with traces of Alan if he went back in time after finishing _his_ game?!?This 1 _may_ possibly be justified with the fact Jumanji's jungle is in a different space _and_ time dimension but for the memory plot hole there is *no justification!>^

I think this was part of Robin Williams' life when he was trying to do much more family-friendly movies, compared to comedies with rude jokes.

This film gave me a nightmare as a kid😂

I feel like this movie was out of Robin's comfort zone. There was a lot less goofy improv with silly voices, which is sort of his usual shtick. While this movie did have comedic moments, he definitely got to show his dramatic side, and he really knocked it out of the park.

One of Robin Williams famous films! I am glad you guys reacted to it! I really must recommend you check out Zathura; it’s pretty much the same premise to Jumanji except it’s in space. It also stars a young Josh Hutcherson and Kirsten Stewart. I have a theory that the game itself was made possibly by a shaman, and then they gave it probably to some European invaders. The shaman must’ve placed a curse on it to whoever plays it must face the wrath of the jungle. 🎲

I just noticed, couldn't they have "broken" (or rather, secured) the game by putting two figures back onto the board at the end (which would be their two figures and couldn't be moved by anyone but them?) and *then* throwing the game into the river? Nobody would be able to play except them, and obviously they wouldn't. :'D

I don’t believe the kids remembered anything. I think they were confused why these two adult strangers were so happy to see them.

One of the best movies ever. You should have told her he took is own life. T_T Why would you think they would go back in time!? I'm just impressed. She guessed several things right. Only flaw is the end when they throw it the lake, they should if they can't destroy it, hide it in a much better way. Same problem with the end of The Mask. No Judy and Peter did not remember anything, which is sad. The new Jumanji wasn't as bad as I expected but it's just so far from Jumani, they should have just called it something else. I know it's a video game instead but they ruined the spookyness of Jumanji because in those new movies it's just like a normal jungle... And the third one is pretty bad.
