dying to yourself simply means, conforming to reality. for example, if you want to be an NBA superstar but you're a 5'4" male with a diminutive frame then dying to yourself means, redirecting your efforts to find something else that you're good at and not continue to pursue a fantasy that will never materialize. another example would be, throwing all your money away at a casino because you think that with just one more round of gambling you'll become a multi-millionaire. in other words, "dying to yourself" means in reality EMBRACING your TRUE self by obeying the dictates of nature and reality that were created by God.
