Im with you Jeanine, I also grew up not celebrating Halloween and I never felt like I was missing out. I know the spiritual world is so real and it’s super crucial what we watch and partake you don’t want to open any doors for the enemy. Y’all are so awesome!! 🫶🏼💕
As a Christian I don’t believe in Halloween because the origin for Halloween is demonic, it’s about dressing up as someone else that night so that u can “channel” that person or spirit…it’s very dark and no one who claims the Light should walk in darkness! That’s my opinion and I’m intrigued to hear and read about others.
i agree more w/ J when it comes to halloween. i didn’t sneak out or anything but i was raised the same way. i have a daughter now & another on the way & i’ve never taken her trick or treating. never dressed her up or anything at all. our church used to have this thing called “sugar rush” & we would have trunk or treat in the parking lot, but now that we don’t do it anymore, idk if i wanna take my daughter at all. i feel bad that she doesn’t get to do that but my spirit feels convicted just thinking about even doing it.
I agree 100% with Kaleb! If you feel that way about Halloween, then no Christmas trees or lights on Christmas. Christmas was once a pagan holiday, so if you are not going to celebrate Halloween, don’t celebrate Christmas or Easter. Halloween is also the Eve of All Saints Day, an extremely Christian holiday - taking back the dates of pagan holidays just like Easter & Christmas.
The way I was brought up was that if we are not out and about on days like halloween then who is being the light? Who is sharing the light of Jesus? We are not called to hide out of fear of darkness. We are called to be the light. Its a great way to bring Jesus into the world- by showing something like trick or treating is not greater than the power of God. He is greater than any darkness or demon. We are to spread the good word on every day
Is good to hear this type of mindset from young ladies I did the same thing in my early 40’s and I am still learning and waiting for the men who will be my complement my equal but clearly knowing that he is charge
Why not just say, ‘When a Christian marries unbeliever is like marrying Satan!’ As in what Jesus says to relegations people or unbelievers, ‘You are of your father the devil who was a liar from the beginning, etc.’ Or like Paul says, ‘What does Light have to do with Darkness?’
I felt very convicted last year that me and my family would not participate in anything related to Halloween. We did not allow our children to dress up, trick or treat, we don’t decorate our house. We turned off our lights and ignored the knocks on the door. There’s nothing God honoring about it, so I want nothing to do with it. People might think it’s extreme, but as Christians we’re called to go against the grain.
So inspiring! I am so happy that I found this podcast; God has used it to change me and grow me in so many ways. Thank you Jeanine and Riley!! You are both amazing role models. And that was so powerful at the end when Riley told us to spend time with God; I spent some time in prayer about having courage for God to lead me wherever He wants me for my career.

I think all of these holidays we celebrate in this world are FROM this world. It’s in our human nature to want to participate and enjoy them, but that’s the thing… Jesus calls us to not conform to the patterns of this world. We’re suppose to be set apart and I feel like we try to do a great job in taking these worldly things and changing them to be pleasing to God, but the Lord wants us to be set apart - period. It’s a hard thing to do, but that’s what dying to ourselves is 🥹. Jeanine, I appreciate you in recognizing that you have a responsibility on your shoulders bc of your platform. The Lord will see your heart and give you peace about what his will on this subject is. And what’s great about the Lord is that he intervenes when his children walk astray or make the wrong decision. I hope this gives some comfort on any decision making
btw your coach is a raging narcissist who is more concerned with upkeeping the gross traditions of a team than vouching for the women she’s entrusted to take care of. ya’ll should be paid more, coached with kindness, and be able to rest and recover. you deserve more.
You’re upset about Halloween and how it invites darkness? But yet you’re on social media 24/7, does that not invite and also promote negativity and darkness? Love how some Christians can nitpick and be so hypocritical. That’s why we’re losing Christians--can’t even dress up a princess without others accusing you of not being Christian enough and inviting demons lol! That’s crazy
You are still participating in celebrating Halloween and when you look at how it started as a Christian, you wouldn’t want to participate in it. You can’t go and do what others do just because everyone is doing it.
I agree with Jeanine. I did not grow up celebrating Halloween and I am thankful for that - we always did a family movie night and went all out and we never felt like we were missing out. I now have a two year old and we choose not celebrate for our family because I believe you can’t avoid that this is a day that celebrates evil and death. I can’t even innocently bring my child to get candy from a house because most homes are decked out with witches and skeletons and evil scary things. My son saw something scary last month and had night terrors for weeks and started saying he was seeing it in our home, which freaked me out at first but I think he was only remembering it and picturing it again in his mind. He is so young but served as a reminder for my husband and me that no way will we bring our son out to potentially see something that will terrify his small mind and to be cautious with what we bring into our home and what he sees. Also I feel bad for children who have parents convincing them “that’s not scary” when it for sure is scary to even myself! Yes other holidays can be argued that they are pagan as well but Halloween is the only one that promotes evil and death. I think it is eye opening to listen to testimonies of ex-witches as they themselves will tell you that it is not something that can be turned innocent. As a Believer my conscience is so strong about this!!
I don’t think there is anything wrong with celebrating Halloween, growing up a Lutheran Pastors kid, my parents didn’t want to shelter us. We were allowed to experience these things and I think it made my relationship with Christ stronger, because i knew what was not of Christ. We were able to watch things like Harry Potter and ask questions and be open about these things, which I think is important. I’d rather teach my kids myself within the safety of my home, then have them sneak around and have someone else have influence on them or have them get hurt.
