As a retired maths teacher it is good to see the girls learning such practical maths skills. I knew a family from Brewster, Cape Cod, who got their doors and some of their furniture from the local dump. I remember the fun I had building their two young children a treehouse.

Just subbed. I'm 45 and have been a carpenter since I was 12...started with woodshop in junior high and high school then started doing professional construction at 17, I primarily do finish carpentry - Doors/windows, fences/decks and have built entire homes... You are doing it right brother, beautiful family, and your daughters are an inspiration - I have learned a few things from watching them in your shop with your tutelage. Seems like they knocked that door together pretty well, I'd be hard-pressed to say that I could have done it any better and it likely would have taken me twice as long, haha. I struggled with the maths in school. However, I ended becoming a sheet metal technician working on air craft. And later even building my own home. Math makes sense to me as I use it to create.
