Actually, I think that is an S. 35 medium tank. If that is true, that tank is a 3 man tank, which would mean you could squeeze in someone else under those feet if you wanted. Only issue I might have is hatch placement. Might need another look but that hatch might be slightly off position? I doubt it though, this show is very accurate most of the time. Aside from speed of course.
Fun little fact: The Academy is a combination of BC High School (Vichy France) and Freedom High (Free France). Both were united into one school and a "De Gaulle" based character named Asparagus brought some unity between both like getting them to have one matching uniform and trying to cooperate together
I can see why Girls Und Panzer chose to have the girls sing the Onion Song for their theme. It's incredibly catchy and fits incredibly well with the characters that the students of this pseudo-French team are embodying. The song also has an interesting legend behind it. I heard the march was formed when Napoleon asked a group of soldiers he was passing during one of his European campaigns what they were eating and one of them responded with roasted onion, which led to the French leader forming the base lines for the song in that moment, which eventually evolved into the marching song we know today.
Spoilers One detail I really liked in BCs final fight with Oorai was how the singers faded out one by one until only Marie's tank was left, in which she continued to sing alone.
@@k-874 Sadly, a lot of high command French officier did also put up a fight, and there was some serious casualty among them. I wouldn't blame them all. Gamelin and the rest of the decision makers of the French Army were simply paralysed by the german encirclement. They did were faulty of being totally unable to adapt, tho, at this point, very little thing could have been done.
in GuP Ribbon Warrior, they won against Kuromorimine led by Erika miraculously because they manage to trick Erika into believing their decoy tactic was real.
@@ryangold9999 kuromorimine is already kinda op, and the ww2 wouldnt propably work because everybody is fighting with only tanks, they would win solely by using all their late war heavy tanks

I like how they made so many historical references in the series, even though the reference of BC Freedom being in 2 parts is basically France and Vichy France
I just can't get enough of the fact that this is an actual song. Like, someone see the situation they're in, and thought that singing about onion is good for your nation's marching song.
It sounded like Andou had more passion in her part of the song then Oshida did for some reason. By the way, I'm on Team Andou as she and her faction represent the working class of France and I tend to support the working class for various reasons.
Andou represents Free France of the Interior and Free France of the colonies, while Oshida represents Vichy France that's why there is tension between the two factions in BC.
@@girlgarde Well Vichy also fought for France's freedom but not democracy, although I checked your profile description so I don't think we can agree on which France was the "good one", but hey I like my dark skinned grills.
There's a lot of historical subtext, for sure. Like how the French team falls apart because their command and control is too far away from the action, thereby doesn't react quickly enough, resulting in their defenses falling apart and their defeat.
Yes, this song is about soldiers cooking onions for supper, but as you can clearly hear in the chorus it's also about their comradery on the battlefield. When that chorus hits, you can't help but get hyped as you envision the Republic's proudest march into battle. It deserves more respect.
You know you arent taken seriously when your enemy charge you while singing that. Well... It's not totally unfounded given they won almost every time xD
English people who make jokes about "muh French white flag surrenders" don't even know the origins of the white flag. at one time in the old monarchical regime the French flag was golden fleur-de-lis (royalty) on a white background (Christianity). The enemies of the kingdom, when they wanted to surrender, improvised a white flag to symbolize their rallying to the white French flag.
the mental image of cute girls with onion breath smell is something that only french could find appealing we are speaking of the same people that find tasty and palatable eating snails

Question? I would like to know if it is singed like correctly because like french is damn hard. not that i hate i must say that every time any team started singing it always made me happy Omg god i realized something. It would be damn good if they had actors sing songs from other schools like poland czechia but they are mostly in the lore of gup not that important but it would be interesting.
For Marie/Oshida/Andou: the singing feels a bit mumbled, due to all “r” being incorrect (too soft), and “j” being replaced by “dj”. (obviously due to their voice actresses using Japanese phonemes) It’s still pretty decent/intelligible. I suspect the chorus is song by natives, because it feels 100% right. Nitpicking, but for all the French versions I’ve found (including wiki FR), the lyrics translate to “I like onions *when* it is good”, while the ones sung here (identical to wiki EN’s) translate to “I like onions *because* it is good”.
