So saddened to hear Kelly passed... she was my inspiration in high school. I saw Girlschool with Iron Maiden and Scorpions in '81. Kelly, you were such a HERO...never got your due.
I saw girlschool supporting motorhead at the demontford hall Leister when I was a lad. I was so excited that I touched Kelly's boot. Rip and always rock hard in heaven
I was lucky enough to see Girlschool a few times in the early 80s, I once met Kelly (in Sunderland Mayfair) she was really nice & had plenty time to chat, I only found out she had passed away last year!!! I couldn't believe it !!! so sad.
Whoa. Coincidence. I saw the same two GS shows, metalmanalishi. I was WAY into Girlschool. The GS/Maiden/Scorps show was possibly the best metal bill I ever witnessed. Maiden was just beginning to break in the States and Girlschool's set was HOT. Remember being blown away by "Emergency" live. I remember Motorhead were supposed to be on the QR bill, but Lemmy's visa was denied and Motorhead was replaced by Saga, of all bands. We severely miss Kelly Johnson - an extremely underrated talent.
yet another great musician so many people will never see play live. just from the few weeks I've been into Girlschool, this amazing woman here inspired me to once again pick up the guitar. and such a beautiful voice belonging to such a physically and spiritually beautiful person. even though I don't know I don't know all that much about her, from what I do I know she was incredible
I like her ! Amazing woman and impressive guitarist ! Respect this woman ! I am sorry that she is no longer among the living, but the trail which she leave behind, remains forever ! ...
super chanson (ma préféré de girlschool) super hommage!!! on t'oublie pas Kelly t'etait la meilleur. she was a one! a legend forever! un fan de france. reste en paix!
In July of '82 I saw Girlschool open for Scorpions and Iron Maiden at the old Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis . The last song they played was ZZ Tops " Tush " and we thought that was freakin' hot ! They were gonna play there again in December of ' 83 opening for Quiet Riot and Night Ranger but a bad snow storm cancelled the gig along with a scheduled appearance at a local record store that afternoon . They re-scheduled and played in January of ' 84 opening for Q. R. and Saga instead . Cool stuff !
I got to see GS all the way back in '84, unfortunately I had to leave the show early. They're coming to town next week with Diamond Head for a NWOBHM show. BTW, what album is this on?
