Henok R. G. Tadleh....I agree with what you said. His voice is amazing.I didn't know Muse Nersis composed this song.what a timeless music.I wish I was from that generation.
Mekdes Teklemariam Ameseginalew. You must have a unique taste of music that never gets bitter in the mediocrity of the generation we are in. We all are lucky enough to have those great talents of the 1950, 19 60 and 1980.
My dad passed away 3 years ago . I was daddy’s girl and was very close to him . When I was a little girl 25 plus years ago, I remember him listening to this song on the radio 😢 I’m feeling lots of emotions now hearing it 😢 thank you for uploading this video!
Wow, this is so nostalgic-it takes me back to when I was very young. I remember this song, though I didn’t care much for it at the time. Now, it means so much to me, making me feel homesick. Thank you to whoever uploaded it.
Vahe Tilbian: good to hear from you. I have a plan to write the Muse Narsis Nalbandian musical revolution in Ethiopia. Please write me on messanger. Henok RG. Thanks.
One of the best icon of Ethiopia! It is shame on me that I wasn't aware of this perfect clip until today. Thank you for the great combination of orchestral music.
glad you enjoyed! Please check out Ethiopiques 20: Live in Addis, for more of the Either/Orchestra's interpretations of Ethiopian music. Also keep an eye out for our upcoming album of Nerses Nalbandian music, which includes "Yene Hassab."
@@Russgershon Sure I will do so. Thank you so much for taking your precious time to inform me directly. I was a little boy when these musicians were popular. But their talent was unforgettable until this day!
Nerses Nalbandian,"Stateless Armenian Ethiopian" dubbed Ethiopian music, and nightclubs in ADDIS back from 1950- to early 1970s, he takes over after his uncle retiring in 1949 as the head of the major musical institutions of the country in Addis Ababa. In particular, Nalbandyan conducts the orchestra of the Imperial Guard, the Police Orchestra, the Municipal Orchestra of Addis Ababa (where he is a professor in 1946), the orchestra of Hayle-Selassie Theatre (directed by Franz Zelwecker.Austro-German) and the music schools of Nazret & Yared. A great composer and part of ethiopian music history. Great guy!!
I bow to Either Orchestra!!! It’s just seamless! Done to perfection!!! Brilliant arrangement! Beautiful example how music transcends culture , language , generation!! My soul floats every time I watch/ listen this masterpiece!
This was one of the Amharic (Ethiopian) songs that I was grown up listening. I like to thank my brothers for creating and singing such a wonderful song.
Ethiopia and the western civilization from 1946 to 1974 has made a lot of changes and one of the miracles besides education and infrastructure Ethiopian music was influenced by the civilization. And the communists came in 1974 and the rest is history.
So amazing for ever ! Where can we find live concerts like this . I am tired of the one instrument music . Love this kind especially the old songs of Ethiopian music legends .
The legendary and most loved Girma Negash stunning performance with such talented musicians. They just repeat the original song. Thank you for sharing.
WOW ! took me into my childhood ,all my respects to all the musicians who performed these songs of this dynamic singer *GIRMA NEGASH*.we used to sing in the nights after kaise tim/bait in * TALIAN SEFER * gathering in our big compound < Emama Binegeedai gebi>
What a reminder of those bygone tmes! Mr Girma himself performing again. But the works of the great Nerses are rarely heard these days. I really wonder if his musical works with the Haile Sellasie Theater Orchestra have survived. It seems there is a conspiracy of some kind to suppress and make his music unavailable as many of my efforts to get them have been frustrated. As a child growing then his music makes part of my early memory of life and events in those times. I pray I may get them some day.
Tamrat, the Either/Orchestra has finished an entire album of Nalbandian material, which will be coming out later this year as Ethiopiques 32: Nalbandian the Ethiopian. Hang in there!
Very pleased to see the bubbly and ever green old jewel with his vibrant voice that made YENE HASAB even more testier like old wine and also lovable as old friend. Thank you to your dedication so that your song weave happiness to your fan and listeners. Dear Girma, you and your viberant songs will ever be remembered to eternity. I honor you and wish healthy, happy and prosperous life. "...Yene hasab neye wedene...."
What a classic piece by Maestro Nerses Nalbandian. Russ, congratulations on revisiting Addis and for the opportunity to perform the Maestro's work with the original vocalist Girma Negash. Can't wait to see you guys performing in DC area.
Thanks Russ Gershon. You answered my eternal question. Ethiopian music is deep it only lucks the development of musical instrument which supposed to be accompanied it. I mean playing the instruments in this level. Thanks again.
