It’s the wrong voice fir this music No criticism of Ms deNeiise’s voice. Imagine a castrato’s voice as near as we now can. Very focussed and pure tone such as Natalie Dessay or Cecilia Bartoli who in turn, are not to be found singing Verdi or Wagner.

@@alisonrhodes7312 I do understand; but for my own taste, in this particular aria, I think the use of vibrato actually works best to bring out the deep feeling in the words and music. After all, we tremble a bit when we're in love. Otoh, maybe I'm prejudiced from having heard this aria sung this way for many years, before the HIPP movement changed everything (I'm 73).

I think people are giving the thumbs down because they cut out the da capo

@@ruggerolorefice89 On n'en sortira pas. Et je ne vais pas me battre. Evidemment que toutes les chanteuses d'opéra ont chanté précédemment et qu'on n'a pas attendu uniquement Cecilia Bartoli. Mais s'il fallait faire un podium (ce que je détesterais) Madame Bartoli passe largement au-dessus des autres. Vous citez Nathalie Dessay, qui ne le mérite pas vraiment (sensibilité et émotion proche du zéro). La chance qu'on a depuis une décennie c'est d'avoir les 3 ou 4 chanteuses les meilleures depuis le début du siècle dernier.. Bartoli, Devieilhe, Stutzmann, portons les aux nues car du point de vue musical il ne nous reste plus que des interprètes d'exception. C'est le seul domaine dans lequel la musique a progressé, car du point de vue de l'ambiance générale, du goût, et des compositeurs c'est l'horreur absolue. Cordialement!

Actually its the ensemble (strings especially) that are out of tune, not Danielle DeNiese, the soprano who is perfect tune
